Even though this is not an official Anime. What would be your score?

7 or 8 would be mine

I would give it a 7 or 8 as well, it may not be officially "anime" per say, but it is still pretty good.

I think its an 8, the reason being its aimed at younger audiences...It has the potential to be epic win on a huge scale, but of course thats not what they're going for. Still, nice animation, likable characters (who grow), and fighting styles make it worth watching. The generic plot often unfolds with small twists, but is plagued by filler-type episodes. Overall, an enjoyable show but nothing greater than that. Wow that sounded very review-like >.>

I also say a 7 or and 8 because even though it was made so little children could watch it too, it still has some pretty sweet fight scenes also. I used to watch it, every Friday or something because that's the only time it was on, but I wasn't a hardcore fan, just thought it was cool with a neat storyline.

i would say 9 because the art is good and so is the story but some of the Characters bug me even if they grow a bit. i don't watch it all the time but if its on ill watch it book 2 seemed like a huge gaping hole in the story.

8, i think. it's better, story-wise and stylistically than most anime aimed towards that audience, but it's not the best.

8 I think...
I enjoy the world's design... very creative. It's the only anime-influenced cartoon that I think actually does a decent job. Oh, and Zuko. I really feel sorry for him! XD

I watched 2 episodes on the ABC channel (children's channel). I thought it was terrible.

Something something about some fire avatar called General Zhao or something. Then he blew up some ships.Bleh.

I'm not trying to be an overprotective fangirl or anything, but have you ever tried to watch an anime from a random episode in the middle and gotten really into it?

It's like a 50% chance it'll suck, just because you have no idea what was going on. The first episode I ever saw of Full Metal Alchemist was somewhere in the middle, and I thought it was the crappiest/most cliche show I'd ever seen. It wasn't until I watched it from the beginning that I understood what was going on, and found out it was actually pretty good.

One of my friends actually disliked Gurren Lagann because he watched some random episode first, but after watching it from the beginning, it's now his alltime favorite anime ever.

Just sayin'

It's funny I say this; I haven't watched avatar in over a year, hahaha

Avatar the Last Airbender is a fun cartoon series. I give it an 8 for its strong mix of characters, story and art. The music is also pretty cool. Oh yeah, a lot of the martial art fighting scenes were also very well done. There aren't a lot of cartoons today with this kind of quality. You'd have to rewind back to the early 90s and throughout the 80s for that.

I give Avatar a 10. It may be a children's show, but the show acknolwdges its adult audiance. It is extremely serial, which may off otaku who come to it thinking it is just an ordinary cartoon. It has identifiable characters, and a fun world to live in. It is also wonderfully writen. You can fell the pride the production staff had when they made it.

Anime-zing music for the masses.

I completely agree! Though I did give it a 6. It's more like it has the potential to be something great, but it's goal was simply to entertain younger audiences with an interesting storyline and like-able characters with a fantasy element.

Edit: Grammar.

What's with the hate votes guys? Are we all children?

Anyways, I rated this series 8/10. The reason because it's a perfect mixture of comedy, romance, and action (with good animation too), but it's not very meaningful, which is what I look for in anime. It's damn enjoyable, but it carries no "wow moments," so it can't jump up to my very high ratings.

I give it a solid 7/10 because its better than most of the crap on Nickelodeon. I was also surprised at the use of various forms of martial arts the "bending" styles are based off of.

Honestly, Avatar is probably my favourite show at the moment. There's nary a character I hate (except the ones I'm supposed to), and the dialog is top-notch. And it's just the kind of humor I look for in a series, that is, witty sarcastic humor.

If I were to rate it on how often it got me fangasming, I'd give it a 10. It has its share of faults as well, but I still gave it a nine. The fights are amazing (especially since they use actual martial arts to base off of, unlike anime where most fights are 'OMG POWAR LEVAL!') as well, and it has a lot of excellent character development as well.

And man, those trailers can really get you going. The new NYCC trailers have got me acting giddy as all hell.

PS: If I were to grade Avatar based on its shipping fanbase (argh, Zutara...), I'd give it a 5. Not the most annoying fangirls I've come across, but still fairly annoying.

I only saw the very last two episodes (by accident of course), which kind of ruined the show for me. BUT if I were to rate the last episodes, I'd give them a nine. They were seriously both very good, even though at first I was like "wtf is going on". That last fight was great to watch.

For me, i really dislike Avatar, and i have watched a few shows here and there. The characters annoy me and are awfully pre-pubescent and whiny. The art is good though, especially for nickleodeon.

It just works for Americans, compared to real anime, this isn't all that good, but I give it a number based on other (US) domestic cartoons.
I still don't consider it an anime, but if this would have been made in Japan and had Japanese voice actors, this would surely be a much more popular anime.

Kitsu pretty much states what's on my mind right now. Avatar has horrible characters, exactly the ones that would fit that of a children's show. The artwork is very decent, then again, the story lacks a lot of details, so in overall, the negative points are in the majority.

I'd give it between a 7 and 9 just because I've been watching on and off. I saw the first 20something episodes... but after that, I would watch the series on and off. I like what I see, but I'm bad at tv schedules, so I never know when it's on. I only watch it when I feel like watching tv and it happens to be on.

Anyway I enjoy the art, the music, and it's also an anime that grows on you. At first I didn't enjoy it, but I soon began to like it. It's interesting how so much inspiration was taken from martial arts, and it's something that people should give a chance.

I came into this thinking I would HATE this attempt at an American anime, from seeing all the lame action figures and products with lame pictures of lame Aang on them. But then by chance while I was over at a friend's house I caught a glimpse of an actual episode, and I must say, I was quite impressed. It's actually better drawn than some anime.
By the far the best franchise on Nintendo right now.

American animation would be better if it had more cartoons like this.
Also, I can't give it a good score unless I know what I'm judging it by.
If by Japanese animation, not as favorably. If by American animation, quite favorably.

Also, the blind girl is cute.

I'll give it an 8.
I liked the animation and the music (It's kinda cool how they edited a Tuba to make a brand new sound). Story-wise, it was great the first two seasons. Season three was good I guess but I'm not a big fan of the ending. I pictured it... Differently.
Characters were typical; but not too bland. I think the show is at it's best when it references things; like when they did the DBZ reference and when they use 4 distinct martial arts for each element.

Personally, I would like to see more animated American shows like this. :)

Avatar, the Last Airbender = Epic Raw Action

It can almost be compared to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann in my opinion. But TTGL has a deeper story, while Avatar is more inclined to it's action/adventure and drama mix-ups.
