I would like to add a review for everything I rate on here, but that might be a little more ambitious than I'm prepared to deliver on. I've always been a little at odds with rating systems... At best, now I can look back and judge a certain show by which other shows I've given the same rating. But I try to take other things into account as well. Mainly, the show's intended audience and what they were trying to accomplish. (So, a kids' show and an anime aimed at adults may have the same rating, but chances are I judged them based on very different things. And a sequel is being judged more against the other seasons in that series than against all anime in general.) And I can say that I definitely tend to weigh things like story and character development much higher than technical things like animation. Those are just the elements that are most important to me.
I'm not sure I ever see myself hitting either extreme-- giving anything a 1 or a 10. (Unless it's a show where I'm willing to admit I'm insanely biased.) I try to stay objective with the shows that I love and fair with the shows that I really disliked. Even the worst anime tend to have some sort of redeeming quality, and even the best anime have flaws.
I'm much more likely to drop a manga series than an anime, simply because I prefer to have a physical copy of the manga I'm reading. It can be a lot more difficult (and expensive) to get my hands on an entire manga series, whereas, with anime, if I have access to one episode, I more than likely have access to the rest of the series.
Current Projects:
I've finally got my manga reading in gear. I spent a lot of last year collecting, so I'm planning to spend this year reading all those now-complete collections just sitting around my room. I'm currently working through Limit.
On the anime side of things...
I'm about halfway through Yu Yu Hakusho now, and I've fallen hard for this series. I love all the characters, and I already know it's going to leave me with this hole in my life once I've finished it. For shorter series, I'm watching Just Because! It's... well, let's just say I'm going to watch something very different once I'm done. It's got some good points, but I'm definitely not loving it. (...Yet? I doubt there'll be a drastic improvement before it's over.)

I just want to say one thing really quick that's been bugging me ever since I took a better look at the cover... That famous image of the little girl standing in the rain next to the giant Totoro... is inaccurate.
How the fuck have I never realized that before?
