Ye, this case about fires in the city is anything but normal.

Kobato also realizes his instincts and the familar car from before. Tense episode for sure and so far, this case has been puzzling. Urino is trying to also solve this case as strange as this is. Osanai's relationship with him is an interesting one imo. Urino definitely wants to set the example of a role model and partner with her.

Osanai definitely the one setting them fires ain’t she with her cute evil ass ๐Ÿ˜ญ something wrong with this girl. I wonder if she really care about Urino or just using him because he’s really down for her and she hasn’t even let him see her crib yet, poor thing. That ending was very ominous. Could Urino’s friend Hiya be in on it too ๐Ÿค”

Kobato and his girl seem to be coming along much better, I do understand why she’d be jealous since pretty much all the things he recommends to her he knows because of his time with Osanai lol. No girl wants to follow in the ex’s footsteps like that. That “ๅฅฝใใ ใ‚ˆ” double entendre there was cute too, that must mean Kobato’s never actually told her that before?? She’s gonna have to be patient with him because this knucklehead is so dense lmao

If anyone's wondering, Nakamaru got embarrassed when Kobato said he liked the snacks because they way he said it could be interpreted as "I like/love you".
Really like how it's picking up now, I enjoyed the slice of life calm of the beginning of s1 but I gotta say I definitely enjoy this more.

@Marinate1016 For some reason I wouldn't be surprised if she actually set all this on fire to give him a reason for an article and thus "support him."

A glimpse into Osanai machinations and two new "actors" enter the complex webs of intrigues, Hiya roles as Urino closest friend or so it seem and Nakamura digging and prying Kobato previous relationship.

Great, more character I can't trust.
the story happened just last few months on the 15th?! interesting.

Well, we are back to the sweets. But honestly, could Kobato's home date be any more uneasy? Sua pattern! ddenly, I'm getting bad vibes from THIS girl just like Osani. Don't tell me this is a pattern. Well hopefully it's just they are just not at a right moment & she isn't what I am actually suspecting.

I suspect Urino's friend Hiya might be the one behind the arson. The mystery, along with whatever Urino plans to publish in the newspaper, really draws me in—but unfortunately, I’ll have to wait until next week.

Osanai, what kind of forbidden act were you even referring to by breaking the caramel top? ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Still, she shared some surprisingly deep thoughts during her time with Urino.

We finally got some screen time with Kobato and Nakamaru, but it really seems like their year-old relationship is falling apart. And that final scene—Osanai talking with Monchi from the newspaper club—makes it clear she's up to something.

Honestly, I started suspecting him from the way he smiled when he and Urino were talking about the pattern of the suspects' chosen locations in that café scene in ep 1. He also seemed suspicious during the whole sequence where he and Urino were talking during lunch in class in tonight's ep, and the animator chose not to show his expression most of the time. He is either the culprit or knows way more than he is letting on.

Okay, did NOT expect such a cliffhanger, but that's on me, since i should never expect any less from Yuki, the two-timing tart. Not just Takahiko, but Jouji as well? Seriously? What use do you even have of that fatty? He's just edgy and rebellious most of the time, don't say you're using his stupidity to burn stuff for you as to not dirty your hands. Can never imagine what really goes through that tart's mind, fun? crimes? monstrosity? conflagration? Don't know.

Is that what you meant by "the means eventually become the end"? God, how an actual monster you are. Yuki aside though, i'm glad we're finally getting Joe into the picture, getting him to realize that Yuki is on this stuff, while Takahiko thinking he's the only one who has Yuki for himself, providing him with all the secrets that're gonna make him go big, buddy you're a means to an end to that tart, and although i relate you, wanting to go big, i pity you bruv.

Love how he still ain't aware that Kengo is aware of it all via Joe, they're all onto you buddy, you and you're clubmate Jouji. And since our MC's are the trio of Joe, Yuki, & Kengo, i'm 99% expecting Takahiko & Jouji to take the fall of the conflagration, even if Yuki literally is the 1 who did it all herself. Again, that is all just hypothetical of me, trying to play detective, nevertheless, curious to know how this'll play out, therefore, real excited for the upcoming episode!

Say whatever you want, but I’ve seriously never seen something shown this way before, so simple, but also kind of smug. Like, using a layered dessert to secretly show how you can trick someone into hiding your crimes is straight up wild lmao.

Osanai’s brain is also scary-smart in a weird and magical way. She totally knows she’s got Urino, the newspaper club, and maybe the whole school in the palm of her hand. There’s so much going on, I don’t even think I can explain it all properly

If I'm Kobato Jougorou, I will choose and stay with Nakamaru Tokiko than Osanai Yuki.

I don't know, but I think Tokiko more kawaii, expressive, and not suspicious like Yuki. I easily melt with expressive girl too๐Ÿ˜‚

I still remember the way of Tokiko confess to Jougorou and her expression too๐Ÿ™ƒ

The Tokiko's VA is good too and suitable for Tokiko's character.

So yeah, our favourite psychopath has found her next victim to manipulate. That's fun.

On the positive note, Kobato seems to be doing fine-ish. He takes his new girlfriend to place he used to go to with his ex, likes to reminisce about his ex, talks about his ex... oh no. I feel a Stockholm syndrome incoming.

I already mentioned how suspicious Hiya seems last episode. If you pay attention the girl that passes by him and Urino as they're talking in the classroom is the same background girl from Ep 1. Idk if that leading anywhere or not?

On the list of the fires, their locations and what was burned a bicycle was in the 3rd fire. Pretty sure Osanai's stolen bike was trashed in S1 by the thief iirc, so it wasn't hers?

Feels like Osanai is planning to scapegoat Urino, he'll be remembered alright but not in the way he wants. Urino might be in for some monkey's paw be careful what you wish for type shit. He thinks he's going to solve this case and be remembered for that but instead Osanai is going to flip it and frame him for these fires.

Possibly, I'm just theory crafting and guessing, assuming shit cause this is fun to do while watching this show.

I'm not sure what to make of Kobato and the new girl yet, other then her reaction to Kobato thinking she seemed like a "good person."

I am a believer, I believe main couple can still make up, although getting harder to believe as at the start of the episode Kobato and Kengo sounded like crime detectives "who could Osanai be affiliated with?"

The Marron glacé metaphor was so good, reminded me that we are watching actual literature. Whatever the metaphor could have meant lol.
It's funny though, it is not just us, Urino was saying before that often times he doesn't really understand what Osanai is getting at, this time as well he was just sitting there like: umm what?
The "means become the end" could have meant that at first Osanai just started going out with Urino on a whim (or to fill some role in her plot), but now she's actually considering to give the relationship a chance? Anyway poor dude has his work cut out for him, they are really not on the same page.

Kobato and his girlfriend aren't on the same page either, like he was about to be brainstorming about the fire incidents, but she wasn't having any of that, still this couple is a lot less problematic. Funny though she was mentioning Osanai being "safe" and "dull", then we cut to Osanai again doing 4D chess: visiting a crime scene and calling Monchi from the club (who we didn't know she had anything to do with), so indeed she is scheming something.

I don't think it's a question of if Osanai is the arsonist, I'm quite sure she is, I think it's a question of what she's trying to accomplish with it. Is she trying to get Kobato's attention? I think there's a possibility she's actually trying to help Urino, was she being sincere when she told him not to do any more naughty stuff or pulling some reverse psychology? But then she would just stop setting the fires. I truly want to believe she's a little misguided but still able to tell right from wrong, I love sweets too and that endears me to her.

An episode jam-packed with goodies! ๐Ÿ˜บ
6:38 "Breaking through the caramel top always makes me think of a forbidden act." Oh. My. God! She's SO naughty!
14:50 the entire "marron glace" conversation. She completely anticipates & derails his effort to "be manly" by complimenting him?
16:31 "no more naughtiness." Or maybe it wasn't a compliment :o She's totally 3 steps ahead of the poor lad.
18:01 Nakamura's smile! She's a really good girl.
20:11 In no way is our cute little monster, Osanai, "dull". And yes, she is a monster (see: season 1).
20:54 Kobato was feeling so proud! Thinking he'd evaded the question. Then came "What do you mean by a "good person"" with that expression! He really stepped on it, didn't he.
21:15 I think she just figured it all out. Now we see how the fallout lands.

Hiya is super suspicious, but a bit too obvious? Monchi's my guess, although I have no idea why he'd do such a thing. Why on Earth is she calling him & thanking him? There's also one of the girls as a suspect too? Or the newspaper club girl? Possibly.
So good!

It's surprising that most people didn't catch the surface explanation for Yuki's Marron Glace convo, she's referring the walnut to her personality, which is unordinary and the syrup to Ordinary, which is Urino's personality. So if she interacts more with Urino (dips into more syrup), she can eventually overwrite her sour/unneeded unordinary personality thereby achieving her wish of becoming ordinary.

Now that convo can even refer to something else as well but still, that's what I got.

Either way, the thing I find scariest about Osanai is how she manipulates others, it's not straightforward at all, like take the new column introduction in the newspaper club

First she approaches Kengo and says, don't write about the summer incident and then changes to you can write any other incident apart from that.
Second, she approaches a person in the newspaper club she has no relation with, by portraying herself as a first year and suggests that the new column can be introduced for a neighborhood charity thingy

See, by combining those 2 instances she gets herself the exact result she wanted, how? Kengo doesn't want to create a new column to write about the summer event when brought up by Urino, but he receives a suggestion that anything other than that is safe, at the same time he gets a nice proposal for the new column, so barring anything unseen happening, he'd be acceptable to it, because it's a better alternative to the summer incident and so approves it, thereby granting Osanai's wish to support her new syrupboyfriend...

Now for the scariest part, in all of this, Osanai is not considered as the reason for the creation of the column even though she was the mastermind behind it getting created, all the people involved think they did it cause it was their own perogative rather than being manipulated by Osanai, she's a splendid monster through and through.

The more I watch, the more I believe none of the characters are as good as they seem. Osanai is clearly a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and it honestly scares me to think she might be pulling the strings behind several characters. Kobato is dating Nakamaru, but I think he only agreed to go out with her because he’s trying to replace Osanai—still chasing the idea of being "normal." Nakamaru seemed really sweet at first, but now she gives off slightly toxic vibes. It feels like she just wants to be noticed by Kobato, the laid-back guy who never paid attention to anyone.

Urino isn’t bad, but his strong desire to be recognized might push him to take risks with Osanai, and that could end badly. His friend, though—he gives me serious bad vibes. I wouldn't be surprised if he’s somehow connected to the fires, especially after he told Urino to prepare two versions of his story.

Kengo is the only one who still seems trustworthy.

Urino's friend keeps ringing alarm bells in my head.

My guess is Urino's friend is the one committing arson. He seems a bit too invested in continuing the arsonist story, and always insists that he's too busy with cram school to do anything. He might've gotten into this because he's bored from his studies and he wants to help Urino write his articles.

Osanai's sugar-coated chestnut analogy may be a vague reference to the arsonist's behavior (in addition to Urino "being her syrup"); the culprit's not an arsonist at his core, but repeated arson is starting to affect his core being. "The means become the end."

Whoever the arsonist is, I'm sure Osanai somehow figured it out and is helping/encouraging/manipulating him. For her own amusement, and also to rope in Kobato from afar. Brings back unpleasant memories from Season 1, and her character continues to be full-on creepy and lacking charm.

Nitta (?), the annoyed teacher, also seems to be a player in all of this (I believe it's his name that Osanai pointed out to Urino), but it's not clear at all what he'd want from this situation.

A bike..then the same van (who drove there?)...far too many clues pointing to Osanai being the arsonist, but that might be a red herring. I can think of a handful of other possible culprits, like the redheaded boy's cram school friend.

When Osanai called her new redhead bf her syrup...I think it can be interpreted that she herself was the chestnut, and thus she herself is not very sweet compared to the several layers of sugar coatings hiding the chestnut. Very sus.

The connection from Kengo to Kobato about the Newspaper Club's findings about the serial arson, the idea raised by Itsukaichi and written by Urino, and it immediately becomes headline news in the Funado Monthly. But Urino consulting Hiya on how he can be closer to Osanai given her distance, and sweets come to mind in order to give a rather positive response. Soon, the classmates come flocking to him for answers on how he's able to pick up the mysteries, though Nitta soon caught wind and forces Kengo to request Urino to write his piece to reveal his secret, which the case is clearly still ongoing with grave consequences if he stops it now. To that front, Hiya advising him to write 2 versions of the paper for backup, it's both for safety and reassurance for his turnaround.

Another date with Osanai for more sweets, though this time she brings about a warning to Urino. On the other hand, Kobato's date with Nakamaru, as cute as it seems, she seems a better observer towards Kobato, but something feels amiss with how she phrases him giving Osanai up out of his own prejudice.

If anything, the relationships both Kobato and Osanai have on their hands, will come to question with the serial arson case soon enough.
