Interesting episode with one really horrible annoying character. Kasuga is quickly making himself a viable nominee for the anime loser hall of fame. Watching him is just painful. I don't blame either girl for being fed up with him. He's been given his fair shot.

Elopement! Nakamura looked pretty without wearing glasses. It reminded me of Maoyuu when she said she wanted to see over the mountain. OMG@what she did to him in front of Saeki. And WOW@what Saeki said and did then. One is good but boring, the other bad yet exciting. It's Nakamura who can unleash his inner nature. It was a thrilling moment when he was torn between them. He is indecisive and irritating, yet it's why the story is interesting. I wondered what was going to happen next and how the episode was going to end. Then they came and finish it. I didn't imagine it would end that way. Great episode! Well written, well executed. I was fully entertained. I think it's safe to say it reached the level of literature. In fact, watching the episode, some literary works came through my mind.

I was hoping to be able to criticise your favourites list in response to the "Real Anime Fans" comment but it isn't too bad (Apart for Kannagi, I wasn't a fan). In any case, enjoying an unconventional anime doesn't make us any less significant in the anime community and it's pretty childish of a thirty-odd year old man to imply that it does.

If you don't like the rotoscope then go and read the manga.

Kasuga finally is honest with everyone but particularly with himself. His indecisiveness is going to cost them all dearly at some point I'm afraid. And there was something strangely touching about seeing Nakamura's softer side, despite her bullying and generally unsavoury character.

did anyone catch him getting his test back way back in ep1? the teacher handed it back to him and it had lots of red marks, the number 52 (percent? if so thats really bad obviously), and he told him to try harder next time

clearly they set it up from the very start that hes not some genius wizkid. seems like it might have been meant to foreshadow his confession of being a poser

thought that was a nice touch

Saeki was the one to make me the most uncomfortable. The way she tries so hard, I do have more difficulty understanding her than I do when it comes to Kasuga and Nakamura. So, of course, even after all the crazy things Nakamura put Kasuga through I felt kind of bad for her. >.>;

Good episode, a tribulation unnerving not ever remember seeing her. The reactions of Takao, are in line with the character and with age, the thing that intrigues me and learn more about Nakamura today for the first time showed a afaccia different from the usual. Saeki has already given up the shot? Next week promises to be prolific, I can not wait!

This is a great place for episode 10 to be at. Kasuga saying he didn't really understand Baudelaire...touching. I don't think he's giving himself much credit though, considering how young he is.

I cannot fathom at how anyone feels that there is romance between Nakamura and Kasuga. If I am wrong please correct me but all I have seen is a crazy abusive girl messing with the head of a reserved boy with extreme lack of self respect. How people go "unf Nakamura-chan and Kasuga kun love each other so much, I can tell when she forces him to strip and he lies on the floor crying". Wat?

Is it because he got the hots for her looking at her breasts in the rain? I'm sure most men would have that physcial reaction but in no way do I feel like that constitutes romance. Saeki is either desperate or truly loves Kasuga.

It's common to look at the relationship between a male and a female, especially in an anime, only through the prism of love (e.g. "Does he love her/him, how, and why?"). Not that it's unwarranted, but for more complicated anime that deviate from the cookie-cutter character personalities and psyches, it can lead to over-simplifications, in some cases even misunderstandings. Sure, Kasuga and Nakamura are both boy and girl, and guys will always be attracted to girls in a sexual way--she was dripping wet in a T-shirt after all. Does he stick with her and her 'abuse' strictly because he loves her somewhere deep inside? That's debatable.

I'd say it has more to do with Kasuga's personality than any sort of love or attraction he feels for Nakamura. That's not to say that that he can't or won't develop those feelings for Nakamura, but I see 'love' as a secondary factor in the development of his relationship with Nakamura. Kasuga's 'confession' showed us that he was empty inside; he was trying to find meaning and a sense of individuality by reading complicated literature, but it was a false guise since not only was he unable to understand it, but he used that persona as a way to fill that emptiness inside of him. Nakamura was the entity that filled the void within him and painted that blank canvas inside of him with black. His interest in her is that she gives him a sense of meaning and an identity (or perhaps to reaffirm what he considers to be his inner-self, i.e. "But I'm not a deviant!"), and that is what I think is the primary reasons for their relationship. This relationship seems pretty mutual, but as I said love is a factor that I would consider as secondary.

Kasuga is using both girls as an escape. One his muse and one his saviour. Saeki isn't all of what he needs but he isn't as much of what Nakamura wants of him. He sounds like he wants to be a better person more like big over the top fantasy but he doesnt know how to become it so he feels he doesnt deserve to be around them.

"Why?" Stockholm Syndrome to the max. Oh yeah. As for Nanako herself... she's slowly turning into a big 'Y', I'd say. He knew how to describe himself, but nothing about doing something about it. So... are you a pervert or not? Decide.

I can see they're trying to cram content by cutting out the OP and animating while the ED is playing. This shouldn't be happening if they hadn't wasted all their prior time on showing off their backgrounds and on footage of people slowly walking to someplace.

3 episodes left. I wonder if they'll ever make it to that part in the manga that is a reasonable stopping point.

this anime is teaching me not to judge by its cover, or should i say animation in this part, could have so easily dropped this by episode 2.... taught me to get past bad animation or at least ones that don't suit my style and go purely on how good of a story it is, and the story behind aku no hana is spine tingling at times, so intense and atmospheric

Wow, good episode. Haven't watched this show in a while but it was a good episode to get back into. Very dark, loads of emotions ... wow, stripping Kasuga now are we? :P I'm impressed Saeki is staying and still saying she likes him ... I guess he just liked the idea of her rather than the person. Oh man and he couldn't choose between the two either ... surprised that Nakamura was crying at the end there too, ripping up the book and stuff. Clearly she just wants to get away ... but everyone ended up getting caught by the police. Well, it'll be interesting to see how this wraps up anyway :P

Honestly, how are they middle schoolers?

He doesn't deserve Saeki and she can definitely do better.

Nakamura + Him deserve each other. I know it's a destructive combination, but Saeki needs to get out of this situation.

Yea you gotta give Nakamura some credit at her ability to fuck with someone's head so well. That and Saeki telling him she still wants to be with him really screwed his mind since you'd never think a normal girl would EVER say that after all the stuff he's done O.O

THIS. I suspected as much from the very beginning, from his repetition of her being a "muse", "femme fatale","angel". Those are platonic concepts that show he really isn't seeing her for what she is, especially when you consider "femme fatale" and "angel" are pretty much antagonic. How can she be actively seductive AND innocent at the same time?
Furthermore, it has happened to me twice that I idealized girls I fell for, attributing to them characteristics that they did not have. For better or worse, I am way more cautious now in love. So I can empathize with him for being rather pathetic in this regard.
But at least he got the "angel" part right. Only an angel would repeatedly put up with so much crap and still love him.
