I'm going to have about $2,000.00 USD saved this October and I'm trying to decide whether I should get a gaming PC or Ps3 + Ps4. The only thing that's really holding me back from getting a gaming PC instead in the playstation exclusives , and the possibility that I'll have to spend a lot of money frequently upgrading my PC instead of buying a console 1 time for around 5 years lifespan I guess. How many times would you have to upgrade your gaming rig in an average console lifespan of 5 years or so? I am an rpg , jrpg, and japan related stuff fan , so some playstation exclusives are geared towards that catagory too (although I have my ps2 for the golden era rpgs still). It seems like you can play a lot of current Ps4 games on PC, the only real exclusives for Ps4 that interest me haven't come out yet (if they even are exlusives can't remember: FFXV, FF7 Remake) (Uncharted games) Ps3 has way more exlcusives than ps4 I suppose. But its quality over quantity I guess. I do have a 2012 macbook pro , but I definitely don't use it for gaming, mainly for web stuff, watching anime, and reading manga.. it can barely emulate some gamecube games lol I played path of radiance on it but boy could you tell the computer was heavily struggling, probably not trying that again xD Its annoying this computer can't play most visual novels I'm intersted in either, although I'm aware you don't have to have a super powerful PC to play VNs though (i.e. could buy a cheap laptop for that purpose only). Even my freaking phone emulates GBA, GBC, NES, SNES, N64, Ps1, and some PSP games haha I've tried looking for an answer in some other places online but I get a lot of troll responses. |

Depends on the kind of gaming you want to do. I have a gaming PC but I game way more on consoles. The kind of games I'm into are generally console exclusive. PC, imo, has pretty poor exclusives, especially if you're a jrpg fan. Yea, if you're a jrpg fan, I would just go with Playstation. You'll find a lot more jrpgs there than you will on a PC. maku21 said: ps3 + ps4? lol that's only a waste of money.. pc + ps4 is much better. How is it a waste of money? I don't see the point in getting a PS3. Most of the greatest exclusives are either already remastered or will be eventually. If you actually haven't played any of the PS3 exclusives, then definitely get a PS4. Start with The Last of Us Remastered, and later on the Uncharted Trilogy, God of War III if you've played the first two preferably, and get Bloodborne if you're a fan of games like the Souls series. I'm not a PC gamer myself, I've always been a console guy. It's just natural to me I guess. So I'm not gonna tell you to get into PC gaming, I'm not gonna tell you to not get into it either. |

I prefer playing on a console, I personally own a PlayStation 3. Still, I've tried PC gaming before and the gameplay is amazing. If your picky about graphics then buy it. It's up to you, if you decide to get a gaming PC - be prepared to spend a bit of money, as I heard you have to upgrade one in awhile. |

At the $2000 price point, you could build a PC that could last you this generation plus probably a good deal into the next. Or you could do the smarter thing and rather than blow it all on top-of-the-line parts, build a mid-range PC that will still get great performance and then use the extra money to buy either a PS3 or PS4 on the side. You can still build a really nice quality PC for around $1000-1300. That still leaves plenty to pick up a console on the side. |

I agree with the people who said PC, most of the games end up going on PC anywho. Only downside is that your friends will be bored if your playing games on the comp vs PC and you're gonna have to start dishing out some $$$ for a good rig. My PCs still surviving from 2009-10, just keep swapping parts out like a car. |

PS3 + PS4 combo is useless. Most of PS3 exclusive games are getting remaster for PS4 or being released in Steam. I think the best for you is a PS4 for main stuff and PC for games that you missed from PS3, like Valkyria Chronicles. |

It depends... I own a PS3 and a PS4 because of exclusive games and my friends also plays on those consoles. I don't really play that much games on my PC because my friends prefer playing on consoles. |

PC's aren't cost effective. PC's will be outdated with new parts every year. PS3 took 10 years to be outdated by the PS4. |

$1000 on PC $600 on ps4 with some games use the rest on whatever. OR I guess you can build a $1600 pc that would last you for quite some time, and spend the rest on a ps3 and some games, then get it soft/hard modded. For your taste in games, it doesn't make any sense to get a ps4 right now and a ps3 would be the better choice, but the ps3 doesn't have many jrpgs either. All of those went to the DS and PSP last generation. Basically, my suggestion is to build a kickass PC and use the rest of the money on either a ps3 or ps4. |

PC (~$1200) and a PS4. The only reason I can think of to get a PS3 instead is for Demon's Souls. Also, a gaming PC should also last at least 5 years if you build it yourself. Mine has, anyway. The upgrades will also only cost about the amount of a new video card. (~$300) |

Talk about double standards. Off to lunch and posting during work hours is like playing a stealth game of avoiding the boss. |

If I were to narrow PC games down to just the "PC Exclusives," there wouldn't be many fun games left, because all my favorite games are "Console Only." |

I don't like playing games on portable consoles. I will not play fighting games without an Arcade Stick. Anything that requires precise controls Action RPG, SHMUP, I will tend to avoid emulation. On topic the OP doesn't hate using emulators. With a PC you will have a lot more JRPG options than a PS3 and PS4. PS4 library of JRPG is a joke non existent. Some PS3 JRPG are already on PC. |

Just get a PC and emulate everything lol. Most of the good PS3 exclusives are remakes of PS2 games (which you can emulate). The PS4s exclusive library is terrible and probably always will be. |

Someone made an excellent point earlier, Ps4 really doesn't have any exclusives outside of uncharted that I'm really interested in.. So that essentially makes a $1000.00 + PC a better Ps4 since this generation of gaming seems to be so concerned with multiplats instead of exclusives. I've pretty much exhaustively looked at Ps3 RPG and JRPG catalog. I played most of the tales of games, I played Skyrim, both fallouts, red dead redemption, valkyrie chronicles, the last of us (owned a ps3 before, it broke 1.5 years ago) . not intersted in the souls games at all or bloodborne, not ni no kuni, Most of the other Rpgs for ps3 not interested in just by reading descriptions and skimming reviews. The main pull in general of playstation exclusives for me seems to be uncharted , metal gear legacy collection, and not much of anything else lol I'll probably get a computer with GTX 980 .. already have a good 1080P 23.3'' monitor ! From what I've read 4K gaming is still in its infancy , so no need to get 4K screen or ridiculously overpowered computer to support 4K gaming. Since I have a WiiU I can Play WiiU and Wii games normally. I can actually emulate most other nintendo games except for 3ds I suppose so thats cool. I also Have a ps2 so most of the great rpgs were from that older era anyways (playing xenosaga ep 1 right now).. I may get a Ps4 in somewhat distant future (late 2016 or sometime 2017) if FF XV is actually good and is console exclusive..and if I cave to play Uncharted games lol I'm also looking into getting into Visual Novels a bit more frequently haha. Hopefully this PC will last a few years, ideally for a console gen so 4-5 years? Update graphics card maybe once in that time.. |
