An average series at best. Hand-drawn animation was nice, but I didn't care about any of the characters or what happened to them. Please don't hut me KLK fanboys 5/10 :(

And so Kill la Kill ends. Very decent effort by Trigger to try and get back to their roots. 8/10 but 10 for this episode.

I find it laughable that most people here don't or can't see the bigger picture. If this was their first try to get back to their golden days in Gainax as a new studio, be very prepared for their next anime. Kill la kill was merely an experiment. Anime wasn't saved, but IT WILL BE. Kill la kill was assurance it will.

Give Trigger a budget as big as mainstream titles like SNK , Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach and I assure you that it will blow those others straight out of the water just like TTGL did years ago.

I'm REALLY excited for Trigger's next anime. You can just see how they just experimented about in this run. Gamagoori going Gurren Lagann just really hit the spot for me.

Love the ending, not a lot of series ends like this :) Goodbye to all the villains [Raygou and Nui in particular :( ] and clothes, at least everyone is wearing whatever casual they want in the end, I kinda want to see Mako and Ira go out too but oh well :D

One piece doesn't really have a big budget. I mean did you watch the anime? the animation is terrible, even compared to KLK. Bleach and Naruto have a decent budget and good animated action scenes, but overall I wouldn't call their budgets big.

@ Ruichi, you bring up good points, but as long as they keep hiring the writer Nakashima their shit will always stay an experiment, large budget or not.

I don't even want to imagine what it'd be like if this studio churned out Kill la Kill after Kill la Kill after Kill la Kill type anime.

Would get waaaay too much and stale and most of the people here who heap praise will eventually get worn out by all it all.

TRIGGER have the skills to make crazy shit no doubt. But if they continue to do nothing but ott anime with little depth and samey predictable plots (humanity under attack! Aliens!) Their future will NOT be very bright.

The ending was pretty nice, overall a very great series. Loved it from beginning to end. It's sad to see Nui go like that but she was a villain and had to die I guess. I'm gonna miss this.

I was satisfied with this ending. As a symbolic story of a girl going through puberty and reaching adulthood it worked rather well. Were there some issues and loose plot threads that were unresolved? Yes. It wasn't perfect, but I enjoyed the ride. A solid 8/10, though I may rewatch at some point and reevaluate higher. Definitely not a 10, but still a solid effort.

Isn't it too early to say you can predict Trigger's hiring decisions. Is it not the first time Nakashima was hired for a project now that they are Trigger? This studio is too unpredictable, just look at their lineup so far lol. Also, he's the man responsible for TTGL after all. Where's your faith in him? Maybe a collaboration with others in the future perhaps.

I'm very hopeful for the future. SNK and KLK has rekindled my passion for anime after I've stopped watching anime for some years.

Pretty sure it wasn't a "symbolic story."

Pretty sure it was literally a coming of age story. x)

In a way it was, but also the idea of the kamui symbolizing puberty and the like. Still doesn't change what I wrote.

now i see how patience got rewarded.

The first half of this Anime honestly are mediocre at best, only watching it because there is nothing good to do.
And then, Ragyou came and everything were changed, it become one of the more interesting anime this season.
But, when Satsuki decide to rebel against her mother, it instanlt become my favorites.

Cant wait for TRIGGER next Anime

@ Ruichi,

Have zero faith in Mr Gurren Lagann tbh since that show was just as shallow as this one.

As for predicting TRIGGER's hiring decisions, Mr Gurren Lagann and Mr Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt kind of like to do the same kind of anime (i.e. Zany, vapid, vulgar) so yeah, unfortunately I doubt they'll be messing with the formula (Mr GL's writing with Mr Panty and Stocking's direction) for a while to come.

And if we're talking original content then that LN adaptation TRIGGER has lined up as its next work doesn't really count.

It'll probably be good though (the LN they are adapting). A lot more focused than Nakashima's writing, anyway, which is saying a lot because it's a freaking light novel!

Anyway, I, like you, look forward to TRIGGER's next works. Just hope Nakashima learns how to write properly and tone down all that noise.

GL was a much better anime after episode 8 happened. Guess why?

I find that symbol to be the most convoluted and unconvincing to be honest, especially when the latter half of the story comes around.

There's some evidence for it, but it's very superficial at best in my opinion. I remember there being an image or something that was posted that was basically just a fem reading of KLK, and I think that's just completely off the mark.

To each his own really. I mean you can read deeper into the show and I do appreciate that you can. I also like just enjoying the action and character interactions too. Just another way to enjoy the show for me.

What a brilliant finale!!!

The fight between everyone and Ragyou will definitely be memorable after all the conflicts the cast has had between each other and the way how they all united together particularly with that fusion Ryuuko did was excellent. The moment between Mako and Gamagoori was touching. Seems like Ryuuko was the most compatible one after the absolute domination was activated and she defeated Ragyou in an epic way. I'm assuming Harime disappeared along with Ragyou towards the end of the battle. Senketsu's final abilities such as the absorption of life fibers were revealed but it seems like he used everything it could to stop it and perished. RIP Senketsu!!!

It ended very well with that naked crazy catch of everyone to Ryuuko (cool shot of everyone together naked) and everything is restored to peace. I enjoyed the ending with everyone wearing normal casual clothes and having fun with their normal life and you have to like the bond that Ryuuko and Satsuki shared now as siblings after all they've been through and all this creates a refreshing taste and Satsuki has a hair cut. All ends well and peace has been achieved as the happy ending.

Overall I really enjoyed this series with a great sense of creativity of characters and a suspending plot. Fights and humor were well initiated and the unique art style really enforces the effects and this was shown explicitly well in the last episode. The music used was sensational and was a very good series to enjoy!!

Final Scores:

Art/Animation: 9/10
Story/Plot: 9/10
Characters: 10/10
Music: 9/10
Overall Score: 9/10

What an ending, goodness me, I was yelling at the screen like a madman at everything that was going on. All in all, it was a fun ride, from start to end, this anime stayed consistent in its madness and somehow still managed to create serious moments. I enjoyed this quite a bit, and will be watching it again sometime in the future.

One a side note, shy Satsuki with short hair was adorable, goodbye Senkentsu, I enjoyed Gamagori's gurren lagann chest face moment, and his "I'm going to confess" moment during the date.

Pretty much this, made my day haha.

It's a shame that what started as a refreshing "villain of the week" kind of show with flashy action, over-the-top comedy and great enthusiasm turned out to be a giant ball of clusterfuck when the actual plot arrived. It's as if the writers made up the story as it went on. I hate to say it but it does feel like the show could have benefited from a shorter length, something that would have helped polish the animation in the early fights as well.

If there is something that will never change in MAL is the back and forth people feel the need to have over what they perceive as great and terrible.

Hell, that's the very reason why shows like SAO get the amount of threads and attention that it gets.

That's why my "How many people will watch SAO 2 just to criticize it" thread got so many replies.

It's entertaining to say the least.

Exactly this.

I knew what I was getting into for Kill la Kill, and it did not disappoint. Do people here in MAL need to be a hard-on critic every now and then? (Well, I'm not one to talk with how I feel about the Tales series of games but still)

What amazes me is that people still complain about fan service at the FINAL episode! God damn that's some masochistic tendencies..

I'm a fan of ecchi anime but I never perceive KlK as a fan service anime. Honestly after so much nudity and tight clothes being shown, it doesn't even bother me anymore whether these characters are nude or not. Granted there are some really delicious shots but even a pervert like me was entranced more by the action rather than the nudity (which is just like some chocolate sprinkled on top of a giant sundae).

Besides if any show has a justification for showing nudity, this is it! Hell it's pretty much the core theme.. is it really surprising that a show that deals with the relationship of cloth and human has so much nudity in it?
