| I can't say whether they attract more attention or not as I've never personally bore witness to it; though, it seems likely that they would. Men instinctually seem to chase after women, there are the few who don't but they are the minority. On the internet you are hidden behind a persona; approaching a girl on the internet is much easier than doing so in reality. The other benefit that couples together with this one is approaching a girl on MAL means you already have the benefit of the doubt; you know she likes anime. Finding a girl who enjoys anime in real life would be quite difficult, I'd imagine. I'm quite adverse to approaching girls online. There's a bunch of beautiful girls who share similar interests, sure - but maintaining any form of online relationship is too difficult (never done one myself, but seen some unfold) and isn't something that peaks my interest. Yet, even with this I'll still find myself clicking on girl's profiles every once in awhile; I never bother to message them but it's the same idea as going up to a girl in reality who's attractive and has similar interests. I'd do the same for a guy because people who are like me will automatically attractive me, be it as a friend or something more. Personally I'm opposed to giving girls excessive attention online; I don't mind people who do it but I don't bother to do it myself. I had a different outlook quite a few years back but through experiences that outlook changed. I would imagine, knowing the mindset of a male, that girls on MAL are indeed more popular than their male counterparts (girls don't typically tend to fervently approach guys). |
