| I dont like idols. It's such a weird concept to me. Those stupid clothes, ridiculous dancing and godawful music. the girls look like idiot clowns... why would anyone idolize that? I just dont get the appeal. I guess I'm not asian enough. when it comes to anime I always favor cute over hot. But there's plenty of other shows to provide for all my cute anime girl needs without ever having to delve into idol crap. |

| most of my favorite idols fall under the “cute” category. Having said that, there are also anime idols that fall under “cool” rather than cute. For example, Takumi Mukai , Tsukasa Kiryu, Kaede Takagaki and Natsuki Kimura from Idolmaster. There’s also the group P-key Peaky from D4DJ |

Idol culture exists for corrupt businesses to exploit and abuse talented and/or attractive people, force them into unconscionable contracts, use thinly veiled or explicit threats to make them feel like they have no way out other than to follow commands. Once they've drained the spirit of the artist and the wallets of the fans, they discard the talent like they're trash and find someone else to exploit. Now if you remove the word "idol" from there... I guess the answer would be "it depends". Somewhere in the middle would be optimal perhaps. |
