Early 2000 to 2010. These kind of animes doesn't appear anymore. People are too weak and getting offended by the smallest thing nowadays.

1963-1997 from Osamu Tezuka astro Boy to ginya eiyuu Densetsu OVA 1988. The fallout happened with ginya eiyuu Densetsu garden. In that era everything influential was in Gundam, DBZ, sailor Moon and so on.

Early 2010's to Covid were the years anime was popularized the most, and I'd say they were also the best years for high quality anime.

1975-1990; I consider this a era of Golden Age
1991-2004: The Silver Age
2005-2017: The Modern Era
2016-2024: The Mainstream era

For me the peak is the 80s era they made with passion while favorite era was early 2000s era.

1979 to 2009 for me. Anime had the most diversity throughout this period in time. Since 2009 we've been in an era of genre hyperproduction after genre hyperproduction (2009-2013 CGDCT, 2013 - 2019 isekai, 2019- romcoms).

@ShatteredSans I don't think that current studios will be able to do it justice comparatively to its first season, and for that reason alone I can ascertain that we are definitely not currently in the golden age of anime. I don't honestly know when it was, but I would say it has to be pre-2016.

@velvetnyan I think it depends on the studio tbh. After seeing what Madhouse did with Frieren (and knowing that the director of the first season and the movie still works with them), I think they could do it justice. David Productions could also do great if they're given enough time and money.

For the industry right now is the golden era because anime is popular more than ever and more accessible than ever.

When it comes to what time period had the best anime I will say there is non. Just like today back in the day you had allot of good anime and allot of shit anime. People love to say videos game was better in the past and I have to ask was it relay hmm ? Or are you nostalgia for a time where you where young and life was not as ass as it is today and your where less depress clouding your judgment.

There was allot of good anime back in the day but equally as many crap ones. It´s just matter of taste. Yeah miss the good old days of space opera for sure but Im not gonna say it was the golden era just because I happen to love space operas and they don´t make them anymore.

1995-2012. Evangelion kicked it off by destroying all conceptual barriers as to what anime could be, and brilliance just seems to start drying up after 2012, I think anime becomes too good at catering to it's specific interests.

2010s especially early 2010s since almost every genre was balanced.

Best Anime Era
1) 2010s (early → late → mid)
2) 2020s (so far early is ok)
3) 1980s (late → mid → early)
4) 2000s (late → early → mid)
5) 1990s (late → mid → early)/1970s (late → mid → early)
6) 1960s (mid → late → early)

To me it's probably 1990-2010 but those can be categorized in two distinct eras. If we're talking Golden probably the 80's-90's because they had a lot of the primordial bases set by the first shows and were experimenting a little more without leaving behind the commercial appeal. A lot of the shows and techniques both in animation and writing made in these years have become the Bible for japanese animation even to this day.

In my opinion, anime peaked around or in your language " Golden Age of Anime" was from 2000 to 2015.

The majority of my favorite anime has been made in mid-2010s so naturally I would say that this period is the 'golden age of anime'.

That said I think there are also a lot of great anime in the late 2010s and the early 2020s.
It's just that the ones made in the mid-2010s are more to my taste, if that makes sense :)
