Even though this seems like good news unless you get lucky and happen to live near a theather that is showing it it doesn't really mean much.

Like saying the US is just too broad and can be anywhere in the US.

Will wait to see where the screening is in the US. Hope there's one close to LA. One of the good things immigrating from the Philippines I guess. LOL

I live in America and still won't be able to see it. Don't live anywhere near any major cities, so it's pretty much the same as living in another country. Cost of plane tickets is tantamount to a country border.

Haha good luck. I live in an even bigger city [Chicago] and we never get anything. It's going to either be L.A., San Fran, NYC, or Boston. I guarantee it.

On the other hand I might just have enough miles built up to take a trip and visit friends in any of those 4 cities, so COME AT ME QB.

As much as I love PMMM, I think I'll wait for the Dvd/Bluray. I don't feel like flying halfway across the country for a movie, let alone a recap.

This stuff usually does happen in the California area so you are probably in luck....nothing like this ever comes to the Atlanta area though...

American Cities are: Houston, San Fransisco, NY, Chicago, LA....

But fuck, San Marino of all countries? Have they actually measured the amount of anime fans there? (and yes I'm counting the surrounding population in Italy as well, which I doubt has much anime fans. is there someone who wants to prove me otherwise?)

And lol @ that pic of the cast with the Statue of Liberty.

I live right by NYC, so if I beg my parents and do some work perhaps they could take me. I also live right by Chicago and have family who live there so by the off chance that it does premiere there I have an excuse to go.

Also, if it's coming out in America are they going to have subtitles or have it dubbed or just in plain Japanese?

If Madoka was really successful enough to land a spot in other countries theaters then I doubt that it'll end up being a failure, if that's what you're implying.

Whether you like it or not, Madoka is one of the biggest franchises and cash cows that have come across recently. The fact that the movies for it are coming out only increases the intensity of the fans ALL OVER THE GLOBE, so it's only natural that they'd choose to increase it's popularity and please the fans by having it shown in more countries. Despite your own opinion of the show, it's just that popular. And it won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

its interesting that they're showing it around the world
cause i'm gonna guess its going to bomb everywhere except in japan
ihateeveryone, i'd like to amend your statement-its insanely popular in japan but i don't see a lot of the popularity in the west

that being said this is the retelling right-so my caring went down until movie 2

Why would they take the risk of premiering it though if there wasn't some sort of demand for it in the west?

It's 18 cities - 5 cinemas in US from what I read. And in case of 4 of them there is only 1 screening.
So I doubt that there is much risk involved - unless they would make dubs for this (again rather unlikelly). If they go Ghibli-scale this could mean loosing money but like this... nope.

I do agree it will be successfull in Japan - it's currently second biggest franchise in magical girls genre AFAIK (first one is proably Precure), for sure bigger than Nanoha (and it made 5 mln$) so it should have way more than this.

BTW If someone wants to buy a ticket in US

San Marino, oh my God.
Maybe the most of you never heard of it (didn't read previous posts, I'm gonna explain it anyway).
It is located in North Italy and it counts about 30.000 people.
In other words, it's like a little city, but actually it is a little indipendent state, which is not part of Italy itself.
I wonder why it's among those big nations and why they choose it...
Anyway, I'm italian and I believe I'm gonna watch it (probably it will be in Rome)
