| Kafka he is hilarious as.... π€£. Extraction from 0.1 to 1 % is a great success for real π€£. Ashino-San was about to say Kafka but she stopped π. Seems like Mina Smiled π€©π€ in expense of kafka's 100 push-ups. Secrets out of the bag now everyone knows about their childhood relationship. So Kafka he's aiming for Vice-Captian position. It's time for the 1st Mission!!  |

| Yep, here's our supposedly super mature 32-year-old MC, turning into the comic relief for the squad. Lol. Kafka expresses gratitude to Leno for urging him to finish his exams. Leno starts believing Kafka has become more dependable, only to be proven wrong the following day when Kafka anxiously awaits his test scores. Just before opening the result letter, Kafka daydreams about him and Mina fighting together in the defense force. Soon after, Mina appoints Kikoru as an official member of the defense force. While Kikoru feels proud of her accomplishment, she also feels guilty that Kafka couldn't pass the exam after saving her, and that Mina is praising her instead. I'm curious about Kafka's "hero's journey" and how it will unfold. While training for the corps is progressing, his Kaiju-form appears to be already quite formidable. Still, it was a really good episode, even without much action. We got more character moments, like Kafka calling her by her first name, which she secretly smiled about. And there's tension building with the vice captain sensing that something's amiss. I'm glad there's no animosity between recruits, just some casual workplace rivalry. It's a refreshing break from the overly dramatic anime out there. Now, it's time for the squad's first mission... how will it all play out, I wonder? |

| After such a horrid performance during the entrance examinations, there should be no logic to explain Kafka’s selection, like literally NO. But him being the main character and this series being uber cliche, of course he’d selected one way or the other, sigh… A BIG FUCKING SIGH. Though I like how at least they’re accepting the fact that he’s a clown, and his selection is based upon that lol. “i sAw SOmEThInG iN HiM”, like hell you did man. Hoshina a good person, but this still can’t explain his reasons for selecting Kafka, even as a cadet lmaooooo. Anyways, when Kafka interrupted Mina and sounded like the same fucking broken record he is, that was soooooooo embarrassing. I legit got second-hand embarrassment from that lol. Though he won’t learn, and will continue to be the clown of their unit… so yeah. Unfunny humour and Kafka being hell-bent in competing with a girl literally half his age aside, at least there’d be a fight next episode. The only thing worth looking forward to. |

| Kafka is just too relatable as a mc, reason why I enjoyed this so far. Kinda get the feeling Soushirou has set this up for ulterior motives, because that was too much of a coincidence after he warned Kafka. |
| Live just ended again. i'm happy that I can keep up with the subtitles again hahaha. Really convenient It's the 5th week. And 5th episode. I think Kaiju no. 8 is the funniest TV anime I'm watching this season. I've been smiling and laughing the whole episode. They really doing the manga justice. Kafka-kun the source of energy in the anime. Bro always funny there's never a boring moment. Looking forward next week again! |

| Characters and the overall designs and expressions didn't look very good visually in this episode again (Kikoru's hair looks like it can physically hurt badly by just looking at it based on how stiff it looks), but it was a decent step actually letting Kafka and the others that were promoted to being officers to bond with each other before Kafka's first mission will be taking place. A bit of news and jealousy is in the air among some of the officers with Kafka claiming to be the childhood friend of the hero a lot of them idolize in Mina Ashiro, but for the time being, people there still seem to be working hard and committed to the job. Bit of tension too between Vice Commander Hoshina who is working by Ashiro's side and Kafka near the end there but for the time being, Kafka has been putting in the work to catch up to some degree with the others. Can't say I find the characters to be likable or fun to watch in the series but at least there was time given to familiarize the audience with these new faces in a little bit more detail, just wish the humor itself was a lot better than it has been with this show so far (but humor in a lot of Jump action series are mostly a miss for me unless they were purely a comedy anime like how Gintama was). At least this episode took the right steps on its own to build up to a more action packed episode next week. |
| Felt like a more team-building type of episode as we see the dynamics of all the new squad members. It was pretty funny how they all ganged up on Kafka after learning he and Mina are childhood friends lol. He's got a long way to go though if he wants to stand by her side, and he seems to understand that with how much more work he's putting in to keep up with the others. Looks like we'll get into some action next episode. |

| My god, this is probably the cringiest anime episode I have ever seen. I had to stop the episode for almost 10 minutes before continuing. I never thought an anime/manga character can make me feel like this, even kazuya wasn't that bad. The series is already a generic and predictable but Kafka is really making it hard for me to watch. |

| From how it was presented I don't think anyone that took the test did worse than MC and he still passed. They must of been pretty desperate for recruits. Next episode, time to kill a kaiju. I wonder if we'll even be able to use MC's abilities in front of everyone after it was shown he is weak since it would make it obvious that something is going on. |
| Mina fresh out of bath, peak. It was nice to see her smile at the ceremony. A lot of people look upto Mina and they even found out about Kafka and her but he's the type of guy you can't hate so everything's fine. Kikoru's reactions thriughout the episode were amusing and she's a fun girl. Btw the tiger might have noticed about Kafka? It roared infront of him and seemed confused after. Prolly thought he found a kaiju but it was Kafka. |

| Kafka barely made it into the defense force, but only as a cadet in Hoshina's platoon for three months in a hilarious fashion. Shinomiya on the other hand is willing to keep Kafka's secret after he saved her life. Despite the intense training, Kafka combat power only improved to 1% while everyone else was competing over who had the best results. It seems that everyone joined the defense force because of Mina, but I found it funny when the guys got jealous of Kafka because of the childhood friend troupe. Vice Captain Hoshina didn't take to kindly that an untalented guy like Kafka is gunning for his spot. Kick ass kaiju action next week. |

| Kafka passed... but as a cadet. Hoshina suspects something is fishy with Kafka. That's the real reason why he was accepted him Ig. Makes sense. I like how goofy my man Kafka is. Tho the only part of this episode I didn't like was his blurting out his internal thoughts in front of everyone. That was too cliche. Mina seemed happy to see Kafka at least. I'm wondering how the relationship between the two will progress. Kafka is probably the strongest person in the room. I like how the story keeps him as the underdog when he's still in his human form. I already liked Kafka and Kikoru's rivalry and his friendship with Ichikawa. I like the newer characters too. They seem interesting. I just hope they won't be fodder for the kaijus like the cadets in AOT Season 1... Man, I love this anime. It's so good. Can't wait to see the first mission. |
| The comedy on point this episode. I love the fake flexing from our main guy but man I am really liking Kikoru a lot. The backstory wasn't wowing me but I am liking how she isn't a total bitch and shows her moments of weakness. I am also like how the captain is written too. Good god why is everyone in this show so likable? It's not original but this cast of characters are so cool. |

| @Softhenic03 Well it's pretty clear. His Kaiju knowledge is S tier and the vice captain find his personality engaging as it is clear he feels everyone is too serious. He did see something in him but that isn't "Wow this guy could be," but mroe so "wow this guy has something about him I want to know." So he is already onto the odd shit about him. It's clear he knows something is up and his real reason is to keep Kafka close to him to find out if his theory is correct. So there was logic in him being pick. Was this the best way to go about it? Eh....kind of but it works for the story they're trying to tell. Kafka is legit a goofball and that's why we love him. Don't be too hard on him as he is coming into his own. |

| Nice to see everyone made it into the defense force, it seemed like Kafka didn’t at first but I was thinking he was just in the bathroom or something, turns out he made it as a cadet and just didn’t get to be in the beginning of it, and right off the bat he’s being goofy by saying what he’s thinking out loud lol, yeah that was a bit silly but I liked the moment, especially because of Mina’s reaction. And speaking of Mina, it looks like all the dudes joined up because of her, can’t blame them really, and after Kafka explained why he joined they wanted all the details lol, I guess it’s more than just looking up to her. And I was surprised we didn’t get to see the girls in the bath, I thought for sure it was coming but it never did, plenty of fanservice for the dudes tho lol, but seeing Mina fresh out of the bath was nice enough for me. We also saw Kikoru get the rundown on how Kafka became a kaiju, the reaction was great but it also got a bit serious when she said she’d have to put him down if he becomes a danger to humanity, there is a lot we don’t know about his kaiju form after all so it’s possible it takes over at some point. And at the end we got teased on the new recruits’ first mission right at bedtime, a rough time for it but I’m looking forward to seeing how they handle it, kaijus don’t care what time it is lol. |
| Kafka finally joined the gang. I'm so proud of him. Felt so satisfied after seeing him there even tho he struggled so much. I felt secondhand embarrassment when he called out Ashiro like that in front of everyone. LOL. I really love his character. He's funny. Also, the OST has been amazing so far. Plus, a lot of funny faces in this episode. The first proper mission is here and I can't wait to see how they execute it, especially Kafka. Every character so far feels nice and lovable. Can't wait for more. |

| Its good to see Kafka being recruited to the jdf already. But when its at the mercy of those fun vice captain care, as he's becoming a clown of the squad. Idk you guys. Wish him to working more hard. 1% isn't enough, you need to get 6,9% for a full fledge officer job, not just chit-chat nonstop with coworkers and be funny 24/7. As a good old man, give some good lesson to those kiddo, okay? Then finally here come first mission for Kafka to show his dignity as a good old man. On the other side, its cute seeing Kikoru sharing secret with her old man. After all, you can't betray your savior, right? Expect to see more expression from her, so let's just see the next! |

| I was eagerly waitin' for that drama Kafka pulled by accidentally calling Ashiro by her first name lol. And that smile of hers really warmed my heart, hope Kafka could've noticed that. Beside that Kikoru and Ashiro's interaction at the laundry wasn't in the manga as far my memory serves...well np as it didn't create any major differences Letz see how they adapt the 1st mission |

| Great light-hearted interactions between each one of their group. The bath scene was how you do men's things manly. In a "hot springs" sol episode. 100% normal interactions right there. If the men's bath had an actual luxury steam bath instead of a sauna. Still happens but not as cool as expressed here. Ie when its a clear cultural norm. Instead of surrealism everywhere else in the world. As that setting would be immense opulence rarely seen even in palatial grounds. You don't see a king and his bros hanging out talking about how hot their commander is to her "consort". Made this feel very realistic to me. You could see it at a gym, anywhere. Why? They nailed the delivery by not using the water or baths as part of the plot. Or at least expressed in English no inference of "normalcy". Skipping the girls entirely. Was a good director's call. (I assume this am not commenting on source) Need more anime instances of fanservice between Chad Son Goku and the Bros. Just like this. I see the typical stereotyped classical anime girls having girl time away from the men. While they are in the public baths. I get it advertisements as this have importance in expressing their cultural exports to foreigners. Doubly so in a rare positive expression of the Defense Force. Due to how careful Japanese culture is in expressing war in a positive light, even against fictitious forces or aliens. So seeing the American-inspired classic male Hollywood depictions of men during the "training" arc period. Famous from our propaganda-funded recruitment efforts to showcase our boot camp experience over the last 70 years or so. Here, executed in an in-context form. Shows a lot of care and effort. Into adapting this across languages let alone shot composition. Or direction of the keyframes, etc. I'm just saying I noticed. I think others will too. Even if they have little exposure to the American military or its cultural nuances. Its really hard for us not smile when we see something familiar bridge a cultural divide. |
