Voice actor Takaya Hashi, best known for his roles in Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) and Naruto, died on August 27 from a myocardial infarction. He was 72.

The news was announced by his agency, Apte Pro, through its official website. Hashi also served as the company's President and CEO.

Born in Tokyo in January 1952, Hashi graduated from Musashi Institute of Technology High School and Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music, where he majored in theatre. He began his career with the Seinenza Theater Company in April 1974 before transitioning into voice acting.

Over the course of his career, Hashi voiced many memorable characters including Toki from Hokuto no Ken, Kakuzu from Naruto, Donovan Desmond from Spy x Family, Froi Tiedoll from D.Gray-man, and Ted Bower from Cowboy Bebop. He was also widely recognized as the Japanese voice of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series, a role that cemented his reputation among both anime and movie fans.

Rest in peace. We lost another legend. His performance as Toki was remarkable.

Personally, I remember him for voicing James Black from Conan, Kakuzu from Naruto and Inuarashi from One Piece. RIP. He was a good voice actor.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

I remembered him through his roles as James Moriarty from Fate/Grand Order, Kakuzu from Naruto, and Froi Tiedoll from D.Gray-man. Rest in peace legend.

RIP legend. For me, he had one of the most iconic voices in the industry.

It's weird to think that James Black is going to have the same route as Mr. Satan since Takaya Hashi wasn't even James' original VA (His first VA was Iemasa Kayumi who was famously known as Paragus' from DBZ).

Already knew about his passing (MAL has been slow on this), but it makes me so sad, especially because it was so sudden, he was still active in the industry, and is a true pity lose a great talent like him like that. Old man voices aren't the most popular, but they're as necessary as any young voice.

@Hakuren366 Glad I'm not the only one who remembers his role as General Tiedoll. Really liked his gentle, grandfatherly voice there.

One of those voices that you immediately recognized as soon as you heard it. RIP
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Take me back to the days before MAL became infested with Twitter's favorite buzzwords.
