| Training Day: 7.5/10 I had forgotten how much I liked Denzel Washington as an actor. He's very believable and I never felt like I was watching "Denzel" in the movie, but seeing the character through his performance. That doesn't happen a lot for me in movies with actors that I've heard of/have seen in other roles, unless they're like, Al Pacino or Leo. |
| How to fix the review section, detailed here The average reader (HS level) reads at about 200 WPM. So a 500-800 word review should take 3-5 minutes to read. That's an acceptable length for something you're interested in spending 25 minutes to 4.5 hours of your life watching. Oh, and ANN requires any and all reviews to be 800-1200 words, no matter the length of the show. |

| The Nut Job I only watched it because a friend of mine had suggested us watching a bad movie together (after he showed me Bobsheaux' Let's Watch: The Adventures of the American Rabbit--which OMG WHAT), and he named it. So we watched it yesterday, and I can't tell you today what I saw because it's dull. I just remember not being impressed with the visuals and that it was a waste of talent, particularly Lian Neeson. Wasn't worth the watch but at least it was quick. Not looking forward to its sequel. I did learn, however, the director's an ex-animator of Pixar, and quite a number of models in the movie looked like they were from Pixar. Like it was uncanny (although this kind of thing's nothing new). |

| The Revenant I was expecting more, since I loved the previous Inarritu movie and I had great expectations. Nonetheless, a very good movie overall, but I'm not too fond of the "wild nature" genre, unless it's a movie from Herzog. The direction and camera movements were really interesting, but I'm not really sure this movie could get the Academy Award for Best Director. Let alone the Academy Award for Best Actor for DiCaprio. Even though his performance was indeed good. |

| The new Star Wars movie (8/10) Haven't really been a big fan of the franchise (just not my cup of tea, I guess) but my dad has always been a dedicated follower and he's forced my family to the movies every time a new Star Wars incarnation comes out. This one, I saw with my brother and granddad (My dad was sick). It was either this film... or that new Alvin and the Chipmunks thing that came out so I naturally picked the one I can take seriously. The film focuses on separate journeys of an ex-soldier and a desert-residing scavenger and how their adventures come together. It's a movie with a likable cast, a unique perspective from the others, and a lot of good moments. I don't want to spoil anything but I just want to say a lot of heavy, dramatic stuff goes down in The Force Awakens. Despite that, it never makes you feel like you're watching two hours of depressing drama, thanks to naturally humorous scenes sprinkled in the plot. The Force Awakens isn't the perfect movie per se (it ends with a cliffhanger) but I'd still say this is one movie that is worthy of the hype. |

| Remember the Titans - Simple yet beautiful story. I think this is my favorite Denzel film. Training Day- Denzel's best performance from all of his films that I've seen. No wonder he won the Academy Awards Best Actor for this. Aria-da-Capo said: The Revenant is some sci-fi shit. | Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (live action) Still watching the film, but after an hour, I think I can safely say this just isn't a very good movie as an adaptation and a stand-alone mystery psychological-horror. The direction is too slow even for Higurashi standards (and the sound novel's pacing is slow particularly with Demoned Away which is what this film is adapting), and yet at the same time, it's cramming in too much from other question arcs that have no reason being included (because who's to say if they'll be "answered" in the sequel, which I'm hesitating wanting to watch now). The cinematography tries too hard, the characters aren't unique, they're more standard than anything else and that's not counting Keiichi's wooden emotions (although I don't know if the other actors are better). The only good thing I can give this thus far are the gore make-up effects, and my favorite scenes are the flashback to Rena at her old school because it at least captured Higurashi and Keiichi biting into the ohagi for a similar reason plus the effect of the nail. I dunno, maybe I'm just being nitpicky because Higurashi's one of my favorites and I hold it to high standards when it comes to horror-mystery. The fact it just isn't working as a movie makes me a little upset because it can work with the right direction. This just wasn't it. |

X-Men Days of Future Past, don't liked it so much, cause the triology superfluous now...>_> I wanted to watch An American Crime too...but it was a little bit of a shock to know it was a true story, so I don't have watched the whole movie, but I'll finish him soon! | Southpaw, I guess it was fun to watch ? Was watching it with my friends, we decided, that we had to watch a movie that none of us have watched already. But I still pref martial arts over Southpaw any day lolz. I mean I like smth like Raid Redemption :P. And the music didn't make me feel satisfied. Anyway next time if we hang- out together I hope we watch horror movies. We also watched Human centipede 2 and 3 after Southpaw. And I advise you to not watch Human centipede 3, because the ''human centipede'' got like 1 min. screen time, derp. And only 30 seconds of the human centipede 2 was worth waiting for. Also did you guys know that Ip man 3 is going to get produced this year ? ;))) |

Crazy/Beautiful : I felt like watching an early 2000s teen flick and I was not feeling the movie, did not like how it ended. Maybe I'll watch According To Greta next, idk. Star Wars: The Force Awakens : Loved it so much that I'll ended up buying the DVD and/or paying to see it again. | just saw Inside (2007). french home invasion movie from the french extremist horror movement. brutal, voyeurestically gory, lingering on shots of dripping pooling blood, burnt faces, etc. unrelenting. i'd give it probably an 8/10 - much scarier than any movie i've seen in ages, very tense, beautifully shot. there was a lot to like about the image composition, use of color and lighting, editing - the final images in particular were apocalypticcccccc but lots of shots from this movie i'll probably go back and take screenshots of because they're elegant |

I just saw The Lobster last night. What a movie. I really liked the premise but the execution of it wasn't that great. The movie lacked something. The ending was definitely lacking. But it lacked conclusions in a lot of areas. The movie felt like it only wants to explore what a society like this would look like, than the consequences of people's actions throughout the movie. 7/10 |

| Tomorrowland, funnily enough I enjoyed the movie, at least the message it sends, optimism in a what it seems to be a pessimistic society in a world that's brewing with wars, ISIS, Libya, rising tension between S. Arabia and Iran, Russia and US poking at each other and plethora of other negative images that we're shown, yet doing nothing or very little to make things different. Even Pope Francis in his new years message(I think) said that media should show more positive images. 13 Assassins, okay movie, action was good and had some "Why aren't you doing that" moments. |

| The Big Short. It was great. I'm not into economics, so it was a bit difficult to follow, I had to pause the video from time to time to discuss with my co-watcher, but overall it did a nice job explaining the most important elements to understand what's happening so that a deep understanding of the mechanism is not required. I loved how they used pop references as a timeline. Also, Steve Carell did unexpectedly good in a more serious role. I hope it wins the Academy Award for best picture. |

| Inside Out An endearing movie about it being okay to be sad and the intertwining of conflicting emotions with our memories. The conclusion, Joy's realization, and Bing Bong's fate can be seen almost from the onset, but the movie had enough charm and detours to entertain as they traveled along the mental landscape. Despite the amount of time spent in Riley's head, I somehow feel like there's not much I can say about her. The difficulty of adapting to a new situations in life like moving away to another city and adjusting to a new school can be daunting, yeah. That aside, the story events outside her head are pretty thin. This movie was far better than Up (the only other Pixar movie I've seen as an adult and in the past 7-8 years) and actually good. |

| Man what the fuck. Feel like I wasted my time watching Sicario. It felt like there was nothing going on. I can't even say I dislike it or like it. Since it was just so meh and lackluster. It only has significant plot development/twist and you can see it from a mile away.. Literally 1 hour is spent on building up the mission. Emily Blunt character was so bland. When I saw the trailers I had a completely different impression of what the movie is about. For starters I thought it was going to be character driven by Emily Blunt character since whenever the movie is mentioned they mention her first, so I figured her character was central and very important but she is just like there, very non-dynamic character. It fails completely as a thriller if that was the intent. |

| Memories of Murder, I was recommended by this a while ago by Ducat, but I barely managed to get a copy of it I only wish I watched it sooner. It was a great film, the beginning of the film started of a bit funny and I enjoyed that part showing how things are handled, and kind of how incompetent the detectives until the 3rd one arrives, but later on the film just pulls you in as they go further into the case, and gets you so invested into the characters and story that by the end I felt a bit crushed. 10/10 |

| The last movie I watched was The Martian, now please keep in mind that I walked for an hour in a dark and cold New York evening to get to it, and I walked away thoroughly unsatisfied. Yeah, the man-vs-Mars-nature premise and seeing Matt Damon suffer was cool, on top of all the interesting landscape shots, but that movie is on some political utopian nonsense, where all the "nerds" save the day bypassing procedures and all that. The walk home was very unpleasant. |
