I really want to hear what you guys think. When there's a really popular anime out their, most time when I hear people hating on a series, they always say something like " This anime doesn't deserve so much praise it's getting" or this " This anime is ok, but it's too popular and for that I hate it, even though it is a ok series". When I see these comments I just think people are upset that the anime they like is not as popular as this anime. What do you guys think? Are people just jealous of a series? and I'm talking about any popular series it could be one piece, code geass, death note , naruto, sword art online, or attack on titan. any popular series. |

I dont hate a series just because its popular I hate a series because in my honest opinion I believe it to be a shit anime that just happens to be popular at the time. E.g. Kill La Kill i dont understand the hype surrounding this anime.. Anyway hate is strong word I just won't watch it. |

I kinda agree, I love one piece a give it a 9/10, but sometimes the fanbase can get really annoying. Saying it's the best, same thing for other fanbase, So I can understand why some people hate on a series. It simple depends on if you really like the series that is popular, you wont have no complaints of its popularity. |

More popularity = more people watching it = more fans being cultivated and, on the other side of this relationship, more people hating it. That's ultimately why popular shows are more often despised. |

I don't hate an anime because it's popular, I'm just more strict to it and it's not even because I have high expectations, I simply notice details better so I can make fun of it even more. |

No, fans make hate an anime, not how popular it is. Litrydow said: Yes, it's a simple logic: something becomes popular exactly because it is bad, because the masses have shit taste. Yes, when Shingeki was just a manga without anime i just saw praise for it, now after the anime, it's considered shit. metamorphius said: keragamming said: Litrydow said: Yes, it's a simple logic: something becomes popular exactly because it is bad, because the masses have shit taste. I don't like bad series. If one of them happens to become popular and sprout fans that are claiming it's the best show ever and label everyone who disagrees a hater, the need to voice/argue that dislike becomes more regular compared to a series that nobody knows or everybody dislikes. Fans are quick to call that hating while I call it disagreeing-that-it's-one-of-the-best-shows. |
I probably regret this post by now. |

If an anime is only seen by 10,000 people and 10% hate it then the anime has a thousand haters. If an anime is seen by a million people and 10% hate it then the anime has a hundred thousand haters. There's always going to be a minority of people who don't like something, no matter how popular or unpopular it is. As the number of fans grows so does the number of haters. |

The problem is that not all obscure/unpopular shows are actually disliked by the masses, they may just not know about them because of age/no subs/bad marketing and maybe they would love them after all. So while you can rightfully say that popular stuff is shit because the masses with their bad taste like it, this method becomes more problematic if you try to turn it around. |

I don't particularly hate any shows because I look into them before I watch them. I don't think being popular could really affect it accept when the producers intentionally make random stuff up just to keep a series going or if the series isn't something I like. For example I don't like Cowboy Bebop, (that's pretty popular) , I just get a feeling as though its a chore to watch... |
