I didn't like this season at all, atmosphere too cold, last season was more warm, new wasted characters "Tokiko and Urino" why introduce them and cast away so fast, and Kengo barely appeared in this season, Osanai and Kobato has a very weird relationship, why they are not already together. 5/10 for this season, last season I gave 7/10

Cold season.

Great episode, probably the best of the season. A lot of the mysteries were answered, and Kobato was able to make amends with Hisaka. The sister better be going to jail, although I do somewhat sympathize with her. Probably easier to blame someone else than her own parents. Definitely doesn't excuse anything she did though.

Overall, a 5.5-6/10 season. The first half with the arsonist case dragged down the entire season for me, mainly because I found the arsonist case itself really boring - with Urino as a temporary main character - and the lack of interactions between the main duo. This second case was a lot more engaging, especially because it connected to how Kobato and Osanai first met, and it revealed the mystery that was hinted in the first season as to why Kobato wanted to be ordinary. Still had some problems with this case, mainly about how weird the nurse's reasoning was for acting the way she did after the attempted car murder (and the hammer? really?), but overall entertaining.

I would seriously love a post-high school/college arc (we don't have nearly enough of those in anime!!!!), but next to zero percent chance of that happening....

Yup, s2 was way better than s1. Amazing in every way possible. GOATSANAI made me smile non-stop. Loved it back to back. 9.5/10. Will miss this masterpiece.

Unique series, probably not for everyones taste but for those who love that cerebral, minimalist, scandi- noir type slow burn there's nothing else like this out there to my knowledge.
Osanai was a towering presence and I'll miss her a lot.
Would love another season to cover the skipped material.
9/10.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this yet, but man I loved how Kobato mentioned he wanted to eat the strawberry tarts at Alice, Parfait at Cecilia and Kurikintons at Sakua'an again. Each of those were limited to a specific season, Spring, Summer and Autumn respectively, so he was just saying that he wanted to spend another year with her, to which she answers with preparing a maze in Kyoto and says she'll search for new shops as well, felt so much like those 2 till the very end. Overall loved it, absolutely.

Shoushimin is a solid 9.9/10 and as close to a 10 as it can get for me

@LeanRivs I get what you're saying, but I just didn’t like it at all. I prefer a little bit of warm atmosphere, something like last season, if it makes sense.

I understand that you're saying that Tokiko and Urino don't have much importance, by they were poorly used, yes. They didn't even showed Urino's friend getting arrested and I want to see Urino's reaction to that, knowing that his best friend was making fun of him behind his back.

And this whole “mutual relationship” thing is just too weird. If it's normal for you, ok, we clearly see things differently.

I have so many things in this season to point fingers, but the text would get too long, so that’s it.

She wasn't going to stay 5 more minutes for New Years? Or did she drug him to sleep? Heh don't piss her off I guess is still the lesson from this season, you'll end up having to change your entire college plans. So the police never showed up right? They let her go? Chick had mental problems, she needs help if she is still blaming Kobato for her parents divorce. Anyway another great season with great character interactions, such a different show than everything else out there I thoroughly enjoyed it.

What a brilliant conclusion to a brilliant season! This one was even better than the first IMO.

I thought the chase was very tense and well-directed, the animation was fluid (like when we follow behind Osanai as she wheels Kobato). My one gripe would be the choice to escape to the roof, but even then, I understand, because if they'd gone down, it would've been much easier for Hisaka to catch up with them by running down the stairs, so I'm not too mad.

The reveal was very well-written. I felt so bad for Hisaka when we learned everything about the broken family home. Also, this whole arc, I felt like it wasn't a girlfriend thing, so I'm glad to be vindicated! The brother's appearance was great! I thought he was dead, so I didn't expect it. The whole name change is such a good trick to make us think that. One thing I'll say is that running someone over just because your parents didn't get back together and you couldn't live with your brother is a little extreme. It made more sense when I thought the boy had killed himself and was responsible because he didn't wanna play badminton or whatever. The fact that an employee had simply switched the footage is kind of a cop out IMO. I feel like they tricked the viewer because we couldn't have known since we weren't even aware of the employee's existence, so that felt cheap.

The conclusion was really cool! I hope we get to see these two in Kyoto in a third season, that would be awesome!

We actually did get an untranslated news article which said the perp parked the car in a garage, and when the girl from the store runs in after calling them an idiot, I think that was enough of a hint for us to solve it, we just needed the article to be translated tho...

@renzospark I'm pretty sure she's referring to the previous conversation they had after the last arc, where Osanai says she will likely in the future find someone better than Kobato, but until then he is her "next best option". It seems to become something of a term of endearment for her in this episode as opposed to the cynical "realist" look at the future for her, as she is clearly moved by Kobato again this episode you can see her tearing up a bit while Kobato is coming to resolution with Hisaka Shoutarou. She also wants him to go to college in Kyoto where she is going to be applying and will be setting up a "maze" for him to get through since he's going to be delayed with his entrance to college due to the injury and hospitalization.

Really enjoyed this season of Shoushimin. It was the series I enjoyed the most this season and had me rewatching episodes just to understand what was going on. I get this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but the development of Osanai was really enjoyable to watch. 9/10.

So this nurse was willing to not only destroy her career but possibly go to jail (or prison) for attempted murder simply because she wrongly blamed Kobato for splitting up her family?! Talk about crazy, damn. Speaking of crazy, Osanai is a "horrible schemer," I mean she even admitted to thinking to what Kobato said but she was still offended 🙄

Anyways, while the finale was pretty good I felt that the arsonist case dragged on a bit too much. Also, I'm not a big fan of Osanai and while she did save Kobato I have a distrust for her. Regarding the ending scene between Osanai and Kobato, I thought it was ok but I have no idea if this series will continue on, and for what it's worth I thought this season was better than S1.

In terms of mystery, I'm not sure which season was the best, but overall I think the first one was better because it didn’t have any bad characters like this season did. seriously, there were two: that useless Urino and Kobato’s trashy girlfriend lol. They added nothing to the season and it made no sense to put those two losers on the cover.

Anyway, the arson case was just okay and way too predictable by the halfway point it wasn't obvious Osanai was the culprit. Now the last case? That one was exceptional, mixing past and present with interesting dialogue and riddles. Great ending, and Osanai already threw another mystery at Kobato lol. That girl is insane. This one definitely deserves a season 3. Solid 8/10.

AHHHHHHH What a great conclusion to this case!!! Honestly, if it wasn't for the arson case that seemed to drag on forever, this season would have been a 11/10 for me!! The hit and run case carried so unbelievably hard, you don't understand 😭

Love that Osanai got her sweet sweet revenge in the end and even is out to get Kobato now 😂 Really doesn't take much to get on her bad side lol

They really had us on edge until the very last second on whether Hisaka was still alive or not. Super happy that he was. Wouldn't wanna know what that would've done to Kobato's mental state otherwise 😳

Cannot believe that Osanai and Kobato's time in high school is coming to an end already tho. But to be fair the last two cases did span over several months, so it's no surprise.
I really need a 3rd season with the two of them continuing their shenanigans in university. Sadly, I have no idea wheter the source material even goes that far ☹️

Then again, with how dangerous this case ended up being (the two of them almost got themselves killed after all), maybe that finally served as a wake up call for them to actually become ordinary 😅

@MenchiK1 Nah I'm pretty sure the police arrested Eiko. After her brother showed up and all, you could hear sirens approaching in the distance while they were still on the rooftop. I've gotta assume Osanai actually did call the police earlier. We only didn't get to see the arrest happen on screen.

Let me guess, the author made Kobato and Osanai significantly more sympathetic in this arc because people were criticizing the last arc as being pretty sociopathic and cruel? But either way, I'm surprised by all the drama. Hasaka and his sister shared the same parents, but they played it off as if they were star-crossed lovers, which their parents tried to separate.

Also, it was funny how the nurse seemed like a minor character voiced by a newbie VA for these entire episodes, while in the finale she actually turned out to be a significant and well-written character.

Things escalated quite quickly. I'm pretty sure bringing the nurses brother to the scene was plan of Osanai's revenge. There can be no other reason to run to the roof instead of ground floor, where the bro is planted. Sure the nurse is arrested and possibly she lost the only family she has (or cares), but I was expecting an inhumanely devious revenge after this. Because compared to what she did to a past bully and a cocky boy this is nothing. The nurse's brother would have found out either way. Maybe this really wasn't her revenge even though Kobato though it was. I guess I'm not so sure after all.

Also wtf did she mean by "my next best option"!? And dropping this after Kobato succumbed to Osanai's sweet tooth and wished to go to all these cafes.

The season started out a little weak, but the last few episodes - especially the ones involving the arsonist - turned the tables on him. Urino was getting on my nerves with how arrogant he could be, but I have to admit he added a much-needed contrast to the mystery angle. And those hit and run cases were ominous in interesting, especially in this final episode.

I'm not sure if it was better than the first season, but there's no doubt that this anime is a hidden gem. I love how intriguing, mysterious, intellectual and, above all, interactive it is. Kobato and Osanai are absolutely the best couple, as they said themselves, no one else could be next to each other like they are. They may not have said it out loud, but it's something they both demonstrate so clearly. Not to mention the soundtrack and animation have been excellent.

As for the episode itself, I loved Hisaka showing up to stop her sister. The tension in that whole chase was incredibleb and the apology between Hisaka and Kobato, was also a great moment. And the cryptic way of saying goodbye to Osanai? Is really hard to interpret, but in these last few episodes we've seen glimpses of a warmer side to her. She's still terrifying, but even the devil has feelings. What a phenomenal anime.

@RobertBobert Yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Honestly, this was just a pretty trash ending as far as I'm concerned. It was actually really interesting that the author seemed to be going in a direction of 'hey Osanai's a psycho and this isn't a good thing'. But, no, had to jump back and give us a dumb villain to make her look good in comparison I guess.

easily the best series of the season for me, and really is in a league of its own, I haven't seen anything else quite like it
I liked S1 a bit more, the arsonist case dragged out a bit (although its conclusion episode was very good)
this last arc was so well made, I was pretty sad reading that it would be a prequel, since that would mean the story would "end" at ep7, but they connected past and present, really well done

I like the open ending instead of *boy and girls swearing eternal love*, as it rarely turns out that way in reality

I'm glad I binged this arc after putting this on pause at Episode 7. Great atmosphere and direction, and a good mystery. Not too sure about a hammer chase in the darkened hospital, but they managed to keep it mostly sane.

"I'm glad you're alive"
Aww, that's so sweet of her!

"I'm glad you're alive, you're my next best option"
Uhhh, better run for the hills...

Overall, great season. Enjoyed this way more than Season 1, partly because I now knew what to expect, and also because the cases had more time.

Still don't like Osanai. Her creepy smile and calm voice, it honestly infuriates :D "Just me maybe"

Anyways, I'm glad THAT was her revenge. I expected she'd do something more horrible to Eiko; albeit it's still entirely possible Eiko may do something to herself now that she's exposed and certainly jailed for 3x attempted murder!!! Kobato can be creepy too, but he resembles normal human being more and isn't radical.

As I was saying earlier though, "playing detective" may one day result in more bad than good; at least Kobato realized this; I mean, you had multiple people hinting "STOP DIGGING" yet you selfishly continue to do it for personal satisfaction and that ends up ruining peoples lives; congrats!

AS for Osanai, she may one day end up going against real psychos who won't stand around monologuing like cliche villains before police arrives.

Still very enjoyable last episodes. Sadly can't like it more due to IMO insufferable Osanai.

Decent finale. Not sure if there’s going to be a third season or not, but if there is, I’d like to see how Jougorou’s holding up by then. Because even though this season’s case has been closed, we still don’t know what either Yuki or Jougorou will be doing moving forward.

The "my next best option" line i think refers to when the two of them reconciled back in episode 7, in which Osanai said (paraphrased because i don't exactly remember) "I might meet someone far better and handsome in the future, but as long as i'm here and as long as you're with me, you're my next best option." or something like that?
