kinda getting tired of them just throwing out these works of literature in such a way that it's like "HEY, HEY, NOTICE ME! NOTICE HOW DEEP I AM." The show is perfectly fine without those references since the show already does an excellent job of setting.

Overall great episode. Classic urobuchi.

I didnt really know i will ever agree with Makishima and say ''HES RIGHT!'', but damn, he has so many good points there.People are blind, they are like some kind of SS puppets that are just walking and ''living'' everyday.Who the hell would want to be manipulated by some machines that decide if you should or not to live.He is definitely too brutal, but i think im starting to understand his way of doing things.Of course im not saying that hes right in every way.You cannot kill innocent people just to achieve a goal even if it's ''needed'', even if there's no other way.But then comes question, how to make world different without sacrifices.I really want to see what will they do in the end.

Amazing episode. The best episode of this show so far, by a long shot. If the show can maintain this level of momentum to the end, that could really push this show to the top.

Another great episode. Liked the new OP and ED.

That was really clever...
Creating a way to copy the psycho-pass of a nearby individual.
I think anything can be used to do it too. In this case Makishima made them used helmets, like masks.
I wonder what did he used when Akane confronted him?
We now know that he was using her friend's psycho-pass at that moment.

Great ep.

I know it's kind of messed up, but I agree with Makishima's methods lol.

I know I wouldn't want to live in a world that's controlled by computers where everything you do is already decided for you.

The fact that everyone just looked on as that chick was getting beat to death just shows how wrong the system is. Everyone just lives like sheep as Makishima said.

With that said, he's obviously going to get caught and die but hopefully in the end the system gets changed.

It's because of Makishima that girl had to die, otherwise that guy the second he goes out to murder her, would get caught by the scanners and alerted. I agree with you for the most part, but agreeing with Makishima's methods is borderline insanity! What he's doing is EVEN MORE wrong than living like sheep. Yes, they are living like sheep, but they're safe to say the least until people like Makishima came.

Nothing. He's one of those rare cases where the CC is low. He's criminally asymtomatic.

Well, techically yes.I guess i should've say ''less innocent'' people then?.I meant the people who don't really do anything bad to others, or at least try to be ''normal''.Im sure you know what i mean, even if i can't really explain it with my words.

Awesome episode! Great on every level, except the shitty OP song... Anyway, I'm starting to like this anime more and more.

Also, a thought about the helmets: if Makishima keeps helmet-wearing goons around him, they will all be untargetable by Dominators, because they will all inherit his ultra-low CC.

All those people seeing that woman being killed... just like that... seemed exaggerated to me, Masaoka said he lived before the sybil system so it's no THAT old, and some people in the scene looked old.

Yes but keep in mind that Masaoka has a high Crime Coefficient BECAUSE he didn't really accept the Sybil System in the first place. It's safe to assume that other old people got assimilated in the new society, via stress treatments/brainwashing or maybe they were "sheep" anyway.

ZOMGWTF!!! Has the Sibyl System kept these citizens so sheltered that they have no idea what rape and murder look like when it's done right in their faces? That was quite disturbing to watch! And the victim didn't even try to fight for her life. Are they so bad off now that the natural instinct of fight or flight has left their minds as well? 'Tis a pity...

Also, the helmet scans for the lowest CC within a certain proximity, right? If Kougami's is 282, then does that mean that Masaoka's is even higher? I shudder to think...

just goes to show how much control the sibyl system has over everything.
if the guy is killing someone right in front of them, but his psycho pass is stable, then he's obviously not doing anything wrong... :/

makishima was also a beast at the end

This is one of the main reasons why I love Psycho-Pass, each case delivers a new fresh idea on exploring the flaw of the Sibyl System. Showing the murder in front of the crowd to create awareness is just a tip of the iceberg for Makishima. He definitely has a bigger plan for it.

Funny moments between Kogami and Akane

On the side note, isn't Psycho-Pass OST supposed to be released today?

The worst part of this episode has to be the drone asking the victim to do something about her rising stress. Whoever designed the system has to be really incompetent, and yet it passed through all levels of government and got implemented. And of course, the everyday people accepted it as they were told.

Reminds me of my recent local news about a girl who killed herself in a jail cell as the guards watched. She had a habit of self harm. Every time guards intervene, paperwork that reflects negatively on the correction center has to be generated.

So the top admin gave the order to not intervene unless she stops breathing. And people, of course, follow orders well when the core responsibility doesn't appear to be on their shoulders.

Really dark and brutal direction with this episode. Scissors in the mouth, the bat, "shudders" Makishima is trying to cause widespread panic or revolt (a revolution perhaps) against the sibyl system. The citizen bystanders is an example of the indoctrination of the sibly system. People do not know how to react to an unheard of murder in broad daylight without the scanners picking it up so they watch on passively. Best episode yet!

So those helmets mimic the nearest person's psycho-pass. It was crazy to see that guy beat up that woman in the street. That guy's room was so creepy. Pictures of that woman everywhere. It was awesome to see Kougami acting badass intellectually.
Holy fuck at Makishima. Beating up those thugs so easily and then stabbing the baseball bat down that guy's throat. He's such a great antagonist.

Fascinating episode of Psycho-Pass this week. 2 things:

1. They need to stop referencing novels in every episode. Last week was Heart of Darkness, if I remember correctly. But hey, at least they stopped with the quoting!

2. Not a single onlooker was willing to do anything? Really? I get the point Urobuchi is making here, but come on...

Other than that, much better than the previous two episodes.

Wow the deaths this week were brutal even more so than the mid season finale with Shogo Makishima. Another piece of the puzzle is thrown out there with the mysterious person Shogo is in contact with and the stuff he stole.
His contact sounded like Choe Guseong imo. Seems like he is Makashima's second in command or something.

Not at all, how could it perpetually go down, especially considering her life was on the line, if he was using hers, it would of went up.

The new OP animations are hype as fuck.

On another note, from watching episode 1, either Kougami's psycho pass recovers since he can't shoot the masked chainsaw dude, or it is just reading Makishimas and replicating that, it's a 30 foot/yard range right?

of course it can, we thought that was crazy but IIRC there's this case in china when a child was struck by a van and about 14persons passed by the child and do nothing.

highly satisfied with OP animation, not too keen of the ED animation, episode is really epic, temporarily afraid with scissors and baseball bat for now..

Makishima is absolutely right.

Evil ways to wake up society from its slumber, as drastic and cruel as needed to open peoples eyes.

Indoctrination at its finest.

Not very different from our society in a way, people indoctrinated by mass media and eating propaganda like crazy. Sybil system is like the wet dream of corporations, governments, people in power in general.

We are en-route to that kind of society.

Wooow, just wow. I need to sit back and relax a bit after watching this. Sweet OP, nice ED, thanks mr. producer for listening to the fans.

That stationery guy really hated that poor woman for some reason. I assume while being a hikikomori he projected his anger/frustration/etc at her pictures and Makishima and his party did a good deed and set him loose with a cover so he could hunt his prey. Does Makishima have like a list with all the dissidents/crazy/mentally unstable people? That would make a great army.

Kogami's so far the one who still 'functions' correctly, his hunch was spot on and he seemed used to this kind of situation. Ginoza was b-sn them all, Masaoka reacted kinda weird talking about the old days, heh I guess he misses them old fashioned guns? and the other Enforcers were just waiting orders while doubt creeps in when it comes to Dominators.

bakuramariks said:

Isn't this foreshadowing? o.O ;_;.

So what's next, Makishima hijacking a news broadcast in some high-density area and showing recordings of people being brutally killed and making some kind of political statement? Will that work on the sheep or they'll just stare and think it's a prank? Too easy. And he still has some aces up his sleeve. Uuuh. Not sure if I wanna watch the next episode.

Those people's instincts have been numbed, pretty much what happens in today's society. It's Sybil system for them, mass media for us. Gah.
