| I'm seeing kind of recurring trend this season. Somehow, it always puts Akane in a competition against some rival to win something. This time just happens to be a skating competition. Poor P-Chan just had to get involved in this. Not sure how I feel about Azusa. She seems way too attached to cute things such as P-Chan. |

| What an absolute banger of an episode. It was so adorable and so awesome from every single point. I loved the storyboarding of this episode a lot. Probably my favorite one so far in this entire show and the characters matched the tone just as well. Azusa and Mikado are here and already in a battle with Akane and Ranma over P-Chan. Ranma's first kiss was stolen. Poor guy but he took his revenge on him. So, that's good. After that, the entire Ranma x Akane almost-kiss moment was so fucking cute. My heart. So well done. Excellent episode. My favorite. Loved it so much. |

| Ahhhhh we were so freaking close to a kiss goddamn it 😭 it’s so nice having an MC who actually realises what he got in front of him and you can see him growing to like the female lead more and more every ep. Total departure from how frustrating Ataru was. Loved this episode from start to finish. Shiratori was great and I hope we see more of her going forward. That doubles skating contest did not go how she expected at all tho. Ranma beat buddy so bad he passed out standing up lmao. Actually sucks that Ranma got his first kiss stolen though because that’s such an intimate and important moment! Was hoping we’d get a Ranma and akane kiss there at the end especially since they emphasised her lips in the scene, but nope just a tease. They’re getting there though! Such a cute end to the episode, I love these two lovebirds sm. they’re so in love already they just don’t know it. Like how Ranma got jealous when dude was flirting with her in the ramen shop lol. He just gotta stop making her cry!! |

| Aoi Yuuki voices the Kleptomaniac ice skater. Her martial arts skating prowess must outweigh her affliction for her partner Mikado to keep up with it. Fitting that like Mendou in UY he's voiced by Mamoru Miyano who similarly gets physical abuse from his sister. Ranma revealing his name in female form has led to his classmates begging him to introduce her, not knowing they are one and the same. Ranma had his first kiss stolen by Mikado. He gets the martial arts part but sucks at skating too much that his rage can't do anything but damage the rink around Mikado and get himself hurt, but he manages to trigger some pressure point to freeze Mikado completely. no one questioned Ryoga's Charlotte collar lol Akane's sisters play the audience surrogates as Ranma and Akane drag along the kiss scene. |

| Lmao. The magician intro was funny. Can't be a Rumiko Takahashi classic without a skating episode. This time it's ice skating. I remember there was a whole bunch of drama with the ice skating episodes in the OG. Firstly, there was a real-life kidnapping that clashed with the title of the episode "The Abduction of P-Chan". It was produced as the 14th episode but it aired as the 25th episode. This means that this arc aired after Anyway, Aoi Yuuki and Mamoru Miyano voicing Azusa and Mikado respectively. They voiced Ten and Mendo respectively in the Urusei Yatsura Remake! It feels great to hear them again. I wonder if we'll get more Urusei Yatsura All-Stars voice actors return in Ranma 1/2 2024. I really like Mamoru Miyano as Mikado. Aoi Yuuki as Azusa not so much. I still distinctly remember the OG Azusa's voice. The new voice doesn't have the same energy, unfortunately. Not that she's doing a bad job. It's just that the OG actor for Azusa wNaoko Matsui was insanely good. Ranma got kissed by a guy... That too in front of Akane... That'd hurt the pride of any man. I feel bad for him. I still heavily prefer the OG dub line of Akane after Mikado kissed Ranma "You'd cry too if you realized who you just kissed." One of the few times where the dub line was better than the original lol. I also miss the OG's anime-original inclusion of Genma in the episode. The near kiss of Ranma and Akane at the end of the episode looked so good. Mappa is really making Akane look as cute as possible. Thank you, Mappa. I wish the two weren't interrupted... |
| The development between Ranma and Akane is more steady than I initially expected from this type of show. Both are clearly slowly is falling for each other. This was one of the best one progressing the relationship and it fall just short of pure perfection. Ranma melting immediately seeing Akane cry, getting jealous when Mikado tried to kiss and immediately thinking of embarrassment of that kiss cause Akane saw that too. As with the theme nothing is that peaceful. Mikado and Azusma is literally here to pick a bone. That P-chan won't be cute once it is soaked in hot water stop chasing him. Don't getting this Ryouga hate at worst he is a funny annoyance at best Akane also deserve a harem if Ranma is getting one. How no one noticed that charlotte collor🤣🤣 Mikado stealing first kiss from Ranma was definitely traumatic and really hurt him bad but it's hilarious none the less. Atleast he got his revenge as he gave him a good beating. How good skater he is if it martial in it Ranma ain't loosing. 518 well deserved hits. Akane was also bothered by that so she tried her best to console her genuinely. It was very cute to see them trying and fumbling so hard in trying to kiss. They were getting there and both of the were ready but freaking audiance got impatient lol. I hate these trope so much. But still good to see them getting more closer. One of the best episode so far. |

damn, this was incredible episode, we almost got them to kiss, shame ranma's first kiss was stolen by a guy. It's getting more and more clear that they actually started to have feelings for each other, can't wait for when they actually get together and kiss. I absolutely love this long slow relationship developments, always makes is so good and worth when it finally happens. Ryoga is annoying as af, I rly hope Akane realizes one time that he's actually a pig, he even has that stupid pink collar now, there's no way she doesn't connect it to pig now.

| This episode was so good, Ranma being jealous at the restaurant, those two jerks were also pretty funny alongside the shop owner, then Evil Ranma unleashing his fury and Ranma being so vulnerable after what happened, last but not least such a sweet scene between those two. |

| I enjoyed that little Death Note and Kaito Kid VA reunion! Ngl I will always have a soft spot for the 80's anime even though the remake is super fun. I love that additional stupid dialogue between Ryoga and Ranma in the original where they refer to themselves as the “Falcon of the Ice" and “The Wolf of the Rink” respectively, based on how their awesome their skating skills were just before they both fell behind their backs 😂 I know MAPPA is following the manga more closely and that's great, but I do miss these randomly added scenes here and there. I might be the only one thinking this, but I'm glad Azusa's Japanese VA is actually tolerable this time, one of the few times I highly prefer the remake over the OG. Her old voice was grating on my ears and I gladly skip through her tantrums on rewatch, lol. |
| Azusa was relentless with those attacks at Mikado. But I don't think either of them have heard the phrase "hands to yourself". What a pair... Also when Ranma's mood is ruined, Akane still has his back in her own way. But clearly these two tsunderes aren't ready for a kiss! |

Yep. This adaptation continues to adapt the chapters of the manga in the order they are in the manga. The 1989 version adapted different chapters at this point, before eventually adapting the events of this episode in a later episode.
| @wildhood The og series skipped this arc on the initial broadcast due to series kidnappings that were happening in Japan at the time. I believe newer Japanese releases have this arc in the proper place, though it still uses the OP & ED of season 2. |

| Ranma is gradually growing fond of Akane, and their relationship develops little by little in this episode. I must say Mikado is such a jerk, he deserves to pay for stealing a kiss from Ranma (though it was only a matter of time before one of his simps did it). The ending of the episode is quite beautiful and adorable. They may not love each other yet, but it's only a matter of time. |

| I was wondering what we’d be getting this week since the OG does a bit of a different order here, nice that it’s the manga order where we’re getting this ice skating arc first, it was moved around in the OG and instead another major character was introduced early, and that arc in particular references this arc so you know that was kinda confusing lol, but I’m dedicated to the original airing order so it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. And this ice skating arc i remember being a lot of fun, I really love the golden pair Azusa and Mikado, goofy ahh duo but I like them a lot, Azusa I especially find hilarious with her whole gimmick of beating the ever loving shit out of someone until she gets what she wants lol, nice to hear it’s Aoi Yuuki doing her new voice too, I prefer the original because it’s so perfect but she’s doing a great job for sure. Ranma’s first kiss scene was also done great here in the remake, love seeing Ranma become completely broken to extra fired up right after, funny how he actually beats Mikado there despite taking a beating himself too. And that last scene of the almost kiss was super cute, I really liked the way Ranma swept Akane into his arms, the family ruined it of course but it was a great moment, I forgot how much the early part of the show had Ranma and Akane having these romantic moments. |

@animegamer245 Yes, but even if we ignore that, they still would go on to adapt some other chapters in a different order than they were in the manga in the 1989 version. For example:
Episode 42 adapted chapters 88 to 91
Episode 43 adapted chapters 109 to 110
Episode 44 adapted chapters 106 to 108
This arc, which was delayed for later episodes, is just the first instance where they decide to start adapting chapters out of order. Even if there's an explanation for why they delayed this arc for later, there's no explanation for the other instances where the chapters are adapted out of order.
