Still continues with childhood arc, and going to Karuta school together.

So they can still plan before the match?! Wow.

LOL it's like Chihaya vs. Arata at a point!!

So the student knows about young Arata... he's famous for winning the competition!!

Sometimes young Arata is so scary!! And there's competitions for 3 in team (but only 2 remaining at the final).

Chihaya learning to truth about both guys leaving her making her quit karuta.

The karuta teacher is nice to her.

They still lost because young Arata is sick.

Chihaya challenging Arata before he leaves, and Arata's cry.

If this anime goes similiar to the manga, this episode should mark the end of the childhood arc.

Wow they just blew past all that in the manga! lol :P I'm glad though because now we leave the childhood arc (and those matches weren't important anyway). I'm happy we're finally getting to the teenage arc which is what I want to see. A grown up Arata voiced by none other than Yoshimasa Hosoya (Nezumi from No.6)! I can't wait!

This episode went fast for me like they were jumping from scene to scene. I understand the need to speed up the pace but I couldn't really get into it because of that. It seemed overly dramatic but I still love this show. I can't wait for next week!

This series is one more example how Japanese could get quite boring thing and make interesting plot from it

oh this is good
very good

ok, not so much of the game - but I was used to it
it's all about characters - and they still are entertaining
if indeed a bit fast - or Deus Ex ending... but ok

now it should go on - so probably end of flashback
and still no sign of romance :D this is great!

I guess we will back to flashbacks later again. This ep was more fast paced.
Still one of the best shows of season. I'm enjoying it a lot!

I haven't reading the manga even thought Arata and Taichi doesn't go to the same school, they can still play kurata. :D
In the first episode it seem like Arata got a girlfriend, but that doesn't mean he still not like Chihaya.

What's wrong with Childhood Friend Arc anyway?
But I guess this will end now.

This episode was actually quite entertaiment, I don't know but kind of love Chihaya in this episode hehe, kind of laugh a bit of Arata evil passion.
Of course you can't defeat a national championship that easily but I'm happy that Chihaya got one card.

I don't know what happend in the tournament but I guess Arata & Taichi lost and Chihaya won her match or something like that.

Another good episode. Was easy to relate in some ways, when you're growing up and you finally realizing you and your friends aren't always going to stay together.

The scene in the snow was very cute though.

Absolutely flawless episode, it was one of the early highlights of this season, easily. The direction and development were simply perfect.

Seemed like a very fast episode to me, especially when compared to the damn near perfect pacing of the first two episodes. I'm guessing the staff just wanted to get this arc over with, which is unfortunate because I was quite enjoying this. As a result of that fast pace, all the crying felt very very forced.

Still, this continues to be the best (imo) series of the season alongside Fate/Zero. And, I do very much enjoy the three main characters and am looking forward to future developments. Just PLEASE slow down that pace just a little bit.

L O V E D I T !

This is probably the best anime for this season! I think next episode will show their High school life!

For the series overall, it had been great but this:

Ugh, no idea why this got to me emotionally. Good episode, I'm assuming this ends the flashback arc. The question that remains is whether or not the anime can maintain the momentum now that they're out of the flashbacks.

But Taichi is extremely irritating...

But I hope we won't have to see them play that game for a while, because it's really the most stupid game I have ever seen. Even curling is less stupid than this. =)

Arata was a lot more fun this episode, instead of being the emotionless kid he decided to be quite scary. And Taichi redeemed himself from being an absolute brat.

Chihayafuru will wear the best show of the Fall season crown until further notice. This episode was very easy to enjoy and I hope the rest in this anime stays this good.

My favorite part was the score. It was practically orgasmic. Who wrote this music? I want to listen to every anime this person has scored.

This episode was so fast, I wish they can make it into 2 episodes. But maybe they don't want to make the childhood part longer.. I'll just read that part in the manga, I think that one is slower..
Still, I can't wait for the next episode!

Great episode and I can't wait for more. This really finalized the ending of the childhood arc so I'd be really surprised if we had one more episode focusing on it since there isn't much else I can really see them covering.

It may have been fast but it has given us as much background on the three main characters as we need for the high school action. This is a very well-crafted show, I suspect it will be one of my favourites of the season.

Sigh. I can't do it anymore. I spent most of the episode nitpicking over just how awful karuta is, and I can't take the characters seriously when they worship the stupid game like it's chocolate covered bacon. It's such a shame too, since the show has so many good qualities. I just can't get past the premise. Dropped.
