I have to say, some characters in this show really have a lot of charisma. An example is Taren and he also has calculating mind admist all this war drama.

Not sure I feel this show's story direction but it seems they are continously trying to build into the lore. The limited character development is kinda holding this show back imo though. Hard to invest into any particular character so far.

I really enjoy how they're digging into the world and characters—it feels more human and relatable.

Taren the Punished, the former Twenty-Third General of Aureatia, is preparing for a full-scale war with the Yellow Capital. He receives a powerful magical tool called the Cold Star from Dakai the Magpie, who has returned from the Nagan Labyrinth City, harboring immense power. Suspecting that someone is clandestinely leaking information, Taren assigns a new task to Dakai amid a series of attacks on merchant caravans entering and leaving Lichia, instructing him to search for the infiltrator

Lmao, Taren must've been so pumped to be proven right about Dakai being there. I'm guessing they're talking about the Dungeon Golem that Yagyuu took down. I'm low-key wondering who'd win in a showdown between Dakai and Yagyuu. The OST just hit out of nowhere during Dakai's scrap with the bandits, but it's dope—I'm vibing hard with the soundtrack. Dakai's just straight-up badass, no holding back. And talking wyverns? This show goes from serious to silly real quick. Poor Curte though, losing her vision and hometown on the same day. Thank goodness for Regnejee being there to help out. Also post-credit scene. So there is angels in this world.

I really vibe with Dakai a lot. He's become my new favorite character.

This week's eyecatch:
The Twenty-Nine officials of Aureatia
The united nation of Aureatia is under the rule of a Queen, but the ones holding the real power are the Twenty-Nine officials of Aureatia.
Lords are civil officials and generals are military officers, there is no numerical hierarchy/pecking order based on numbers. (I don't really get what this means, maybe someone can clear it up?)

So some episodes for now are gonna be focused on completely separate characters before we get to the actual battle royale (although the previous 2 were referenced this episode), so I guess if you don't like it just deal with it or drop this.

16:03 Kate the fine weather (may be different once they actually pronounce her name in the anime)

There is a scene after credits! It teases the 2 next characters.
This was good! And the action scenes were epic too. I personally don't mind them jumping between characters like this at all.

too much focus on gore and shock value, too many main and support characters ..
"waiting" for the battles teased in the intro song will obviously all take place in the very last episodes...
12 episodes will not be enough to give enough screen time for everyone..
honestly .... i'm taking my leave ... drop...
it looked too good to be true.. because IT IS too good to be true.. the progress is too slow.
also so far, there is no specific goal in mind; every character just has its own goals.. you can't keep up with everyone.

YES I AM HERE ONLY FOR THE FINAL "TOTAL BATTLE ROYAL" i want to see unique skills crossing each other.. and since the show has 9 main characters.. it will neither need 9 episodes to showcase 9 battle royals, or it'll shortcut them all into a single open war, by the last 2 episodes, like a quickly scrambled eggs dish..
were we introduced to Yagyuu Soujirou, Hoshihase Alus, Seijakunaru Harghent, Tooi Kagizume no Yuno
Tooi Kagizume no Yuno, Sekki no Tsubasa Regnejee, Umitaru Higuare, Imashime no Taren, Kasasagi no Dakai , Otogiri Shark, Seiten no Curte..

11 characters .. and we still need to be introduced to .. 9 more support characters ... I'M DONE!

What a poor job at telling a story. It's so disconnected and uninteresting. Every episode we are thrown bunch of data and then some random characters keep appearing. It always takes me a while and a look at previous episode to even remember what the hell am watching.

As it goes it's episodic and interesting, it feels very unique. There was a adjustment period for that uniqueness that finally feels like it set in for me, I'm worried about it only being one-cour at this current pacing a bit..

9 episodes left - enough time to introduce even more characters. Wake me up when they will introduce the story. :D

"The battle to determine the mightiest of the mighty begins."
- well, nothing suggest it. Narrator talks about it but characters seem to deal with their everyday problems.

@MarineCorps1 La storia della Arcana Famiglia was a silly "tarot powered people in a gangster style family" that in the end turned into one CORNY CHEESY love triangle ... i still regret watching it ...

but YEAH! seems like it! it's good and all to build up the world, add taste, and showcase the story and whatnot.. our biggest problem IS TOO MANY CHARACTERS TO INTRODUCE + IT'S A 12 EPISODES SHOW! + WE WERE PROMISED A TOTAL ALL OUT BATTLE ROYAL

having lots of characters is up to the author ... [b]BUT EXPECTING US TO STAY WAITING AS YOUR HIGHNESS INTRODUCE TO US 19 CHARACTERS BETWEEN MAIN AND SUPPORT, AND THEN YOU START THE MAIN PLOT ??? mind you, we AREN'T CRITICIZING! as much as WE ARE WORRIED THAT THE PREMISE WON'T HAVE TIME TO SHOW OFF! ... or is this show going to pull another "Tekken the animation" where every single "battle" will only last lesser than 2 seconds??

pulling out another "microsoft power point slide show" like the promised neverland??

TL;DR: TOO FEW EPISODES IN THE FACE OF TOO MANY CHARACTERS and giving every character a background story and personality and standing, WON'T CUT IT, EITHER CHOOSE TO INTRODUCE THE CHARACTERS IN A SINGLE SEASON AND THAT'S IT, AND USE A SECOND SEASON FOR A BATTLE THAT WOULD LAST 12 EPISODES FOR 19 CHARACTERS .... or show us other means to solve this "anxious" problem ..
we aren't hating, we are worried!

too many anime originals are coming out as JOKES, no need for this one to also end up being a disappointment.
if the studio / show is trying to FORCE US to connect to every single character of the 19!!!!!! and fear for their good being ...
you want us to root for 19 at the same time and worry about them killing each other?? like ... there is no "baddy" here and everyone is a great character??? .... ummmm then ... there is no "conflict, no climax" and it's impossible to reach "a conclusion" for the story.. you just broke 2 of the essential elements in story writing..

More characters introduced, Karen and Dakai. Both are interesting and cool, specially Dakai. Liked Regnejee and Curte interactions, sweet stuff. Action was good again.

Enjoying this so far, specially as someone who loves animes with a large number of characters but with only 12 episodes I fear this season will be over with just introductions to the characters and world building. Need more episodes.

I appreciate the way they're delving into each character, their surroundings, and how they fit (or don't fit) into the world. I'm not sure how well recieved it will be in the long run by only giving them only 12 episodes for the first season, but we'll see.

Alright ngl I do like the world and lore of the show, but I think they need at least 24 episodes for this to really be done justice. At the pace we’re going now, we’ll only get all the characters introduced after like 8-9 episodes which only leaves a few episodes for the actual battle royale hinted at in the OP.

I don’t mind introducing the characters individually and showing their backstories, what makes them tick, their motivations etc etc. just wish it was given more time.. but it is what it is. Hopefully everything works out.

At least we got two introduced in this episode. Dakia’s mission to find out about the leak was insanely brutal. They’re not holding anything back with the action in this one. Heads chopped off, limbs flying etc. His half of the episode was a total contrast to Regnejee and Curte who were presented as this sweet opposites attract relationship born out of tragedy.

The one wyvern who ate a kid and then got beat to death in front of the entire brigade was such a wild scene. At least their duty to protect the people is given utmost priority.

Good episode, lot of brutal action, banger OST, speaking of which does anyone else hear Dune’s theme in the OST?? It sounds very similar.

Can’t wait for next ep

I really liked this episode personally. It did a better job adapting scenes from the source material than either of the first two.

That said, it’s definitely not for everyone. Despite all the bombastic action, Ishura is very much a slow burn, and there’s a lot to keep track of. It’ll probably be a couple more episodes before we get to the real meat of the first arc.

This show is slowly but surely losing my interest. We are getting so many side characters and from what I’ve saw from other people’s comments on here there are still 9 more supporting characters that need to be introduced. That means 9 more episodes of support characters getting an episode dedicated to them and there’s only 12 episodes…

I have no clue where this anime is going. I've given it 3 episodes. where each has seemed like a completely different show. Seems like there's still a lot more pieces to introduce to tie it all together. For a 12 episode anime with pacing like this, it sure doesn't seem like one that will get a second season so I'm not sure its worth the time investment when there is so many other banger anime this season. Dropped.

Setting up a bunch of decently cool characters just so we can watch them kill each other?âś…
Tsundere Wyvern âś…
Blue Wyvern with a.... shotgun & lightsaber? âś…
GoT like setting with anime like demon lord backdrop âś…
Gruesome âś…

Just overall pretty cool so far. I realize a lot hasn't happened yet and they're just introducing the world but I still enjoy it. I just hope there is enough anime left for some sick stuff to happen, as its only 12 episodes... But so far I'm happy with it

@maraviax ...bye then? What do you have to lose? You're most likely an Ootaku who watches endless anime. Its clear they're setting up the world and its characters, a la GoT.... Also there is no indication or even reason to think it will or wont get a second season. Kinda goofy.

@xXTensaZenXx what I find goofy is you trying to talk down to someone on an anime site for being an otaku. Where exactly do you think you are? As for what I have to lose, its my most valuable asset. Time. I rated the episode when asked and gave my feedback. Why does that bother you so much? I find the story disjointed in a manner that works against it in a 12 episode format. You’re right that they’re trying to world build ‘Ala GoT’, but the difference is that GoT did it well. They also had a much larger timeframe to build that world and capitalized on that. 10 x ~55min episodes would translate to roughly the same runtime as 24 ~22min episodes no? That’s probably what this should have been. How well do you think GoT would have worked with only those first 5 episodes?

Slow world building works well in manga, but not always anime. Especially ones that don't build up meaningful connections with characters or the story in the early episodes. So far each episode of this has focused on different people so not much of a chance for that. Nor has there really been any investment in the payoff at the end. That’s not usually a recipe for success. What’s the end goal and why should I care? Unknown. When you only have 12 episodes, you need to have a hook to keep viewers interested. From other commenters on here, it seems like I’m not the only one put off by the pacing of the storytelling.

I like how they lay out the field quite evenly, introducing the key characters as best as they can (i.e. world-building and all).
I just hope this will not end up like the "Reign of the 7 Spellblades" before. This also might get a surprise part 2 cour if they already planned for it.

Yeah this series definitely needs a 2nd cour/season so that there's time for a good main storyline once all of the characters are introduced.

This episode in particular introduced 2 totally different characters in Dakai and Regnejee, and some more possible side characters in the general lady Taren (I'm pretty sure the subs indicated it was a she after I thought it was a he) and the princess. And the next episode preview indicates more new characters lol.

Well, don't think I will continue watching this. If only the plot was evolved based on ep1 premise, with ancient golems, mysterious drifters, etc., but sadly it took a wired turn imo.

What I really did not like here is:
1. Political intrigues (especially forcing viewers to sympathize with Lithia and antagonize Aureatia);
2. OP characters (even 1 such character is barely tolerable, but here every 2nd one is op af);
3. Deus ex machina solutions (you're ordering to find some enemy spies? No problem, in the next scene all are revealed and killed, easy-peasy..)
4. Too many "main" storylines to follow (it is goddamn 12ep anime, you do not have enough screentime to fit all those stories into it and make it a good show).
5. No characters have enough time and development (at least so far) to follow and make emotional connection with (even after 3 eps I still simply do not care if all suddenly die).
6. We still do not have any "big plot"/goal of the story (what is the aim for all of this? 3 eps, 5 or 6 different short stories, no meaningful goal).

And so on..

I'm disappointed :/

I can't figure out if I like this enough to continue watching it. They're taking their time introducing all the key players (I guess), but it's only 12 episodes. Either it will be rushed and won't end satisfactorily or it just won't end. Neither outcome is optimal.

That being said those wyvern's are maybe a little too smart.

@FMmatron Exactly. I do like the introductions of the what I can only guess are the key players, but how long will it take before they start connecting all the dots. Either it will be extremely rushed which I doubt given the time they're taking or it will not finish. That makes me antsy because there is not guarantee of a season 2.

Ah so Regnejee voiced by Shikamaru va, no wonder feels familiar....

Another introduction time for the character that might get involved with the nearest conflict between two nation, and, competition.

Dakai the Magpie, and Regnejee the Wyvern leader. Both holds some interesting background check. While Dakai revealed as the visitor with such a nice sword play, same like the previous eccentric swordsman. Regnejee was the one that gets quite emotional through his background with that blind girl, Curte.

All in all, ed visual quite giving an insight to their respective opponent ahead. So, really looking forward to see the next. Cause its, an elf time! Yeah, Yuuki again with the elf role. Can't wait...

So these two newly introduced characters had to share an episode unlike the first two who each had their own episode. Ok then. Very clean- not. The real shame is, imho, all of the characters so far aren't that interesting. Maybe it's because she's the first one we met, but I'm personally most invested in the girl from the first episode; the one who watched her friend get torn apart and her city burn up in flames. Idk man, I love a tournament arc (or whatever it is that is coming), but if I don't really give af about any of the characters, this might be a drop for me. Maybe it is best to wait until the story actually gets going, and perhaps our patience (for us who are not exactly on board yet) will be rewarded.

actually nah screw it got too much anime to watch this season, can't be bothered with something I'm barely interested in. maybe I'll come back when it finishes airing and it turns out it actually did slap

I think they do a decent job with this anime. Kinda hard to adapt the novel as its super long and lore extensive but the point gets across. The fun thing about this story is that nothing seems tied until stuff happens and suddenly everything is important and makes sense tho i cpuld see how the slow buildup makes people drop it off early. I almost dropped it halfway through the first volume but the 2nd half is what made me stay and it only got better from this point. Currenly in top 3 light novels for me and one of my favorite stories. The author is absolutely nuts and is cookkng something big

@BetaMaleUltra but if they don't introduce all the characters, wouldn't you be lost when they appear in the future episodes? It's a story with no real protagonists after all. You just find a character you like and root for them as they clash with other equally important characters to the story. Yuno will appear later dont worry!! Btw there is also Kia in the next episode, you should at least watch ep 4 before you drop it, I think she is one of the most intersting characters.

@dragynfaerie It won't end. The first volume introduces only first 4 shuras, there are 12 other, before the tournament I assume(didn't get that far in the novel). But that's fairly certain a very long novel. Everything you see now is buildup, and ep 5-6 will begin with lots of action.

Well, don't think I will continue watching this. If only the plot was evolved based on ep1 premise, with ancient golems, mysterious drifters, etc., but sadly it took a wired turn imo.

What I really did not like here is:
1. Political intrigues (especially forcing viewers to sympathize with Lithia and antagonize Aureatia);
2. OP characters (even 1 such character is barely tolerable, but here every 2nd one is op af);

@nick_el_son
1) They just want you to see the point of view from Lithia's perspective and why they clash with Aureatia. You've seen characters like Shalk, Regnejee, Dakai on Lithia and Alus (and other character introduced in the next episode) that will be on Auretia's side. You as a viewer need to pick a side/characters you are gonna root for. That's the beauty of stories like this with no obvious protagonist.
2) But if there are like 50 OP characters, are they really OP? isnt someone OP when he can't be defeated by anyone? By that logic every important character in One piece is OP, cause regular villagers cant do anything to them.
3) You will see in future episodes
4) I mean its gonna be a long story. It's just 12 episodes for now, maybe there will be more in the future. Overlord started as an 13 episodes anime as well btw and it also had a lot of buildup.
5) They are briefly introduced, you'll see them later. Next episode is the last introduction episode.
6) The point is to see what drives every important character. The story is about finding strong individuals who will fight in the tournament for the title of hero. If you ever played Tekken, there are also many POVs that shows their motiviation to participating in the tournament.
