Lots of unexplained elements left even after the final episode, like GQuuuuuuX's eyes going purple when Machu was raging, what is a "Diablo", what exactly does Comoli Harcourt do on that ship, what has Shuji got to do with the RX-78-2 on the other side, why did the RX-78-2 come over to the GQX side, why did Shuji even get to know of this GQX side, etc.

Also after 12 episodes, I still find myself not caring a single bit for any of the main 3 characters. I cared more about Machu's poor mum and dad who probably lost their careers and are facing the consequences of the social stigma from having a daughter who was announced to be part of a terrorist attack...

This anime is basically running mostly based on anticipation build up during the previous episode and the next week preview, as they say, "ライブ感". The discussion and theorizing inbetween the episodes are part of that. If after this point, someone watches with all 12 episodes already available and can watch them back-to-back, they will probably have a very different experience, and likely not for the better.

Really wanted an anime with a concept similar to Gihren's Greed, an actual Alt UC to refresh the UC era, got some sort of Eva/RahXephon knock off instead. Disappointed...

Most "it's ok" Gundam anime out there. It had potential but it also needed at least one more cour to really shine. It ended up depending on fan service to keep me hooked since the main cast wasn't developed at all.

Animation, character and mecha designs, and OST was ver good.

A lot of happened in this episode and the best part were the psychedelic visuals.
A lot of references too. Char killing Kycilia, the red Gundam doing the "RX-78-2 is being destroyed" pose ect ect.

Also:
- Yey for Artesia-sama being at the top of Zeon! This is even better than Mineva Zabi.
- Xavier kind of accepted that working along with Challia Bull is the lesser evil now.
- Was Machu at the beach kind of a reference to Artesia sunbathing in 0079?

This felt targeted to the very specific demographic of people who are fans of both Gundam and Kazuya Tsurumaki. All spectacle no substance series but it kept me entertained the whole time, so I can't be hard on it.

I don’t know what the heck was going on half the time there, but it sure was a fun ride and that has to be one of the best mech battles yet.

I enjoyed it, the GQuuuuux became an Eva and the white devil was an angel, Casval lives this time and I guess he killed Garma in this timeline as well, that’s the reason we never see him. And Lady Kycilia🙄hello is Johnny Riden not available, he has blond hair and Artesia becomes the leader of Zeon. 😀 Ramba Ral appears 🔵Armuro is still in his room I guess and everyone else got high off the Kira Kira. Just wish it was longer than 12 episodes.

I almost turned off the episode when the ship crew started going on with "dear god, so this is a battle between newtypes?" as if I was watching a battle shounen anime, then the attempted commentary on human frailty with the insertion of the standard bit about no one can stop fighting in the end despite being newtypes.

It's simultaneously constrained by general and gundam tropes while having no writer capable of utilizing these familiar elements in a novel or compelling way. It also somehow thinks passing knowledge of UC Gundam was enough to make up for the lack of thematic building on its own front. The large amount of exposition in service of spouting banalities was unexpected, too. I think GQuuux is bad but I don't dislike it. I'm left with a feeling as hollow as the narrative and characters now that it's over.

I love me some Sayla, though. I couldn't help think her new role makes no sense, but fuck it.

BAAAAANG THEY STUCK THE ENDING. Greatest modern Gundam. A love letter to OG fans. I still wanted more episodes, but the hype moments were just too much for me to deny this greatness. This was perfect. I was really nervous how they’d wrap everything up in such a short period of time, but the mad lads went above and beyond. Now do more in this timeline/multiversal era plesse.

There’s a lot to unpack here, but I’ll start with the Shuji stuff. I’m still a little confused on who or what exactly he’s supposed to be. We all thought Amuro would be the one piloting the RX 78-2. Is Shuji’s Amuro’s spirit or what? Either way, the fact he’s basically been chasing Lalah from timeline to timeline erasing these worlds she’s made is crazy. He’s basically the Gundam version of the TVA. Poor thing never stopped and asked himself if there were another way.

Lmaooo at Char packing up Kycilia very similar to how he did in the original timeline “from this point forward, you can keep Gihren company” 😭 it’s even crazier when you remember she was just praising he and Sayla as ideal kids that made her want to become a mother. Somethings never change I guess.

Some of the best 3DCGI animation you’ll ever see in this episode. Char vs Chalia, the GFreD and Gquuuuuux vs Gramps, it was incredible. Studio Khara brought their A game to this and you’d expect nothing less really. I loved the animation in the EVA rebuilds, think it fits Gundam very well. That Machu and Nyaan tag team fight felt like past meets present which is fitting because that’s basically what Gquuuuuux as a series is. I fucking lost it when we got a giant force ghost gramps tho 😂

“I’m not alone because the gquuuuuux was always by my side” OH SHIT THEY WENT FULL EVANGELION!! EVEN DOWN TO THE SUIT ROAR. The OST even feels like an EOE remix lmao. The last 8 minutes is where I started jumping up and down because BITCH DID SHUJI JUST CONFESS TO MACHU AND A KISS?!!! WHAT!!

So the power of love saves the day after all, that Kira-Kira explosion at the end was absolutely beautiful. Really this was the best possible ending, I wanted more Kycilia, but you could never rest peacefully knowing she was in charge of Zeon. Sayla being the leader in this timeline is like Minerva in Unicorn era, she’ll lead with kindness. CHAR AND LALAH REUNION!!! This means everything to me, they finally get to be happy together. And Nyaan and Machu finally reach earth. Nyaan has a place where she belongs now. WE EVEN GOT MF ANQQI BACK IN THE SHOW HELLO?!!

Gquuuuuux isn’t without its flaws, but idc man I loved this shit. The nostalgia bait was too strong for me to resist and I love evangelion so this was basically two of my fave franchises mashed together and it just worked. I just want them to do more with this and start giving us more mainline UC stuff past unicorn as well. Gundam is too damn good not to milk better than sunrise are doing!!

Greatest modern gundam not even by a chance. If you take out the arguably too many references to the original show, it’s completely hollow. Machu and Nyan are awful characters, and the “og cast” have all so little presence due to them wanting to squece them all in 12 episodes that the series ends up having 0 impact.

It’s bad, GWitch was miles better.

Absolutely abysmal, to an astounding degree.

Decent animation budget, and the music was fine I guess. I can maybe give credit for Challia Bull in this anime, but every other single element does not work with the time and pacing allotted.

I’m begging y’all to increase your standards for what constitutes good writing, pacing, and characters. I’m on my hands and knees here

i won't lie, all that for that...

i was not expecting much at the beginning then i started enjoying it , but no, even if we had some great scenes, the story should have been better than a multiverse etc

the war just stopped like that, no that can't be acceptable

the other girl killed a lot of people even if she wasn't really aware of what she was doing

i'm a big Gundam fan, i watched it all (at least 90%) and no, we lost the adn of gundam here

i will be generous and give it 7/10 because of course it was more than ok, but i'm disappointed...

Speaking like the parody of a manchild that you’re just proves my point. “YAY ENJOYMENT REFERENCE REFERENCE ENJOYMENT I SEE I REMEMBER” this show was nothing but this.
It had nice animation, nice visuals and an interesting concept that got fucked left and right in order for them to include every single character of UC, just to kill them after two minutes of screen time, making their whole presence as noticeable as the wind on a summer night.
It has nothing to go for it other than nostalgia, it’s a directionless story, with hollow characters, it wouldn’t stand on his own without the constant referencing and name calling.

And yeah, GWitch is a good show, with characters that are more than pretty designs, and an actual original story that stands on itself :)

Prefacing this: I am a Gundam noob so please disregard my opinions if you're a long time fan of the series.

I feel like this show was just way too ambitious. It had so many brilliant people working on it, and it had so many cool ideas, but the execution of those ideas was pretty sloppy. All of the emotional weight ended up in the second half of the season, but like, they really didn't give us enough characterization to actually care about these new characters or get what their deal is.

The first half of the season was very vibe-heavy, the second half was all "okay, we're doing the plot now," but there were so many twists and turns, it was kind of confusing and just didn't hit hard enough.

To be honest, I liked this as a finale, but the character moments just didn't hit because they felt so unearned. The twist with Shuji was pretty cool, but they just never made me care about Shuji. I could comprehend why the girls would care about Shuji. He represents freedom to them, and they don't really see him as a real person like they think they do, and in my opinion, the finale really checks out with that read. Machu kissing Shuji is less of a character moment for them as a pair, and more so, Machu embracing the freedom to be who she is as a Newtype.

But the thing about Machu is, they never really explored (at least not in a big way) why she wants that freedom so bad. Nyann has an obvious reason, she's a refugee who has been forced into bad situation after bad situation without any sort of control, but Machu is just like,, a middle-class girl who thought her life was boring? Unless I'm missing something?? If I am missing something, please, I do want to talk about this because I genuinely want to know what I missed or if others agree that they never fleshed that out enough. Like, I just felt really bad for Machu's mom at the end.

Anyway, I feel like I would have gotten a lot more out of this if I were more of a Gundam fan, and I'd like to re-watch it after watching more of the original series. But I feel like I need to re-watch it, regardless, just to try to understand what they were cooking. It just felt so rushed.

I have no idea how I'm going to rate this because it just left me going "huh." And not in like a "oh wow this is really trying to say something" kind of way, just in an information overload kind of way, and a "were they trying to say something?" kind of way, I guess. Because they put a frog on the table for me to dissect, and it seems to be missing some of its crucial organs.

Good fights, nice to see og gundam, Nyaan is alive and well. The fight with Machu and Nyaan as mavs was fking awesome! And Chalia and Char were so cool also. I'd say that is a positive.

Even tho I think it could've been better. I wish we could have more Nyaan, really I love her. Also that the romance, if you could call it that, was more developed...like, when was the last time they had a meaningful interaction? episode 3/4? Idk, it just felt kinda empty. Also, having her waiting to meet him is, how could I say, it feels weird lol

but all in all, was a fun show, not the best, but far from being the worst

Can't say this anime wasn't entertaining but it felt like only cheap thrills amongst nostalgia and shallow original characters. Could summarize it as a rushed run of Gihren's Greed with poorly written characters and severe pacing issues.

i dont love that it ended with this whole multi-dimensional universe hopping reveal. like when a loved one dies you just grieve. Recreating a whole new universe is crazy how is that a plot point here?? Can people just do that in Gundam?

Putting all that aside, which is a little hard to do since thats most of what the finale is about, the show ended about how it started with so much jargon and not making much sense but the animation was cool and I like the characters and Machu totally has the hots for shuuji and wants to find him. I can agree that the ending was really abrupt but I dont see how more episodes would really make that much of a difference since that would be more confusing stuff and more things that arent explained and this did that and it really kind of wrapped things up here. Like as a finale the ending really ended it in a tight way where they could keep going or they could leave it but thats it.

Also also I can see how people might prefer if the show chose whether to focus on just char aznable or just on Machu. Still its a very 7 show to me.

Really needed at least two seasons for everything to hit home I feel, it was a visual treat don't get me wrong and I had fun watching but when we're jumping from character to character so they can exposit and flashback in the final episode to explain their motivations and you've got other characters just making sudden random face or heel turns (Nyaan, Challia) and the Gundam goes giant for no reason? I mean it's cool but why? It felt like things were just happening because the writers thought it would be cool, with little thought put into how much it made sense in the context of the series.

Speaking from a character perspective, I liked Machu, Nyaan and even Shuji but their bond was so incredibly weak. I initially thought that was supposed to be the point, that they teamed up without ever really bothering to get to know each other but then it turns out that Machu and Shuji are actually soulmates and it wasn't just Machu's one-sided attraction that she superimposed onto Shuji. As for Nyaan she's spent how many episodes screaming for Shuji, just an episode of two ago she destroyed an entire fleet for him and planned to genocide people on Earth as well but she gives up immediately because Machu asks her nicely? It reinforces my opinion that the series would have been better if Nyaan had fallen for Machu instead. There's so much more weight behind their interactions because we actually saw them interact on screen and Nyaan's decision to help Machu wouldn't feel so forced. Xavier, Comoli and Challia were alright. Challia was the most interesting but his sudden betrayal of Char was jarring, Comoli was just sort of there for some reason, Xavier had some nice moments but why did he suddenly switch sides after Kycilia was killed?

We finally got to see the Pomeranians again, they're just floating about now, junk dealing it seems. They were basically pointless in the grand scheme of things but at least the show remembered they exist. Speaking of existing, Machu's mother shows up. She doesn't really do much but it's nice that Machu finally called home (Even if she's entirely uncaring at the fact that she threw away everything on a whim)

Overall, the show was alright but it was carried hard by its visuals and sound design. It really failed in the character and plot department. I do find it funny though, I recall seeing a few weeks ago, someone talking about GQuaks saying that people didn't get its narrative because they're used to stories that spoonfeed them information through flashbacks. I thought it was a bit of a silly comment because GQuaks up to that point had been pretty reliant on telling its stories through flashbacks but it was funny to get to this episode to have it double down on the flashbacks and also throw in a bunch of void exposition as well. Ultimately the story was just messy. It would have worked on a longer show, it didn't work for something of this length.

As somebody who doesn't follow Gundam much, I enjoyed this and it's making me want to go back and watch some old Gundam that I missed out on. So, job well done I suppose. I do feel it was a bit rushed, but I think that's a big issue for modern anime in general. Not really fair to dump it on this specific show. My biggest criticism is probably them mixing too many styles together. They shouldn't have used those old scenes in their original style just mixed in like this. Either remake them in a modern style, or make the whole show in the old style.

I still think this is a decent onboarding point for new viewers. I have never seen the original, but I understood what was going on.

Well, that was absolutely dogshit. I had my doubts from episode 1, but hey at least I knew it was gonna be trash 12 weeks ago.

That one guy who thinks this show is "good" is probably on suicide watch. The score started at 7.64 and has been in a downward spiral ever since, now sitting at 7.23 (still ongoing).

I gave this show a 5/10 around the midpoint, but now that it's over, it's a 4/10. The last episode was actually pretty decent with its OST and direction, but that and the beach scene couldn’t save a 5/10 show. I haven’t seen a plot this thin and full of coincidences in a long, long time. Even most isekai don’t sink this low. It’s so bad it could honestly compete with Kingdom of Ruin.

Enokido needs to put down the pen. Star Driver, Captain Earth and now this. Machu might be the most inconsequential character I've seen in recent memory. A passenger in her own story.

The greater cast of characters in general were all so ass. Depth of a kitty pool. Darling in the Franxx had better character writing than this shit.

A terrible ending. What a dreadful idea to make a whole show covered in fanservice-y tributes to the original Gundam only to have it end with your own mecha (the Eva Unit 01) beating the shit out of the classic Gundam.

Eyyyyy a kinda sorta happy end for all the main characters! This world's Char and Lalah get to finally meet. Bull's life is spared by Xavier. Bull, Xavier andb Comoli are working together on the same side again now. Machu and Nyaan finally make it to the Ocean on Earth. Machu also finally let's her parents know that she's alive lol Shu and his world's Lalah both survive and go back to their world. And not to mention, Machu and Shuji kiss!!! 😊 (not sure when Shuji devolped feelings for Machu tho, but I'm just happy for my girl, so who cares!) Oh and on that note, Nyaan was also way to quick to agree / was way too happy about partnering up with Machu to fight Shuji 😅 But then again Nyaan had been through enough confusion and trauma for one day, she was probably just happy to be able to reconcile with Machu again. And finally, it's nice that Machu is optimistic about seeing Shuji again one day. Love how she copies his mannerism now that she can hear what her Gundam says too. All in all, a solid ending I cannot complain about.

Not to mention, the fights in this final episode were insane!!!! Loved every single one of it, the animation team did amazing work!!!

I only have on question tho. Why were Char and Bull fighting? I was kinda hoping/expecting them to be more happy about finally seeing each other again after all this time, concidering how long Bull was searching for him 😅 Also gotta love their priorities. World is about to end and instead of helping out, Bull rather fight about politics and leave saving the wolrd to the children!? 😂 Bro wtf

Oh well, still enjoyed this anime a lot! Especially the later episodes where Machu felt less useless and actually did some insane stuff! Guess the criminal life is the one for her lol (altho, I feel like she should get pardoned, since you know... she saved the universe and all).

Gotta admit tho, 90% of the time I had no idea what was going on B plot wise with Kycilia, Char, Bull, etc. Thankfully it didn't take away much from the A plot with Machu & friends. Whenever something was happening that I didn't understand in the B plot, I was just like "imma assume it gets explained in Gundam 79 lol" and moved on 😂

There is one question that does bother me tho, who tf is Artesia? Is that Char's little sister from Kycilia's flashback?

Anyway, once again loved this anime! Probably an 8 or 9 out of 10 for me (still debating on what final score to give it 🤔).

Oh and one last thing, who's voice was and hands were that coming from GQuuuuuuX? Was it just a random personification of the Gundam or a reference another character?

I like how the *scale* of that final battle drastically increased XD. I felt like this was a pretty good finale. Yeah one more episode maybe could've fleshed out this and that, but honestly I felt like this condensed conclusion was good. I actually really liked this anime in general so I'm quite biased.

Chills when I heard Furuya's voice in GQX. I may never recover from this episode.

She is! I thought you watched other Gundams, deg-chan!

I didn't even know this was a thing. Do weirdos just ship two women who stand close enough to each other immediately?

Another hero? Oh, please!
You're a god-damn philistine.

G-witch brought in these people. Gundam has always been about yaoi ships until that show smh.

What a final episode! I loved it. Epic battles and fitting closure for all the characters involved.

Despite the very tight run time. I really enjoyed this "Happy Ending Char" version of gundam UC.

The parrallel events playing out same and differently was such good call backs. And when we reached the end of the episode seeing Char Reunited with Lalah in a less violent manner.

I felt years of weight drop. My heart tingled. Genuinely this was the best version and best ending for the character named Char. T^T

To me Machu and Nyaan were bad characters. They were always meant to serve as secondary plot devices. The main character is Char not by screen time but by narrative. I'd just treat it as such.

Didn’t ask and it wasn’t open to opinions! Thanks tho. I said what I said!!

Edit: G witch hype gimmick in 2025 lmaoooooo

I was skeptical when this series was first announced and I really didn’t think it would be all that great… But I was gladly proven wrong! I enjoyed this series a heck of a lot a more than I thought that I would.

But seriously, can we talk about the fact that, at the end, the Pomeranians got a friggin’ Zock!? I squeeed so hard when I saw that. XD

Lol, what a useless ending, I owe Gwitch an apology. This show absolutely sucked. Up there with the worst mechas, not even just gundam.
Fanservice be damned. Like really, what was even resolved?
