Yumiko had a high presence in the VN OP video too, that's no different in the anime, she's the reason the school exists in the first place, not necessarily anything more meaningful than that.

It was decent. It's still just the second episode, so. Still the introductory phase. That said, I don't know exactly what they're going to do with only 13 episodes either. Some of the common route + one heroine? Or what?

The common route in the visual novel version was really long, yes, but the comedy in it was fucking golden. I want good parts from it in this.

nice opening,
Yumiko made me laugh when she said:
u enter boy into a girls school u want us all to get raped,
also that chibi scene when she try stab yuuji.

Yuria got some nice car.

I also like the ending were they show how the girls get to the school.

The OP suggest that they're probably gonna try to fit all the routes in, I just seriously hope they don't go for a shitty harem route. My only hope is that the anime isn't tagged as harem despite the fact that it screams harem.

The OP also seems to focus on Yumiko more than the other girls, which might suggest she might be the main love interest of the anime. If they're gonna stick to one main love interest, the only options are really Yumiko or Amane. I'm impartial for Yumiko even though the game seems to be more natural towards Amane, simply because if they're gonna try to fit in all the routes, they gonna HAVE to cut most of the Common Route and a lot of Amane and Yuji's relational developments happen in the Common Route. Her actual route is more about her backstory. Then again, Amane's True End and Bad End are perhaps the two strongest moments in the entire game in regards to Yuji's relationship and bond with any of the girls.

Lastly, those panty shots are getting really obnoxious. I don't really mind anything that Amane and even Sachi might do since that's how they are but those panty shots were just pointless.

Not if it's 24 + 1 episodes :P

That said, they've covered around 4 hours of VN in 46 minutes of anime so far without skipping anything overly important. If that ratio holds, they could fit 100 hours of VN into this anime. Considering Grisaia no Kajitsu doesn't have more than 75 hours for an average reader, I wouldn't put it past them to add 'extras' such as animated scenes from Yuuji's "jobs", (which in the VN weren't described much, just implied) and assorted snippets from various parts of the two other games. (Which they've already done)

The pace is definitely too slow for a 13 episode show, but if the rumor about 25+1 is correct, then it could instead be the best adaptation of anything ever.

Is´t Michiru real popular in Japan too? I think the producers are having a little more foucus on her then the the others together with Amane and Yumiko. Like makina and sachi are there less. Even the opening have more little more Michiro.

The ratio of girl's screentime in the anime so far is consistent with the VN. The early VN is just as low on Sachi content and just as high in Yumiko content in its corresponding place as the anime has been so far. The only character who maybe got a tiny bit extra appearance was Amane so far, with the intro to ep. 2.

The reason I wasn't expecting Michiru in this one, other than as part of the background, was the name of the episode corresponding to a chapter of the VN where she didn't appear much.

yeah true. Well I´m happy so long the pace dosen´t go up. If the starting with little original foreshadowing during the common route I would´t care so much either.

Actually, anime being 1 or 2 cour doesnt change the length of common route...1 cour 1 girl or 2 cour 5 girl is pretty much same thing,if anything they need to pace up if its a 2 cour :I

They may do all the route at the same time? So everybody is resolved in the last episode isteed of short arcs per girl. That would be a nice thing for a change. Kind of tired of all this arc thing.

That's actually what I've been considering for a while now, but I kind of think that the ending would become too chaotic and directionless, cause the routes are just so different. Hard to tell, tho with how much would have to be rewritten anyway.

bluh, generic dribble. It was ok, but it lacked compared to the first one. I'm interested in seeing how it develops regardless. Hopefully the plot actually gets moving with the next episode, because I can't imagine adapting an entire visual novel into a single cour gives time to goof off with episodes like this one.

You badly want it to use Rakuen's fan-fiction level, non-canon alternate time-line end eh? How badly do you want to be disappointed anyway? And how much passive aggressive militant wishlisting do you want to lather this thread up in? Come on. If this were to turn out like that, it would be named after Rakuen anyway. And we would all know not to watch it.

Rakuen is more a fanservice game for action, hentai and so on even if it is canon. The story goes from normal problem and other things. To unrealistic semi sci fi action and breaks the good "normal" story from the first two games. But I only liked the first game then the story totaly flip over.

you should read the definition you just posted because you're the one being delusional here... the IP owner decides what is and isn't canon and Rakuen IS canon whether you like it or not as is the fact they retconed the routes in GnK to a harem one

Well, I liked Rakuen the most out of the 3 games... When I talk about eroge I like the medium length the most. As they're both easy to read and fun. The longer ones like Hoshiori, Hatsuyuki Sakura and Irosekai can also be good as they are more detailed, but then you have unecessary long ones like Grisaia no Kajitsu... Now that is just unecessary. If you want a very long game there is Baldr Sky because there is material for the story for it to become that long, but Kajitsu is just dragged out way more than needed. Meikyuu and Rakuen are shorter making it both easy to read and not feel suffocating. But then again, I played Kajitsu with the machine translator and already changed to reading raw when I got to the sequels, can't compare.

Anyways, nice episode. Obviously it lost much of it's "what did i just see" factor, but still nice.

I wonder though how so many of you manage to play so many VN, read so many manga and still have time to not only watch the anime adaption, but do other stuff too. Like, playing other games, or social interaction of any kind...

Yeah there's no doubt that Grisaia has probably the worst pacing and story dragging out I've read since White Album 2. But I can see why people who like it don't care for Rakuen. It's just...really underwhelming because you would think that the plot would get darker (kinda like how the muv luv series started off silly then got very dark) instead of becoming just plain silly.

Though I imagine the better pacing and the sense of excitement will win people over, but the story is something your going to have to turn your brain off for. I

No storytelling from Yuuji scene. But oh well.

What i find of the adaptation (Visual Novel reader here) so far:

I find the animation really nice. It's better than I'd expected. They skip plenty of things. It feels a bit rushed due to that, but i can live with it, looking to the episode count of this show and how slow and long the first part of the Visual Novel was.
I also see some Anime original content in there (see the ED from this episode) which so far does a good job.
Yuuji's voice fits well now that I've watched a few episodes. I though first it wouldn't fit judging Norio's voice from Knights of Sidonia which sounds very similar (same VA, no sh*t).
And as last, the only thing that need to get used to is the OST cuts. I've heard every song of the OST in the Visual Novel more than 7 times in it's full, uncutted glory and i can easily spot where it's cutted. It's something that's an Anime trait but i might get used to it.

So far it's a nice adaptation so far. But the problem still lies on how they execute the second part (the drama and stuff). If it's only get 13 episodes (which i think it will), they need to cut a lot of things from the routes. But i (and we) will see where it will be headed.
