Wait. What about the 800 other people still trapped in the game? And the whole mind control plot? Isn't Kirito going to stop that?

I doubt it increases DVD/BD sales that much (at least not more than it does for most other anime), the people here seem eager to buy no matter what mistakes the adaption makes. Now, perverted franchise articles such as oppai mousepads... these things will sell!

This episode, guise. This episode.

What was happening? Really? Can anyone tell at this point?

What I can glean is that he used the admin card (which could only be used with consoles as explained by Yui) to open the door and get Asuna, and then they got ambushed by Sugou and his OP Gravity Magic. Cue NTR with Asuna, Kirito somehow gets admin powers from a dead Kayaba Akihiko (gee, what a good plot twist guise) and then completely owns Sugou for all the fanboys at home crying.

Okay then. Is this how it goes in the LN? If so, is the LN truly any better?
And what if all love is an act of bravery?

It's a bit better, at least from what I read in volume 1. However, being better than horrible doesn't mean it is actually any good.

Meh, Vol 1-4 is the weakest link in SAO, you still have your power of love bullshit, and the system login bullcrap. Vol 5 onwards, the writing quality improves, and so far, no 50 caliber asspulls. The advantages that the LN,to this season, is more detail to fill in holes, and a bit more clear on development, but that's been said to death.

One word: Heathcliff.

That guy is beyond great. Strange, cruel, mysterious, generous. He's both good and bad. Perfect "villain". The main villain in ALO was awful, generic, cliche, just evil for the sake of being evil, all he lacked (as some pointed out before me) was evil moustache.

I guess that's also the reason why I like SAO part way more than ALO. I loved how he (Heathcliff (it's easier to remember than his name :D)) did strange things, but remained fair throughout the whole SAO. Even to the point he admitted he underestimated Kirito in their first duel and had to cheat even though he didn't want to. I loved that.
On the other side, villain in ALO? Nothing. He was worthless, laughing material.
Like comparing Hamlet with Twilight.

I'm sorry if my post doesn't make sense, but I just had to write all of it. SAO in general was really decent show, a bit overrated in my opinion, not top 50 material (it was there for a long time) but top 100 for sure. I enjoyed some parts, hated others, but kept watching it and eagerly expecting next week to see how it all ends (well, it's not over yet, but you get my meaning).

But all in all, I wish there were more shows like this nowadays, and I especially wish there were more villains like Heathcliff.

I'm just sad he didn't play bigger part in the show. Personally (and I know it's beyond impossible) I'd like to see the whole show from his perspective. Whole SAO world with Heathcliff as main character, his POW, how he did what he did, what he hoped to accomplish, how he reacted to things happening, all of it. I think it'd make a great psychological show.

If anyone is still reading, a question for those who read LN (I started, but lack of time stopped me). Is Heathcliff "used" more in LN? Does he have more "screen time"?

Only his works/experiments get featured. That 'Seed' of his that he gave to Kirito plus a few more inventions of his will play a role later on, making him the indirect cause of future conflicts. Heathcliff himself? As of volume 11, he hasn't appeared...yet. Given how he's in the dead center of the virtual world, I wouldn't be surprised if he pops out again.

Not much.In the LN he helps Kirito and Asuna in the Murder Case.If the anime had included it it would be the first hint that Heathcliff knows too much about SAO's mechanics.Later in the LN after ALO we learn more about him and probably

A main problem that I had with this episode is that the confrontation with Sugou felt unnatural. I felt as though someone was poking my head with a stick, asking, "Do you hate him enough, yet?"

He just kicked Kirito in the face. Poke. "Do you hate him enough, yet?"
He just stabbed Kirito with his own sword. Poke. "Do you hate him enough, yet?"
He just licked Asuna's tears. Poke. "Do you hate him enough, yet?"

I don't like how villains are handled in this series. Kayaba admitted that he did not know/remember his own motives for trapping thousands of people in his virtual world. Sugou could have been an interesting, power-hungry scientist. Instead, they made him a forgettable madman, which was very disappointing.

I was hoping for one more hard fought fight, but it was all an emotional battle. Sugou being weak was expected, but I thought he would've summon some powerful boss monsters or something. They did a great job making me hate him though, no mercy was left.
