My theory thus far; Misaki Mei isn't dead. She is shunned because her surname is believed to be cursed, hence the class goes bonkers about her. Mei visiting B2 could just be a huge troll, that her sister or brother works as a janitor or some lulz. The nurse's briefing could hint towards a sister, but it could really just be mere coincidence - not like Misaki is an uncommon name.

You know, this crossed my mind as well. Ghosts and vengeful spirits are scary and all, but I'd find it much creepier if Mei was actually still alive and shunned by her peers. Human behaviour is usually what makes my skin crawl, moreso than any supernatural beasties.

I don't completely subscribe to this theory though, just because of all the effort that's gone into suggesting that Mei is dead. But if it all turns out to be a nice big red herring, I wouldn't mind at all.

Few things are as fascinating as the human mind. And dead or not, I hope the show has us changing theories til the bitter end. As it stands now, anything could happen - and that's what makes it so enjoyable.

Can't wait till next week :D

heterochromia?
is she just embarassed being a heterochromia?
or there's something else with that blue eye?
i think there must be something with the blue eye...

It might have something to do with the heterochromia, there are different forms of it the one we usually see in Anime is a very rare form about 1 in 250.000 that is inheritable but harmless. Then you've got other forms which can be harmfull it's possible to basically become blind on one eye because of heterchromia. So maybe she has to wear the eyepatch because of some kind of medical reason (even though she might already be death.).

Ok that's a given

Oh fuck you cliffhanger!

This was a good episode, it was much better paced than the first episode and just gave me more to care about and be interested in than the first. I still dont like how little I know seeing as I'm almost a quarter in, but overall, this was good.

Also while the production values are good, I dont like the music here and I dont like the way the backgrounds clash with the objects, it just looks odd to me.

It seems like Kouichi is obsessed with Misaki to such an extent that he turnes away from people he was speaking with as soon he sees a glance of her. No doubt that this attitude will lead him into trouble.

Once again I'm impressed with the mood the show managed to create. It's calm and nothing big happens yet it's not dull . The soundtrack is very fitting and elevates the atmosphere immensely. I assume that the pacing for this will be rather slow so I'm not surprised if the truth won'tl be revealed until the end.

The conversation in the art class was so ridiculously awkward and poorly directed. Stupid creepy music and the screenplay really drag this kinda interesting anime down.

I love the background music but I do almost feel like it was almost too good and too strong for this episode at points.

Good cliffhanger though, and I am really interested to learn what's going on if nothing else.

Hard to resist reading the manga though.

Time sure did pass by during this episode, I didn't notice and it was already over - that proves that the series has this certain "something" to it. And as for the episode - it reminds me of... the first chapter of Umineko and the question arcs of Higurashi (not anime - visual novels, the anime didn't have the atmosphere at all). Toned colours, creepy music, and that thick, almost sticky, atmosphere... yes, this show has an incredible potential and I pray for it to achieve a huge success. That would mark the very first good anime horror.

I don't believe the series particularly states why he did (maybe the manga does or something that'll be touched on in the future?). But if I was in his position, realize that he is a huge horror lover. He likely is not saying outloud his full thoughts on the situation but he definitely can sense something is wrong here. I believe the reason he keeps on following Misaki is because he knows there's something wrong with her. He doesn't know what, but she might have answers.

A person who loves horror naturally is attracted to something completely unnatural, even if it frightens them. He opted to ask the nurse about deaths after he saw Misaki go into the morgue at night, Misaki told him the students associate his name with death and the class is closest to death, that one student with glasses didn't seem to know who Misaki was, she seems to disappear randomly... All very suspicious and so he opted to ask directly if anyone died. He's still trying to piece it together obviously but is more to himself about it. When he see's the doll that sort of looks like Misaki he formulates that it might be Misaki (especially when it starts talking), but then see's it was just her in the shop.

However, I do think Misaki is dead. First of all, I've noticed that no one ever looks at Misaki. She always appears out of nowhere, and even in the scene with the librarian, notice how he never looks at or even acknowledges Misaki. I've seen enough horror works to know to look for details like these since their almost always the biggest hints. Also, the doll house owner stated there were no other customers, and then Misaki is in the building even though she clearly stated there were no other customers.

All things to think about.

Cliffhanger! >:(
For some reason my video decided to stop when Sakakibara got the call saying that it was a junior high girl that died... creepy.
And no one has acknowledged Mei since the show started.. even the librarian.. weird. Maybe Mei is dead? Is it possible to die from a collasped lung? Maybe Sakakibara died but came back to life and that's why he can see Mei?
And those dolls need to be burned! D: This show is really getting interesting. 5/5.

off topic.
During first episode ,they explain that long ago, there is a student in the class died and people felt sad for him/her.Later they decide they ignore her death and they start to recognize her existent even thou she is already died.It is a very heartwarming story but its kinda creepy as well.

after searching the web for a while, I found a similar case such as this one.

The series tends to portray over social issues instead of a horror to me xDD

IMO, the reason why its creepy is because they put those forced random eerie music and those random dolls popping out randomly. xDD It wasn't the best idea to insert them without the appropriate scene but it helps me to remind that this is a horror show and things havent started yet. Those dolls might represent something but I still don't know yet. I actually laughed at the random doll's expressions, they look so funny xDD

I am truly intrigued with Misaki's story... As for the classmates, they are hiding something. o.o It might because of that main dude is related to the one who died 26 years ago. Maybe they have the same last name or maybe it has bad meaning.

I hope next episode it will get better since the creepiness seemed forced to me... D; But its still a great episode overall. Art is outstanding and Misaki is so.....cute.... >w<

You can see without looking, Mei could be shunned as well.

The librarian could just have acknowledged her when she entered and sat down, no need to look at her when he talks to Sakakibara. Besides, he stops just besides her, so in one way he does acknowledge her by being near. He could be her friend or maybe even protector? Even more so, why stop in the middle and not get closer or stay at the bookshelves?

The dollhouse is named Studio M, which could stand for Misaki. Should it be true, then technically Mei wouldn't be viewed as "customer" if she was directly related.

I advocate a less supernatural structure, and hope for some groundbased explanations but do however leave room for the more commonly used as your points state.

Love isn't just lighthearted. Love is diverse. It can exist and be mix in almost many types of genres. Love isn't always light, good, or happy. Love can exist anywhere with people. As Yumekichi11 said, love can be dark, twisted, and creepy. And I don't see anything bad about it nor would it ruin the enjoyment of the series.

That kind of dolls is so creepy. And that old lady too. It's quite annoying when protagonist don't ask the obvious questions. I would have asked the old lady why does she keep a shop that has no clients and why doesn't she do anything to make it appear as a shop since you can't even be certain from the outside.

Btw our protagonist is quite the strange one. He already suspects something is wrong with Misaki but at the same time he has become something of obsessed with her and a stalker.

As about the other students. Well they are obviously hiding something but i still don't get their dead reaction when he first introduced himself to the class. That reaction makes you feel they ain't very alive but from some things they said this episode(the guy saying how bad luck he had being put in the cursed class 3) seem to hinter that except the secret about the class they may be normal people. So which is it?
If they are completely normal people and the director put those dead faces just for the atmosphere then i will be pissed because i don't like having mysteries giving wrong clues. That's bad directing.

And lol at that guy teacher. The guy speaks even more boringly than some of my worst teachers. Who will pay attention to that class and not have it's mind wonder off? He acts like a freaking zombie. The female teacher at least acts more normally whether she's normal or not.

The "lemon-chan's Scream"

Here is the popular Edvard Munch "The Scream" >.<"

Most people will see this and will judge that the lemon-chan guy is screaming but in this Anime they explain that it is the surrounding that is screaming and that guy is covering his ear.The couple(his friend) walking the opposite direction as if they they abandon him alone. If the guy is screaming, they should face toward him and be curious on what is going on but since its the environment that scream, it does not make sense that the couple doesn't plug their ears as well . <,<"
hmm... I wonder does this has anything to do with this Anime's story . no spoiler here lol

There is a simple way to open wikipedia if you are using google chrome...

Just reload, and when it opens page (before blackout) click on X for stopping reload...

That is one in upper left corner.

But for those who don't wanna deal with that, here :D

Seito Sakakibara (酒鬼薔薇聖斗, Sakakibara Seito?) is the moniker of a then-14-year-old student from Kobe, Japan who murdered an 11-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl between March and May of 1997. Also identified as Onibara (due to an error in reporting by the Japanese media), his real name has not been released to the press as per Japanese legal procedures prohibiting the identification of juvenile offenders, and he is officially referred to as "Boy A" in Japanese legal documentation.

On May 27, 1997, the head of Jun Hase (土師 淳, Hase Jun?, ca. 1986 - May 27, 1997), a special education student at Tainohata Elementary School, was found in front of the school gate hours before students arrived for classes. Hase had been beheaded with a knife, with further mutilations being done before being left in front of the school, for students to discover when they arrived in the morning. A note, written in red pen, was found stuffed in his mouth, identifying the killer as "Sakakibara." The note read:

"This is the beginning of the game... You police guys stop me if you can... I desperately want to see people die, it is a thrill for me to commit murder. A bloody judgment is needed for my years of great bitterness."

Additionally, some English was on the note as well: "shooll [sic] kill".

Police commented that the style of Hase's killing and the note was reminiscent of that of the Zodiac murders in the San Francisco area during the late 1960s.

On June 6, a letter was sent to the newspaper Kobe Shimbun, in which Sakakibara claimed responsibility for the slaying and decapitation of Jun Hase, and threatened that more killings would follow. This second letter, delivered in a brown envelope postmarked June 3, had no return address or name. Enclosed was a three-page, 1400-word letter, also written in red ink, which included a six-character name that can be pronounced as "Sakakibara Seito." The same characters, which mean alcohol, devil, rose, saint and fight, were used in the first message that was inserted into the boy's mouth.

Beginning with the phrase "Now, it's the beginning of a game," the letter stated that "I am putting my life at stake for the sake of this game... If I'm caught, I'll probably be hanged... police should be angrier and more tenacious in pursuing me.... It's only when I kill that I am liberated from the constant hatred that I suffer and that I am able to attain peace. It is only when I give pain to people that I can ease my own pain." The letter also lashed out against the Japanese educational system, calling it "compulsory education that formed me, an invisible person."

In the initial panic, the Japanese media misreported the name as "Onibara" - Demon's Rose, though the killer insisted it was as he gave it. Infuriated by the mixup, Sakakibara later wrote to the station, "From now on, if you misread my name or spoil my mood I will kill three vegetables a week.... If you think I can only kill children you are greatly mistaken."

A 14-year-old junior high school student was arrested as a suspect in the Hase murder on June 28. Shortly after his arrest, "Boy A" also confessed to the murder of 10-year-old Ayaka Yamashita (山下彩花 Yamashita Ayaka) on March 16, as well as the assaults of three other girls on and around that same date.

The personality profile of Sakakibara is seen to be a classic case of hikikomori syndrome. In an analysis of the case, journalist Gamal Nkrumah wrote:

The worst thing about the Sakakibara case is that one might have seen it coming. Yet neither his family — nor Japan — heeded the tell-tale signs. Japanese children are confronted with an extremely difficult examination at the tender age of six. Their performance effectively determines their whole future, for it decides whether they will go to a good elementary school, or one of the despised state schools. Parents have no faith in the state system, and Sakakibara's mother was no exception. She pressured her first-born to excel at school, even though social workers warned her that her son was mentally unstable. He was already torturing and killing young animals as a 'hobby'. Soon after, he began physically attacking girls as he walked to school.

In addition to the hikikomori angle, analysts and psychologists have found a number of disturbing similarities to serial killer Tsutomu Miyazaki. Like the 1989 "Otaku Murderer," Sakakibara was apparently set on a violent path from the very beginning. He began carrying cutting weapons while still in elementary school, writing in his diary that "I can ease my irritation when I'm holding a survival knife or spinning scissors like a pistol." At age 12, he exhibited extreme cruelty to animals, lining up a row of frogs in a street and riding over them with his bicycle, as well as mutilating cats and decapitating pigeons.

After the March 16 attack, he wrote in his diary: "I carried out sacred experiments today to confirm how fragile human beings are... I brought the hammer down, when the girl turned to face me. I think I hit her a few times but I was too excited to remember." The following week, on March 23, he added: "This morning my mom told me, 'Poor girl. The girl attacked seems to have died.' There is no sign of my being caught... I thank you, God (Bamoidōki), for this... Please continue to protect me."

Additionally, a search of Sakakibara's room turned up thousands of H manga volumes and pornographic videos and anime, enough so that Japanese politician Shizuka Kamei called for restricting objectionable content, stating, "Movies lacking any literary or educational merit made for just showing cruel scenes... Adults should be blamed for this," and that "[t]he incident gives adults the chance to rethink the policy of self-imposed restrictions on these films and whether they should allow them just because they are profitable."
