| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Yet Another Man's Battlefield (or something to that effect) I guess no one has seen it yet, or they are just too scared to start a thread since they think no one has seen it yet, so I'll kick things off. Came out on 8/25/2010 with vol. 13 of the DVD/BD FMA Brotherhood TV series. We get more of the Ishval annihilation campaign alongside how Roy and Hughes first met at the academy... and then what the war did to them. for those of you wondering, it does adapt the EXTRA BONUS CHAPTER WITH THE SAME NAME after some new original content. who will be the first to share opinions and/or statements about the content of this animated extra episode with me? |

| Overall best specials I've ever seen in an anime. They are usually crap filled with fan service but these were actually kind of good 8/10 |

| I wanted to see the "stray bullet" incident to be animated but Roy's past wasn't too bad. He looks too young, 18, 20 maybe? So that's where he met Hughes. Liked the 30 second wait of Hughes, a real strong friendship there. I missed FMA. Liked this last OVA. 8/10. Maybe a 9 if I change my mind. |

| AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOOOMEEE!!!!!!!!!! It makes me love Maes even more, and it's always a good thing to see him alive again.... I wouldn't mind the Brotherhood movie to be something like this episode (but it shouldn't be called FMA without Ed, right? :) ) It reminded me how much i love the series and how hard it is to try living without it. Long live Arakawa-sama! |

| Best of the four OVAs - this one was definitely my favorite. It wasn't just random, either. It had depth, which is something you really don't see in OVAs these days. I also liked the theme of how they were all fighting for something they believed in, each of the three entering the military for their own personal reasons. |

| Loved this OVA And so nice seeing Huges angain. I never thought that Mustang and Huges would become rivals at first. But I liked the idea that you don't really know about a person from your forst sight of them. And the 30-second wait was really good. Such great friends... makes me even more sad that he had to die T.T |

| Just... fantastic. It was awesome. Really enjoyed it, and loved finding out about how Roy and Hughes met. It was also neat seeing them when they were young~ Roy looked seriously worn out when they showed him on the battlefield, though. Poor guy. It seemed like the higher-ups were heavily relying on him (at least, with the few implications I could see D:' but I would expect it anyway since he's an alchemist...). | I loved seeing some background on Roy and Hughes~. Their competitiveness with each other was fun to watch. =)) Aw, Heathcliff. Felt sad/surprised when he shot Roy, then... Hughes shot him. Friends shooting each other is D: Assuming that they are friends, anyway. Poor Roy in the end. No one's waiting for him. :< |

| Amazing episode. Best out of the four. Roy's struggle through the Ishvalan war has always seemed so realistic to me, especially considering today's times. Very sad and true. |

| I'm speechless. If it wasn't for the armstrong theme playing in the end, I might have stared at the computer in shock for a few more days. Best OVA hands down. The story of Roy/Hughes and the Ishvalan... I'm speechless. Only FMA: Brotherhood can put so much depth into an ova. On a brighter note, Hughes and Roy competing reminded me of a friend of mine in gym class haha. ^^ 5/5. 9/10 overall. I'm glad i watched these OVA's. |
