| If Ace dies, and I think that is a given, Luffy has to change. Luffy has been going through life as if everything is a fun adventure, and he needs a really big shock to make him realize that he has to take a real stand if he wants to make a difference in the world. It's time for Luffy to grow up, and this may be the driver that turns him from being just another kid with big ideas into a true power. My bet is that Oda will take that approach. It will be interesting to see if he does. |

I love One Piece for what it has been in the past, but it's clear that Oda is making strides to deal with increasingly more mature content. The arc at Sabaody Archipelago is the best example of this i.e. slavery is not something easily addressed and I think Oda did a wonderful job touching on that issue. Luffy's simplistic outlook on life and "love" for adventure is a timeless One Piece theme, but sometimes people change, and go through transitions in life. That doesn't necessarily mean that they will end up becoming different people entirely, but people tend to grow and their beliefs and values slowly become shifted due to events in their lives. Ace's death would be one of these such events. Will Oda use this opportunity to advance Luffy's character even more? That's something I don't think anyone can know as of yet. But when it's all said and done I'm fine with either outcome. Ace surviving and the journey continues, or Ace dies and the journey continues. The story will go on, just in entirely different directions. We just have to sit back and see which path Oda will choose to write. |

So if it vanishes it means the owner of that card ace has all but been extinguished from the world. |

I know he was hit by another logia that has an advantage over him but I think he will be fine. He'll be badly damaged, but not dead. The hole was probably caused by Ace still being partially fire. Akainu punched Ace so the burn will damage his insides but the rest of his body will reform after Akainu's fist leaves. Also his vivre card didn't totally vanish. |

It doesn't make sense. They just made him that way because his supposed to be an admiral. Lava is kind of solid and thick, if he can be a logia then why isn't Magellan who is poison. Hell, poison is more liquid than lava. Akainu should have been a little something like Magellan, can't touch him because you get burned with all the lava around him but still have a solid body. As about Ace. Yeah he seems dead to me. Kind of ironic that the guy who's fire it self got burned to death. |

| I saw the title of the next chapter, but I couldn't believe it. I thought, "no, no way, after all this Ace can't possibly die. If he dies, then I... fuck! Nopenopenope" And... he died. Or is about to. But that last scene was enough to make me stop and stare blankly as tears welled up in my eyes. Basically all the hope of Whitebeard's crew, all of Luffy's determination, you could FEEL them. It's like they could move mountains (and Whitebeard might as well). But he still dies. SO HOW THE HELL DOES THAT NOT BREAK YOUR HEART HUH *cough* I'm sorry. It's just... The only other manga that made me cry was Berserk, and I think that says a lot. The emotional rollercoaster that Oda-sensei puts you through is just incredible. |
