| Like many others already mentioned, Gakkou Gurashi. Knew nothing about it and just watched it on a whim. I recently finished KinMoza and thought it was just another moe anime to entertain me. Kotoura-sans first 10 minutes was actually sad. Thought it was going to be a serious anime but nope. Just another random comedy. Madoka Magica obviously. Another anime I started on a whim back then and I was very curious to why it got so much praise. |
| Black Bullet - I thought it was going to be at least full of action but I still got drama involving lolis I didn't care about. Charlotte - Yuu should've been a dick like he was in the first episode but now he's just Nao's servant. Zetsuen no Tempest - started out interesting and I thought it'd be about magic stuff but it turned out to be some ridiculous "oh I see u betrayed me for the nth time but it's okay since we're bestfriends," cycle. Awful romance too. |

You're basically saying that "I want this to be another genre that I like", which is a giant what. Their setting is basically set inside a school with vegetations and preparation (which is a plot point) surrounded by zombies, thus as the logical conclusion why would they need to go outside to fight other than because of MC's whims or to go grocery? All the characters are straightforward and simple, the only mysteries so far are the different color of Yuki's uniform and the reason why the school has that many handy facilities which was revealed. The issue isn't that they don't go out but rather that their living conditions are too good to ever bring up zombies ever again. There's no need for the characters to worry as long as they don't do something stupid or as long as the zombies don't suddenly decide to rush the school which is highly unlikely. Also the balance I meant is that the show focuses too much on the slice of life aspect while the zombie part, like I said above, doesn't need to be brought up and all of their confrontations happened during flashbacks so the suspense and sense of danger is completely lacking for what is meant to be a psychological horror show. |

I became very interested almost immediately beginning the second episode when a certain plot point was dropped, BUT, the first episode is a fantastic re-watch because the plot points are certainly there, they are just not known by the viewer. Anyway; Berserk Episode 01 Tokyo Ghoul Episode 01 and 02 even I had another but I lost my train of thought after reading the Madoka comment. |
