The episode was very good.
But if I was Mina's father I would never forgive those guys, I'll make sure they live in hell.

I walk ten thousand miles, ten thousand miles to see you,
And every gasp of breath I grabbed it just to find you.
I climbed up every hill to get to you,
I wandered ancient lands to hold just you.

And every single step of the way, hey hey hey hey,
Every single night and day...
I searched for you, through sand storms and hazy dawns I reached for you oooooo

I stole ten thousand pounds, ten thousand pounds to see you,
I rob convience stores 'cause I thought they'd make it easier.
I lived off rats and toads and I starved for you,
I fought off giant bears and I killed them too.

And every single step of the way, I paid...
Every single night and day...
I searched for you, through sand storms and hazy dawns I reached for you.

I'm tired and I'm weak but I'm strong for you
I want to go home but my love gets me through

la la la...

This episode was way better than the first one, to me at least. Her father was self-conflicting quite a lot, he was blaming himself, fearing loss once more. I really liked the "ill omen" concept, it was so intriguing.

If the previous episode had failed to be impactful, this one, although not as enthralling as the best episodes of "Mushishi", manages however to keep the attention alive on the subject. Beautiful the final scene of the episode, the narration this time was pleasant and intriguing; moreover, more than one message could be read between the lines. Excellent drawings and backgrounds, ditto the soundtrack and the ending.

nice episode with a sort of redemption and acceptance theme around it.
That ending was fucking amazing holy shit. End scene with all the Mushi like birds flocking back to the sea with the added sound track made it look and feel like a studio Ghibli movie i swear

Well that last scene is nice and all but it still doesn't change the fact that those Mushi bastards steal the girl speaking ability for no reason....

What , why ? The whole episode was about redemption and learning to forgive. The only thing the chief did was make a choice -a choice between his wife or another mans wife. Almost any normal person would choose his own wife. I'm not saying this is a good thing but it's not also like a bad thing. Just hard to explain, harder to choose. It's like one of those moral dilemma problems.

The inclusion of the red tide was a very interesting idea. To the fishermen in the story, the red tide must be as mysterious as the consequences of any of the fictional mushi in any other story in this series. You could say the microorganism that cause the red tide are a kind of mushi that really exists; unseen by human eyes they carry on their lives for their own ends and without any intentions for good or ill occasionally cause a gross event that affects humans.

A beautiful meditation on the nature of tragedy and how it paralyses us and those around us, with a captivating message of coming to terms with our loss and forgiving others to thrive in our communities. How this show manages to maintain so much thematic resonance in 20-minute isolated episodes will never cease to amaze me.

Sad episode with a happy ending.

It's nice how that man forgave everyone and went back to live to the village with his daughter.

Absolute amaze-balls epsiode - such a positive story about the importance of community, vulnerability, sharing and forgiveness. The final shot with the birdies flying off on the beach gave me goosebumps. The visuals and the music just feel upped a notch compared to first season.

The red tide is a throwback to the wife's blood in the waters - both painful events linked by memory and trauma that led to the diver isolating from his own community. What heals him is that he needed to forgive himself and the village. "There was nothing anybody could do" is a line that's used for both events; the first time, he does not accept that. But this second time, the man accepts, forgives himself and the village, and switches off the pain valves after 10 years.

A+ Tier epside - maybe even S-Tier.

"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')
