| After watching a lot of anime during 2018-2019, when I was part of a podcast about it, but I was still watching a lot of it during 2020. During mid-2021 I started playing FFXIV until late 2022, and during this time my amount of anime consumption went down massively. And even so, I really only went back to watching anime consistently in the second half of 2024. I notice this a lot on AMQ, on how anime released between 2021 and 2024 screws me over a lot, and today I heard a guy saying that he watched anime during the Trump-era, stopped during the Biden-era and now came back, so I started thinking "Wait, isn't this almost my case?". With all that in mind, what were the most relevant anime of that time period? |

| 2021: Watched a shit ton of isekai and watched One Piece. 2022: Watched Bleach, Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu and some other relatively long classic anime shows. 2023: Was very mentally retarded this year, watched some more One Piece and mostly seasonal stuff. 2024: The year I padded my list with the most random shit, went from 150 to 300 completed entries in a single year. Truly the year I finally became a cultured anime fan because of watching all sorts of anime. 2025: Might become another dud year, still trying to watch new entries at least every month though. |

| 2016-2022 was a terrible era of anime, and that's around the time everything started getting politicized. 2023 was an excellent year for anime, and 2024 was decent too. 2025, however, is not turning out so good. 2023 is probably around when anime solely produced in Biden's presidency started getting aired. We will probably start up again with Trump-era anime around a year or two from now. Overall, I think there is no difference depending on who's the U.S. president in quality of anime. |

It's common to refer to certain eras from whoever was president at the time, even if it's totally unrelated.
They "screw me up a lot" since, because I had very few contact with them and watched even less, I can't recognize their OP's and ED's, even the easier ones.
For instance, in a room where EVERYONE would get it's Tengoku Daimakyou in a second, I wouldn't, meaning I just "lost a freebie".
Granted, nowadays I can at least get Yofukashi no Uta because I memorized it as "The anime with the 'FALL IN LOVE' and the 'WOO WOO WOO' OP's".

| I mostly haven't liked the 2020s in anime... 2019 was possibly the best year in anime for me; I cannot believe how many things I love came out that year; and 2017 and 18 were solid too (for me at least) 2020 was a black hole, since then the trends turned definitely away from ecchi (with Maho ni na akoraga... aw fuggit- Gushing Over Fucking Magical Girls the obvious exception) and went hard for OP isekai and what I would just call "isekai adjacent" power fantasy anime (like Solo Flattening) But I doubt the occupant of the Casa Blanco has much to do with the trends... Still for fun, if you want an Orange Man/Hillary reference- watch Cop Craft. I cannot recommend it enough |
