ichigo03 said: BlackRain_Ex said: When I wrote down those manga, I am going by how "good" the stories are.The world God Only Knows: YES Beelzebub: NO Sora no Otoshimono: NO Rosario + Vampire Season II: NO (Inner Moka becoming a damsel in distress was a letdown) To Love-Ru Darkness: NO (a lot better than the original TLR but not better than Negima. It's selling point is still fanservice and the harem plan hasn't been moving along) Only TWGOK is as good or better than Negima. Negima's story is NOT good at all, it makes no sense and has failed to accomplish it's objectives. We have 3 chapters left and yet there are many open ended questions that will probably never be answered. I understand that Negima is popular and it does have a good cast of characters, but strictly speaking about the plot....it has FAILED, big time! Whether or not R+V II, TLR Darkness, Sora no Otoshimono are likable or popular is NOT the point. The story for all those manga are cohesive, it's well put together, it combines ecchi and plot (Just like Negima) except they are doing it much better, at least I believe so. Negima IMO failed as a manga because it dragged on too long and the story became convoluted, there is no doubt about that. I like how I didn't even have to come back for other people to look at your list, find all of one series able to beat Negima (which I didn't even realize was Shonen) and call it bullshit. While I'm at it, if you honestly think Negima is complicated...I, don't know what to say. If you want to claim it's dragged out a bit, I won't argue that. But it is neither convoluted, nor complicated. Ken Akamatsu has created a fun, well-developed universe in Negima, and managed to develop nearly all of his gigantic cast. That you didn't like those developments and instead wanted it to be a piece of shit harem (because outside of like, Sekirei or Tenchi, that's all harem will ever be), isn't his fault. |

ichigo03 said: I disagree, I have seen on various forums how R+V readers are enjoying the arc that the manga is currently on, not to mention that unlike the first season, there is a strong story right now, rather than random fights within the school. The story right now is that Moka has been kidnapped and the gang now has to face a group of individuals in a series of deus ex Machina fights. Basically the standard generic arc plot of every battle manga in existence. ichigo03 said: Although Negima was great in it's first few arcs, everything has completely shattered every since all the nonsense from the end of the Magic world arc. This is funny. I actually thought Negima was terrible up until the martial arts tournament arc. ichigo03 said: Well, if you remember at the beginning Negima was mostly fanservice with a thin plot, honestly it worked better that way. Now it's so convoluted I highly doubt that the majority of the readers can properly know just what the hell this manga is even about. It's subjective. I for one found Negima's old style to be tedious and boring. Convoluted? I never felt that. Air gear was convoluted. ichigo03 said: I won't argue with your opinion to like Negima, however I don't believe anyone can properly say that Negima is at it's best right now.....because it's not. I once thought Negima was an excellent manga which was very creative with great characters and artwork. Now when I think of Negima, I think of it as if it's on the same realm of Bleach and Naruto. That's not good....frankly, I'm very happy this is ending, before it completely ruins itself. Hell, I might still think of it as a "Good" manga if the ending is good.....although to be honest, I highly doubt that Ken can save this manga with just 3 chapters left :/ I can say that Negima now isn't at it's best. But to compare them to the likes of naruto and bleach is over exaggerating. Those mangas are completely devoid of any entertainment whatsoever. |

Also, not a battle shounen R+V II - while last chapters are good, i still don't think it is better, or ever will be better than Negima. To Love-Ru Darkness - again, not a battle shounen. Basically the standard generic arc plot of every battle manga in existence. And you're going to tell me that all the fights in Negima weren't Deus ex Machina fights? C'mon, at least in R+V II the story is properly told and you don't have a million characters on screen and confusing "Star Wars type" battles where you don't even know who are the good guys. AidanAK47 said: It's subjective. I for one found Negima's old style to be tedious and boring. Convoluted? I never felt that. Air gear was convoluted. I understand that for some people it is tough to properly criticize a series they love so much, it is not hard for me. The first ever series I watched and read was Bleach, that's why my screen name is Ichigo03. But I'm not blind or delusional....Bleach sucks now, and it should've ended long time ago. I can say the exact same thing about Negima, it SUCKS now, it doesn't make sense and it's better for it to end now than become like Bleach or Naruto. |

It is soooooo Kodansha! The same they did with Tsubasa... I think that afther the Magic World Arc, they ask Akamatsu to finish the manga... Anayway, three chapters for finish it it's just lame... It is not enough time to finish that amount of stories... I just hope Akamatsu being able to do it, even though it is hard indeed. |

I would like to pass on a sentiment as a writer to a bunch of fans. I can't say whether Negima is good or not, because once more, I didn't get that far into it to really be the judge, but that notwithstanding, one of the most important things for a series is its ending. People can say that something is too long, or too short, but as long as it's ending comes at the right time, neither of those statements are applicable. In case its not clear I'll streamline what I'm saying. If you really love the series, or any series for that matter, stop hoping it will go on longer than it needs to. If the mangaka wants to end it, give your congratulatory clap and say "It was a good read" or what have you. By saying you want it to go on, you're essentially saying "I don't care what you have to do, make it longer!" |

While that's definitely true I think a big part of the issue is that this announcement comes right in the middle of the party taking on a large-scale quest to save the world which until just within these last few weeks looked like it was gonna be an entire story arc. Plus the main quest that has been driving the protagonist since the very first chapter still hasn't been given any sort of closure. While I'd be upset to see it end if the major plot points had been wrapped I'd also appreciate it from a narrative perspective. This right now doesn't feel like a conclusion though. It just feels like the story is stopping. |

I knew it was ending - I could tell from the pointless fillers that Akamatsu was filling the manga with. I must say that after the readers found out who LM was Nagi, it created more questions. The whole point of Negi's journey was to find his parents. Did he find them? No. I'm thinking that because they skipped a 100 years Akamatsu might create a side story of what happened in between? Not sure. |

Can't say I'm surprise this series ended. Lost interest in the series around after the Chao Festival future plotline. That's around when the series lost most of it's charm and instead became more of a fighting manga. He didn't concentrate on plotlines that should have been address instead he focus on bunch of other stuff. This ending is also a huge troll to all shippers, no one wins, I guess you can say no one loses either but still a troll ending for everyone. Lame. |

Well, they left it ambiguous. But if you look at their positions. at back [Fate] [Negi] at front [Asuna] [Inchou] I am assuming Inchou (Ayaka) got married to Negi, as I don't like Asuna. And to their positions, this is the conclusion I could make. It also says that she stays on the side behind Negi. Can't wait for the next work, Akamatsu-sensei! |
