By the time anyone realized, he had already fallen off. The only two people who were in danger (initially) were 1) Akari and 2) Tsumugu. Akari was in danger of being taken by the sea god. Tsumugu was in danger of drowning. The first thing to happen was Akari falling off the boat, presumably by the sea god's actions. Manaka and Hikari were the first two to react. They jumped into the sea to save her. After the two had gone in to the sea, Tsumugu's boat capsized, leaving him in the sea. Chisaki was the first to react to this and jumped in after him. Please note that at this point, there are two people with Ena still on the surface: 1) Chisaki and 2) Kaname. Ena is important because if you jump into a sea with multiple whirlpools forming, you're probably going to drown regardless of how good at swimming you are. Of the five people with Ena (Akari, Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki, Kaname), three were occupied. If both Chisaki and Kaname failed to act, Tsumugu would have died. Also pay mind that Kaname also helped Tsumugu, instead of helping "HER BEST FRIENDS". I agree 100% with this. I don't understand why people believe that saving Tsumugu makes her a "bitch". If she decided not to save him and let him die because (as Sourire said) " she barely talked to him" then she would be a true bitch. |

| Kaname better not be dead. He's way too much of a boss to die. What a tragic fate that would be for him. Like people have said before, he always gets the short end of the stick. |
| I understand that Tsumugu can't breathe underwater, but the writing is seriously messed up. I felt like the reactions weren't strong enough for Akari, whom the main kids have known for forever. Kaname and Chisaki don't dive for her, yet the latter does for Tsumugu (I assume Kaname dives in purely to help Chisaki). I wouldn't have such an issue with this if they'd exchanged more than a few lines and brushed arms once, but their chemistry feels terribly weak. Feel bad for Kaname, who has had such a history with Chisaki but had to watch her fawn over two other guys. Hope things turn out better for him. I hope Manaka doesn't die, as she was quite likeable for me. Her emotional development for Hikari would feel wasted in that case. Still shipping Manaka x Hikari. |

Manaka and Kaname :'( Of course Chisaki would go save Tsumugu, he's the person who'll most likely die since he can't breathe underwater. And of course all those hints that showed she may have feelings for him, but didn't realise it herself. People, stop calling Chisaki a bitch/slut. Fuck. So much hate. Half way there. Looking forward to the 2nd half, very keen to see what kind of ramifications this will have on the rest of the characters and how it'll affect the rest of the season. |

| Wow. Tsumugu gets it all. Even Kaname was hell shocked. Taking Manaka and now Chisaki? Really? This is really an unfair world. I believe Kaname isn't dead nor is Manaka. It's just a way for this anime to be more dramatic. But if one of them really is dead, it will be like everyday is like flashbacks and some boring episodes and everyone is like blaming each other for his/her death, something like that. |

| KANAME NOOO best boy had better be okay. I was half-expecting to see blood in the water after that scene but I'm hoping the lack of it means he's fine. I hope Hikari and Manaka are okay too, although I'm more confident that they will be alive and well. |

Its not the kind of anime that something bad happens and you hate it for it because it doesn't make sense or is plain stupid, its the kind of anime that something completely bad happens but yet you still love it and want to watch the next episode. Oh how I love this anime to bits! |

| Remember these episodes where Hikari was narrator? Everyone will be ok, but they will change... So nobody will be dead. Also about Chisaki in anime there are hints... First "I hate you", then "He isn't such bad guy"... Blushing, camera show only Chisaki reaction, even if there are other characters... In this episode, Tsumugu on Chisaki lap could means something after all these moments at the beginning... We just only need to know what Tsumugu have feel for her. |
| This is not ok... I never expected to cry during Nagi No Asukara, ever. As soon as I saw Kaname falling back from the boat and that pillar falling on him, I screamed and started crying. I was utterly shocked by it. Also, there's no way they're going to kill Manaka or Hikari. (They're the main protagonists, so I'm not really worried). About Kaname though... If they actually killed him, I'm going to be pretty pissed. I honestly hope he's alive, because, damn, I could write an essay about his character. It's the one that they showed less POV than anyone in my opinion. I think he was the most intriguing character and when he confessed to Chisaki, GODDAMN. I can't put into words the scene when Chisaki saved Tsumugu and hugged him on the boat. Kaname looked completely hurt. It's as if he thought she didn't care about him at all. And when he let go of the mothereffing boat ahbdkadbakbfd In short... ＴＨＥＹ ＢＥＴＴＥＲ ＮＯＴ ＫＩＬＬＥＤ ＫＡＮＡＭＥ． Just that. They won't get away with it if they did, I swear. |

| Hikari waving the fla like a boss. The sea! So beautiful... Akira fell. I can't believe for all the Chisaki x Tsumugu we are getting. I mean seriously... I love Hikari x Chisaki, and I think Tsumugu x Chisaki isn't bad either, more like I MIGHT like it a bit but seriously... I feel bad for Kaname and the look on his face when he was drowning... Damn I like all Chisaki shippings... Manaka sacrificing herself instead.. Seriously guys, stop hating her, she did something heroic this episode but all I see is haters rejoicing... These guys really annoy me honestly, they can like characters who are real jerks but hate those characters who are in the process of development... |

| I knew it...when a character declares something with conviction or says something like "I'll tell you after" or "I have something to tell you when you get back"...it's an automatic death flag. When Hikari confessed to Manaka properly, a death flag was raised. I didn't expect it to be for Manaka. When Kaname told Chisaki his feelings won't change, another death flag was raised. When Miuna told Akari that she had something to tell her after the Ofunehiki, death flag again. I couldn't care less about Tsumugu, wish it was him who got sucked in that whirlpool or fell off the boat. Kaname better not be dead damn it T___T |

| Omg totally didn't expect this development... Everything up till now had been so peaceful, with them preparing for the Ofunehiki and all that confession merry-go-round... AND SUDDENLY THE SEA GOD SHOWS UP AND SCREWS THINGS UP BIG TIME . can't wait for the next episode... really hope they show what happen to the rest of the gang... And so it looks like Miuna is ready to take on the main character role... maybe for an episode or so... |

| She doesn't love him... yet. But there is a chance she can falling in love with him. Even if I prefer ChisakixKaname, TsumuguxChisaki have nice moments and nice chemistry... and just look how their relationship has changed. First Chisaki doesn't even like Tsumugu, but then she start to know him better and even blush when Tsumugu accidentally touch her. I think there is a chance for her to be with Tsumugu. |
| After the ice melts, the cast goes back to the surface. They find out that Tsumugu and Chisaki had a kid together while they were hibernating. Manaka and Kaname, which are still alive, go crazy and bloodbath ensues. The end. |
