You said it. Was also wondering why Koharu didn't just move the cardboard thing in the other direction...was she that frustrated that she just couldn't even think anymore? And ugh, Yuzuki. The writer probably wants us to hate Yuzuki at first and then show us the back story later so we can sympathize with her. Probably won't really happen since atm, it seems like the saucer has only "ruined" her life while everyone else goes living normally. Whatever that brief flashback was, if it's part of the reason that she hates the saucer, she should be advertising it as a reason why they should get rid of the saucer. Otherwise, she essentially has no plan as to how to get rid of the saucer except spreading saucer hate. Souta is right, and so is Koharu. What Yuzuki is doing is useless. And wow, if I was that bus driver, or belonging to any of the other cars being stopped by Yuzuki, I would've gotten out and told her that I'd be calling the police on her for blocking traffic if she doesn't move ASAP. I sure wouldn't just be honking.

Also, Noel...what are you doing? Why would you help Yuzuki get rid of you? ._.

At least Nonoka seems like she has a plan, and I'm wondering what Nonoka's wish that Noel's trying to fulfill is. I think if Noel fulfill's Nonoka's wish, then the saucer will be gone. And if that's really true, then maybe it should be quite easy compared to Yuzuki's futile shouting in front of Koharu's store.

Yuzuki has a huge Godzilla fetish. From the poster on her wall to the stuffed one she throws at her brother in the bunk bed.

the characters in this show are so stupid that it made me mad watching this episode. souta is the only smart character for deciding to go abroad. i would too if i had a bratty and moronic sister like yuzuki and lived in a town where all the citizens are idiots (the lead cast for being brainless and the townspeople for not threatening to call the cops and just honking their horns like it was going to make a difference when yuzuki was blocking traffic)

It's obvious that they have something going.

So I'm not the only one who thinks that!

Okay all in all I love this anime and I can't wait to see where it goes. Yuzuki is annoying, but I'm looking forward to the backstories to clear stuff up.

I'm still not entirely sure what to make of this series. It has a lot of potential, and cuteness! But if it doesn't begin to explain itself soon, its going to be like Glasslip all over again, and I wouldn't wish that on any series!

That said, we are getting a bit more of a look into the characters relationships. I just want to know the real reason Yuzuki hates the Saucer.

Also, Noel being embarrassed about people looking at the Saucer, was a huge heaping helping of cute!

I don't understand the low popularity. So far, I enjoyed these first 4 episodes more than Nagi no Asukara's ones.

Remember, not in ALL anime middle schoolers act like ADULTS.

I am really loving the characters.

- SPOILERS -

Nonoka: Very caring daughter. She is impulsive. Yes, she FORGOT the past because her mother DIED 7 years ago. She suffers to have forgotten her friends and Noel.
Koharu: Sweet "classic" friend. She did not want to hurt Yuzuki, but she had not choice. Then she cried a lot.
Yuzuki: Very energetic and stubborn. Childish. Still, has will to continue her battle against the Saucer. Probably something sad happened in the past.
Togawa-san: She really hates Yuzuki. Something bad changed her from being cheerful (and using bear-like headphones) to the current cold one.
Souta: Aloof. Probably He just want run off from dat tiny and indifferent city.
Noel: ...

The anime is not that I do not like it, but the story pisses me off because they will not let me know what they interpret the characters against the flying saucer.
Not bad really represents the discomfort of the various characters.
I want to give more confidence for this TV series, and look forward to the next episode to evaluate the vote to give him.
Drawings and animations are not bad, so does the soundtrack and the opening and the ending.

Yuzuki did a great job at making everyone hate her.

If the saucer's appearance is related to the hospital scene, then I guess her anger at the saucer is partly understandable, but slapping Nonoka was a bit pushing it, then going as far to cause a traffic jam in a desperate attempt to get anyone to believe her. Koharu was right to tell it to her straight that her plan was pointless.

I'm interested in the preview that showed Noel face to face with Shione. Hopefully it might show more flashbacks so we can understand more of her hatred for Nonoka.

Also, Koharu should've noticed that the cardboard cut-out wouldn't go through the door without either opening the other half of the door, or better yet, turning the cut-out sideways. -_-

This drama is just utterly ridiculous. I thought the drama at the end of the last episode was bad, but... oh hells bells. Wtf happened to Yuzuki? She was so cute; she was the only character I cared about before. In this episode she was just annoying and pretty much entirely contributed to the stupid drama. T_T

This could be a decent or even good series if it was just cute girls doing cute things, because the animation and character designs are clearly centered around that. The drama is ruining it. I wouldn't mind if it was good drama, but... have I mentioned how STUPID it is? I feel like I haven't but I'm not quite sure.

Jesus, Nonoka sure gets slapped a lot...

It was nice of Noel to help Yuzuki even though she's probably too young to understand what's going on.

The dad makes me lol even if he's not a major character. His poor uneaten eggs :(

That was a mean thing of Koharu to say to Yuzuki. Even if she didn't mean it, she probably shouldn't of said that.

What the crap was that?

Yuzuki is taking "spoiled brat" to such an extreme that it's just hard to watch. What an ungrateful, selfish little girl. Ugh. And she has the nerve to slap Nonoka and tell her supposed best friend (Koharu) that she hates her? On top of hating her brother because she didn't get to go to see fireworks with him? It doesn't even make sense, yet the cast is bending over backward to cater to her nonsense. Someone should have called the cops when she blocked traffic. e.e

Then we have Koharu still being too stupid to move the cardboard face-insert inside properly.

And finally we have Noel, the only mildly amusing point of the episode, if only for the fact that she's too oblivious to realize she's helping Yuzuki get rid of herself.

The melodrama is too much. We don't have a proper setup for any of this. Dropped.

Well when I first started watching this, I thought it was going to have a very similar feel to AnoHana. After watching this episode, I completely change my opinion.

This whole show is going to be about getting rid of the saucer, consequently Noel, just to appease the childish fucking bitch named Yuzuki.

"I hate you Koharu, you'd pick the shop over me?!?" uhh yea bitch. You're driving away our customers which means my family cant eat.

"I hate you brother you wont watch the fireworks with me" uhh the fireworks don't happen anymore.

"I hate you Nonoka you summoned the saucer" uhh bitch please, we were ALL there.

From the looks of that flashback, I bet one of Yuzuki's parent's died. And it happened around the time the saucer showed up. It was probably due to like cancer or heart failure, but since Yuzuki is missing like half a dozen chromosomes she automatically connects the saucer to her parents death.

Meanwhile big bro isn't stupid and probably knows better which is why he doesn't hate the saucer. Also why he wants to go overseas and get a good education abroad.

I still see this having a sad ending after Noel grants the wish, but the ending wouldn't have to happen that way if it wasn't for Yuzuki and her bitchy selfishness.

End rant.

Anyway. Holy hell. Noel's level of moe is so damn high that it could shatter the universe. oh my god. Every episode I'm drooling on my computer like Kirino playing eroge.

Brightside is at most Nonoka apologized in front of everyone sincerely for forgetting the past and their promise.
And Shione at least took that as a sincere apology, though she does not forgive her.
To me, that is a good start to reconnect.
This is the part Nonoka must bear with it.

I wish I knew what would be so bad about having a beautiful saucer over a beautiful lake and being able to live there, having bought property before the novelty of the beautiful, glittering saucer drove real estate prices sky-high.

Like... what's wrong with it? It's a beautiful, glittering saucer. It contributes to the town's economy. Otherwise, what would they be? A fishing village with fireworks? People need to get with it.

At first I was like, why are people getting Ano Hana vibes off of this. Now I totally get it.

I see only one resolution for this show.

Noel helps bring the friends together and then disappears because she's fulfilled her duty. Completely, utterly, anticlimactic.

Yuzuki obviously has some trauma associated with the saucer related to illness or death of someone close to her. Whether or not it was caused by the saucer (probably not) doesn't really matter. Its the connection she's made in her mind.

I'm honestly shocked to see this predictable of a story to come out of the scenario creator of Kanon. Of course Kanon dropped hints all around and had the same constant sadness aspect throughout but the final reveal was utterly shocking. I don't see how this pulls off a reveal like that.

Granted, if I"m wrong, which I sincerely hope I am, this has amazing potential. I just don't see how I can be.

To those complaining about the way they are intermixing the drama and the characterization, I actually don't mind. I kind of get annoyed sometimes on half a season being dedicated to character introductions and heaving the drama be very backheavy.

For non VN based shows, this is a pretty typical format. However, this seems to be doing things more VN style with arcs. You can absolutely create character connection this way, it usually just ends up not making sense for a while. If you don't watch a lot of VN based shows, I can understand why this is a bit jarring. And based on some of the responses, I wouldn't be surprised if most people in here don't.

I also agree with the sentiment that the animation style lends much more to a SoL show and not a drama, but... again... just hoping here... that may be part of the plan.

tl;dr: This may turn very deep and dark very quickly, although at this point I don't see a path to how.

Yuzuki is some annoying ass bitch so far until we know why she hates the saucer so much. Her hatred and selfishness for the saucer is the reason why she is hating on everyone and becomes distant in the group of friends (which is highly avoidable). She is now my least favorite heroine unless some miracle that has descended upon the story happens.

Yuzuki and Shione are a bit too similar for my liking. They are both holding such a childish grudge, but go in different ways about it dealing with it.

Yuzuki deals with it by actively expressing her hatred for the disc that reminds her of Nonoka and her attempts to get rid of it, which lets her release her anger and stay pretty positive when not thinking about the disc. However, the negative part of this is that her attempts to get rid of it are more than a little unacceptable and disrupting. Plus, she blames the disc for everything and her reasons other than it reminds her of that time aren't too convincing. Quite childish, I'd say.

On the flip side, Shione keeps all her feelings bottled up, poisoning her, filling her with anger she never releases which causes her to become socially withdrawn and envious of people that are leading happy lives. Of course this would be fine if she kept it all to herself, but being the spiteful girl she is, she just had to speak to Nonoka and not elaborate. At least Yuzuki forgot about Nonoka, but this girl was so spiteful that she instantly recognized her, even given how much time had passed. This girl had far too much hate bottled up inside and is the bigger poison, I think, as well as being just as childish as Yuzuki, but not actively showing it.

So I'd say Yuzuki is the lesser of 2 poisons just because she can lead a normal life. That doesn't exactly excuse her though.

Yup. I feel a complete disconnect with these characters, if we don't get enough(and the right kind of) characterization before having all this drama shoved in our faces, we can't sympathize or even understand the characters. That's the problem I'm having.

All of this ^

Nonoka needs to take some lessons from Wayne Brady. I'm tired of seeing her get smacked w/no holla back.

Maybe I'm just cold but there's no way I give a crap about a broken promise by a elementary school friend. To hold onto it like that is just illogical to me. I don't get it.

And Nonoka wasn't asking for forgiveness, she just apologized so though I don't expect them to forgive her b/c she forgot, give the girl some leeway. The long-haird girl is a real piece of work.

Yuzuki, u mad but you keep acting like a trollop and won't tell Nonoka anything so why keep acting like that.

Nonoka should forget all of them (even the nice one b/c she'd try to bring them all together) make some new friends who don't care about the doggone saucer and act like none of this ridiculous mess ever happened.

Apparently fireworks will solve EVERYTHING so Nonoka could just ask Noel if she's cool with fireworks hitting her undercarriage or to park herself a mile to the left or up the altitude or SOMETHING.

WAIT FOR IT, WAIIIIT FOR IT! Yuzuki: "I hate you" for the 100h time this episode. Yeah because you hate everyone. Just go away for good. 6 year olds are more mature then Yuzuki. Hard to watch this episode because of how annoying we was.

This anime is not as good as I initially thought. Apparently they are all chicken shits that cannot speak for themselves. Not even Shione that says it like it is, she just hates a person without telling them why. That would just make me so furious. I would of slapped her back 100x over.

They better get all this stupid forced drama over with and get back to a plot soon.

Could we please get a 4-minute spin-off of this show that focuses only on Noel? Because quite frankly, she is the only character I care about because her cuteness is giving me diabetes. There better be some explanations soon about why everyone acts the way they do, because right now all I see is a psychotic Yuzuki who should be locked up in a padded cell away from the outside (after all, she HATES EVERYBODY), a bossy cold b!tch in Shione who only acts high and mighty, the "weak and helpless" Koharu, a single male character who doesn't really get much character development, and a main character who has no clue what is going on and why everybody is being an a$$hole about something they all did together and that has brought their little town more attention and money than it could have ever hoped for.
