Senya fought a tense battle but felt like getting to the truth was more important than winning.

Not going to lie, I think he improved a lot this season in terms of combat skills. Hanatora also got more screen time...but feels like she's there as a mentor. Her knowledge and providing that sword to Senya is just a testament of her importance to this arc.

Yoshiteru Ashikaga is dead, and what matters now is Senya's recovery, though Shinzuke and Zanzou's blood being manifested in the village, they are both regressed into being regional gods who are stuck in one place, no thanks to Hanatora. But with the Group of Five showing themselves before Senya, at least his conscience is a lot better to understand why they are driving the land gods mad. Revealing themselves as the Void People fighting for their salvation and taking the thousandfold singularity for themselves, the teamwork between Senya and his thousandfold katawara have gotten better to take down descendants, though Jinka's thousand-tailed Youko is the other one they're targeting.

Both Senya and Tsukiko clearly need to get stronger, and Hanatora doesn't beat around the bush, leading to an 8-year timeskip with Zanzou having a family, and both kids growing into capable teenagers alongside Nau. It's certainly been awhile to see Tago again without Mudo, and the once-kids going to see Tama in Shinsuke's place to witness Jinka's revival...

Oh, how time flies for the new generation to continue the journey.

I probably already said this but I'll say it again: The casting director should use male voice actor for Senya role from the start.

Apparently it's a choice made by the series director. He mentioned in an interview that he chose seiyuus that could voice the characters over different ages.

Man rip Teru, still thinking about the last episode. One of the best we’ve had. But knowing he’s with Senya in the time sword is comforting. He was such a good big brother figure for him in the few interactions they had.

This episode was amazing as well. Senya vs the void people was really cool, and that lore drop about him being a descendant, them coming from the past.. holy shit this story is getting much bigger than we ever expected. How far in the past did they come from and what happened to their timeline?

Hanatora offering to train the kids and they can only pay her with rocks and a stick had me crying man 😭 she’s the nicest god we’ve seen so far though, didn’t even expect payment upfront.

Also 8 year timeskip????! Omg Tsukiko and Senya all grown up look so good. But I’m wondering is senya the actual MC of the series now and the first half was just setting him up to take over?? If so that’s a really cool touch that I haven’t seen since Higu.

Shinsuke got old as hell too haha. Can’t wait to see Jinka next week!

@Marinate1016 Yes, the first arc was effectively set up for Senya to become the real protagonist.

I'd like to add on though that it was entirely unplanned. The author mentioned that he had no idea he'd have Senya be the new protagonist lol. Unlike his other mangas, he didn't plan out Sengoku Youko and mostly winged it.

Oh my goodness, the writing is appalling. Shinsuke loses significance. The plot is incredibly boring and lacks any momentum at all.

Should I keep watching? is it worth the pain?

Yes, you should drop it. Senya's journey so far has been interesting with the themes it's brung and how it parallels part 1 but if that's boring to you then you won't like what's coming up.

That's one hell of a timeskip, was expecting at least a montage but they did it better than ToG at least lol. Tama is back, nice to see.

@InNeedOfAName bet, I will drop it. Stories that lack direction from the start are not my cup of tea. However, I appreciate the clarification.

whoa i was not expecting that big of a time skip, feels weird to see Shinsuke aging lol. I really loved seeing Sen'ya say he wants to become someone who can cry, that was very touching and I love seeing a shonen anime go against the idea that not crying is a strenght

There's the time-skip. Which the OP spoiled by showing an older Tsukiko. Everyone's 8 years older now. Senya now the protagonist. And we're finally going to see Jinka again.

I’m sorry but the way they did that timeskip was so stupidly jarring. I’m sure most people here wouldn’t mind it given the set bar standards of this adaptation, though.

Void People? They're not shinigamis? They're from the past? And Senya is their descendant??? And they seem to have Jinka in their possession??? Wtf. That's a lot of bombshells to drop in a single scene. I have so many questions.

So, we finally have the timeskip. It's an 8-year timeskip and Senya and Tsukiko are already adults. This would've been surprising if the OP hadn't already spoiled this. I love adult Tsukiko's design tho. Her green hair and ponytail remind me a lot of Crusch Karsten from Re:ZERO. And although Senya became older and looks more badass it seems in his heart he's still a child. Same.

So, Shinsuke became some sort of regional god and can't leave his place now. That sucks. He was one of the main characters of Part 1 and now he's not part of the main group anymore. Zanzou has a family now too. That's crazy. Shinsuke can't settle because he's still holding out for Shakugan. I feel bad for them.

I do agree with how the timeskip was handled in this episode tho. It came way too abruptly. If anything, this episode should've ended with the timeskip and older Senya and Tsukiko (and Nau) heading out instead of it happening about 2/3rd into the episode. It would've been more impactful that way. Oh well.

If Mudo is training with human martial arts then that'd make him a huge threat. It's like Freeza from Dragon Ball training for the first time in his life.

The episode ends with Senya and Tsukiko meeting up with Tama. Looks like Jinka might make his proper appearance in the next episode too. I wonder if Tama will join the gang.

Senya beats the 5 void people and just like that they take Shinsuke out of the picture by that god trapping him in the village....jerk. And then boom timeskip out of nowhere.

@InNeedOfAName He is great at winging it! I think the transition to Senya was perfect and honestly, I like him way more than any other character besides Shakugan

EIGHT years?? I'm not sure how I feel about this. Also, whatever transpired last episode did not seem to have much to do with what's happening here. Senya and Tsukiko are just off to see Tama? For... reasons?

Ok 8 year time skip. Shinsuke officially retired now I guess since he's stuck in that village? Senya also the protagonist of the story now and he with Tsukiko go meet Tama. Finally going to see Jink again. We also got the identity of the 5 figures. Void people that time travel?
