This episode played like a social experiment to see how Tomozaki can "pick up girls". It's a not game considering it happens in real life and at a festival.

Still, I find it funny how the show wants to see how much communication skills Tomozaki really has. Amusing episode putting him on the spot.

Mizusawa is the epitome of a best bro.

Invited by Mizusawa, Tomozaki decides to attend the cultural festival of a girls' high school. First, let's try some pick-up lines, says Mizusawa casually, effortlessly obtaining the contact information of girls from other schools who were just there to have fun. Tomozaki is overwhelmed by Mizusawa's conversational skills and charisma. On their way back, Mizusawa jokes about how he wanted to see how he would do with pick-up lines, to which Tomozaki says that with his current level... don't be so negative, Mizusawa advises Tomozaki. Mizusawa had been carefully observing Tomozaki's efforts to become more sociable and to strive for a fulfilling life, even if Tomozaki himself didn't realize it.

So, Mizusawa is like a phone number wizard, snagging two digits in under two minutes. Meanwhile, Tomozaki's social game is a bit hit or miss. If you're tight with him, he's chatty, but if not, it's a struggle. At least Tomozaki completed his tasks finally. Regarding the love triangle, I'm leaning towards Kikuchi because it seems Minami's just a pal to Tomozaki... or so I thought until that plot twist at the end.

Now, with Tomozaki's first love confession on the table, how's he gonna handle it?

Mizusawa is a player lmao. Not sure if I'd want to be like him, but he's cool.
Idk how realistic this is, but it's honestly so amazing how they are doing all of that management and control by themselves in high school.
Damn, he's really putting himself down... Gotta work more on self-confidence.
Nooooo waaaaayyyy this ending! aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh I had to rewatch that a couple times

Looks like Tomozaki will have a har time choosing between Mimimi and Fuka. IMO Mimimi is someone I'd rather be friends with but I don't really know if I can say no if a girl like her confesses to me(I don't know if she asks her out I'm an anime only guy) and I think Fuka kinda establish herself to Tomozaki that she is a potentail partner will all those dates and rendezvous they had. Good luck Tomozaki LOL.

Visiting Narita's school's culture fes sure was an enlightening experience. Fighting the war on your terms huh smart move. Kinda a shame that Narita isn't one of the girls that Tomo could go choose though. The selfie with Fuka sure was easier than imagined. Change unfortunately is not something thats instant and does take time and effort. Just like Minimi to be direct with both her questions and her feelings.

Hard to believe that 3 volumes have already been adapted in this 8 episode-span. Pacing-wise, this season definitely just feels too quick compared to the first season since that adapted 3 volumes in 12 episodes. This series just keeps on rolling at its pace. I did like the content here in the books, the anime version did feel too brief but at least there were still decent moments here. Mizusawa's character was someone I had zero expectations for when I started the series but he has probably been the most surprising one to me. Liked his interactions with Tomozaki and showing more support and advice considering Tomozaki has come a long way with his 'self-help books' to change himself for the better, must be nice for Tomozaki have his efforts be recognized in a positive manner. Also, the ending was something else too with Minami confessing to Tomozaki there out of nowhere. In a way, it is good seeing one spontaneously happen without having to wait way too long for once. Just hearing Tomozaki be associated with another girl (or girls from Tsugumi's school) potentially raised some alarm bells, and with how much she cared for him already, it makes sense for her to pull the trigger on this in a pretty good cliffhanger. Even Kikuchi's been asking if he's into someone so Tomozaki's romance routes are beginning to make some sort of progress here.

Episode content was one of the better ones of this season despite being fairly straightforward. I understand why they want to finish at the end of Volume 7 since it makes sense for an end point to a season but it feels like some potential that was there was sacrificed with some of the pacing in general (especially in the earlier episodes). It was still an alright episode with some good moments so I'll take what good I can get here.

It happened! After all of the signals from Mimimi the last few episodes of her being jealous of other girls getting Tomozaki's attention she finally took the plunge and told him she likes him! Going with professional pick up artist Mizusawa to an all girls school festival was probably the last straw. Poor Tomozaki might still be too stuck on all his years as a bottom tier character to truly acknowledge what she told him though...

Well, things should get a lot more spicy and interesting going forward. The real question now is, just how awkward are things going to get between Mimimi and Tomozaki? Especially now that they are doing a comedy sketch together???

I can tell this is leading up to him wanting to get with aoi but I really think minami is better for him or even fuuka.

Minami and tomozaki have such a good dynamic imo

I seriously hope this takes the quintessential quintuplets route and goes with the character which is less expected as tomozaki’s love interest.

And after minami basically confessed I really hope he chooses her, there so good together

Lots of developments in this episode. Mizusawa shows off his power by picking up girls at the other school, and gains some depth with his own views on popularity. The question is if he's going to leverage that popularity to win Aoi, and if he sees Tomozaki as a obstacle to him doing that. Next we have Aoi's motive for wanting to make Tomozaki popular: she wanted to prove her philosophy correct. Yeah, I don't buy it either.

Tomozaki puts himself slightly above other anime protagonists by giving a reason why he doesn't chase girls: he sees himself as having no value and being impossible to love. Thankfully, his self deprecation was interrupted by an unexpected actual confession from best girl Mimimi! How will Tomozaki react? Will he change his way of thinking? How will Fuuka's play and Mimimi's manzai act turn out? Just like in School Days, all roads lead to the culture festival.

Yo! I did not see that confession coming. I found Minami getting jealous lately really cute but didn't think she'd go for the confession. Love her, so what's his answer gonna be? Also waiting to see what Hinami's reaction will be.

Mizusawa's a good guy and friend. It was nice seeing Tomozaki's effort being recognised. I do wonder if what Aoi said was the truth, doubt it. I can understand how Tomozaki felt about thinking he doesn't deserve to choose. The bottom tier character has been ingrained in himself and while he has come far it's still not enough to make that decision. Anyway found some of the dialogues of this episode cringe again but otherwise was fine.

THE FUCKING BEST EPISODE OF THIS GODDAM ANIME.

MIMIMI DECLARED TO FUMIYA, LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO0O0OOOP0O0PO0PPO0O0OO00OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I didn't expect it at all, it definitely took me by surprise, I thought they would only give us crumbs of romance in this episode but damn they gave us damn raw gold.

From the first moment in which Misuzawa goes with Fumiya to the Gumi´s festival, showing us the enormous confidence that Misuzawa has in himself and recognizing Fumiya's efforts.

Fumiya and Fuka's approach to developing the play and how Fumiya is finally honest with himself about how he still feels like a lower level character.....

And of course, the icing on the cake: Mimimi declaring her love for Fumiya!!!!! Seriously, I didn't expect anything and damn, it took me by complete surprise, the anxiety is eating away at me, I want to see how things develop later (considering that there are still 5 episodes left), without a doubt, authentic fucking cinema 🚬.

@animejas Agreed. They had to cut out a lot of stuff to fit it all into 13 episodes to end with Volume 7, but given how often budgetary issues affect these decisions I am guessing that was a major factor behind it too. My biggest complaint on the cuts are a lot of missing internal monologue from Tomozaki to better understand his thoughts as the season progresses. Hopefully cutting content from the previous volumes a bit to give nearly 5 full episodes to Volume 7 (episode 9 still has to include the last chapter from Volume 6) will allow for more introspection and better pacing for the last 5 episodes.

For anyone that is interested, there is a short "half" Volume, Level 6.5, that was published between Volume 6 (end of this episode) and Volume 7 (the remaining 5 episodes) that devotes nearly the entire volume towards short stories for the side characters. It gives some nice insights into the thoughts of the side characters and includes stories relating to the end of this episode. Of the 10 chapters from that volume, 4 involve Mimimi including her thoughts from immediately after confessing to Tomozaki. Fuuka also gets a couple of chapters too which help flesh out her background.

If you are desperate for more Mimimi content after this week's episode, feel free to check out that volume. Since it was released before the next volume that gets animated there are no spoilers for what happens next. Cheers!

“Attractive guys attract people” truer words have never been spoken.

It’s hard to do a better job than Tomozaki has done in the last few months of making yourself attractive, not just physically, but becoming more attractive personality wise too. Everyone around him is noticing is growth. Coming from someone who “has it all figured out” like Misuzawa had to feel great for Tomozaki.

Gumi’s school festival was a nice opportunity to test some skills Tomozaki has learnt and see how someone like Misuzawa moves in these scenarios. Plus, we got to see Gumi who’s one of the cutest and most underrated girls in the series lol.

“If you had two or more special people in your life and could only choose one, how would you?” Fuuka’s question obviously applies to her deciding the ending of the play, but also to Tomozaki has he winds down his decision on who to date. Pretty much between Mimimi and Fuuka at this point. Honestly seeing this arc animated has made me like Fuuka a little more, but still Mimimi wins out for me. They’re just so natural whenever they’re together, the banter, the flow of conversation etc. when it’s meant to be, it should look like that.

Conversations between Fuuka and Tomozaki just always seem so stiff to me and like both sides have to put in so much work for them to progress.

Speaking of Mimimi, little jealousy arc from her there at the end? How did she even find out about Tomozaki being at the school festival lol. Pouting face Mimimi is sooooo cute.

ANNNND THE CONFESSION LETS GOOOOO. Waited years to see this animated and project no.9 COOKED. 😭 she looked so beautiful during that scene. Could not ask for a better job.

Great episode, things are starting to heat up relationship wise and I can’t wait for the next episode. This series is ridiculously underrated

No way!! Did best girl Mimimi just confessed, for real?? I expected it to drag for much longer!

She is my best girl since the very first episode (she was introduced) but there is no way the blue hair high energy girl will win, it's gonna be the shy (boring) short hair girl who was MC first love interest...

That confession from Mimimi was a pleasant surprise. When she momentarily dialed back and gave the "Haha, joking" line, I was rolling my eyes thinking, "Ah, great. We're probably gonna get more of this til' she musters up the courage to confess for real but by then it'll already be too late!"

But no. Just when it looked like Mimimi was going for the stereotypical "Aborted Love Confession" trope, she actually doubled down and confirmed that she liked him. My jaw dropped just as the music from the ending theme did.

I'm starting to like this trend in modern romcoms, where if a character's romantic feelings haven't been made clear to the protagonist, the character in question will look them dead in the eye and reaffirm said feelings. Reminds me a little of Nino's confession in Quintessential Quintuplets. Usually with these romcom confessions, the guy either A. Doesn't hear the girl, B. Already has feelings for someone else, or C. Is involved in some other hijinx leading to a misunderstanding that more often than not takes HUNDREDS of chapters or MULTIPLE seasons to rectify, and by then, YOU the reader/viewer will already be over it.

So yes. Mimimi throwing her name in the ballot while Fumiya is still sorting things out was a rather nice change of pace.

@Pustul Fuuka will get more screen time over the last 5 episodes to develop as part of putting on the play for the school festival, but Mimimi will also get plenty of love too with the comedy skit she is doing with Tomozaki.

The crazy thing to me is that the volume that will be adapted for the last 5 episodes this season (Volume 7) is what established Mimimi as a best girl contender for me, but all of the anime only watchers are already in love with her. How much deeper in love with a character will people be with Mimimi after the season ends?!?!?

The all girls school festival ended up being quite the experience after seeing Mizusawa rizz up these random girls, that first conversation was kinda genius on his part but I’m not sure if this strategy would work irl, if I tried it would probably end up kinda like Tomozaki’s attempt with the convo stopping dead in the tracks lol. Gumi with the bunny ears was a cute sight as well, I was hoping we’d get more of her at her own school but I’ll take this much. And Mizusawa giving Tomozaki recognition for his progress was a nice moment, he might be the rizzler but he’s also a bro, it probably also feels good just to have your achievements be noticed.

Later we had that nice moment with Kikuchi where we got an update on the play, as well as Tomozaki snagging that selfie, I’m glad he’s actually asking people for photos now than trying to sneak them lol, there was also that bit with her in the library which was pretty real actually, I know Tomozaki has come a long way but I get how he feels when it comes to choosing a girl. And that moment with Hinami went about as I expected, ain’t no way asking her straight up will get a completely honest answer when it comes to why she’s helping Tomozaki, I’m sure we got part of the true but that’s just it, a part lol.

And then something I absolutely wasn’t expecting, we started with Mimimi simply asking for Tomozaki to be her partner in a comedy act, okay that’s cool, I can see these two knocking them dead. But near the end it seemed like we were just having another nice moment with Mimimi, and then it sounded like she confessed but then made a joke out of it, but then she actually confessed and ran way lol, my reaction was similar to Tomozaki’s there. I’m a big fan of Mimimi so I was really happy to see this, although it does have me worried this won’t go well for her, either way I really look forward to seeing where this goes from here!

With this assignment Hinami gave Tomozaki, Mimimi (as of episode 7) actually already started to notice him (noticing him as a man/romantic partner). It is actually as Mizusawa said about how attractive people gets noticed by the by potential partners. Well Tomozaki is just trying to finish his assignment, but of course his sudden interaction with the girls really caught Mimimi's attention and she can't help but notice.

But blue-haired, and first to confess (sort of)? Ooof - those are your typical 'Blue Flags' in a romcom.
