Ishura

After the demise of the demon king, the resulting power vacuum has broken the balance of the world. Eager to claim this power for themselves, self-proclaimed demon kings from various worlds assemble in the New Principality of Lithia to fight for it. Among them, master swordsman Soujirou Yagyuu seeks to take this coveted position for himself. Joined by Tooi Kagizume no Yuno, a young girl he saved from an army of golems that destroyed her city, Soujirou enters Lithia to battle his way to the title.

At the same time, the leaders of the Aureatia Kingdom seek to destabilize Lithia by launching bandits after the convoys of merchandise transiting through the principality. Enraged, Imashime of Taren, the founder of Lithia and defector from Aureatia, sends vicious thief Kasasagi no Dakai to investigate the origin of these attacks. With war on the brink of eruption, no one can predict what influence the contenders for the demon king's throne will have on the coming conflict.

This is barely an Isekai and that is a good thing!

Ishura is not as popular as it should be and that is a shame. While classified as an Isekai it barely resembles modern Isekai titles.
The synopsis of the show are misleading and can catch someone off guard.

Ishura's main theme is how the small and weak feel in a world dominated by strong and ruthless beings. While it does not go very deep into this topic, it is still a good theme to work with.
Story is not bad and actually interesting, when the viewer understand what the shows is really about. What confuses ... people is the fact we have no MC we follow. Every episode has different people we are introduced to. This makes you feel less invested in the characters but it allows us to see World of Ishura in different angles.

World Building is fantastic and quite underrated. Sure the usage of many different and hard to memorize names can be difficult. However the World and how the different parties have stakes in the story is interesting to follow.

Animation and Artstyle are amazing. Fluid animation, especially in fights pared with bloody action make Ishura fun to watch for action lovers.

This show is for everyone who want to watch something with great action, interesting characters and a good world building.

Mixed Feelings

Starting off, you are thrown into action and for any anime that I'm interested in, that's not a bad way to start. It introduces you to an OP character that gets your likes right away. That's how I felt about Ishura during the first episode. The animation is very enjoyable and definitely is a plus.

I didn't like the vagueness to exactly what was going on. You know that the demon king, whoever he/she was, is dead and now the Kingdoms are vying for power. It's gets a bit too political. Quite a few names and places are mentioned even though you have no idea what ... or who they are. Mind you, this only like the first few episodes so it can overwhelming.

The layout of Season 1 of Ishura just moves you from episode to episode introducing you to "Inshura" characters that are considered to be some of the strongest characters of this current time. Thise theme continues until around the last 2-3 episodes and thats when the action part of the series picks up....only for it to end very underwhelming.

Each "Inshura" that we are introduced to is supposed to be unique, strong, and more powerful than the average person. When fights take place they either end very quickly or there isn't much choreography to the fight. So you anticipate these huge showdows and it never happens. For as much as they brag on how powerful they are, it is only showed through dialogue.

The plot itself is interesting but it doesn't go beyond figuring out who killed the demon king and why. All for it to simply sum up to a few kingdoms attempting to take over the other by amassing power.

I don't really write reviews nor do I care to write a good one for this so just have my VERY informal and short list of thoughts here:

1. No real story, so many things happening at once. You aren't given a reason to care for either side, though imo Taren seems to be the bad guy in this scenario (haven't read the series so anime only here).
2. No good characters. With all the different skills and powers you'd think they'd have amazing characters or at least decent ones but these guys are so forgettable. Also that Yuno girl needs to suck it the fuck up. ... Boohoo your friend and everyone died. That's been happening in your world for a while, don't go blaming random people. It's your fault you're a weak baby who can't defend herself. Should have studied magic more. Couldn't even get me to give a shit between the possible romance between a wyvern and a human because they were so boring. And of course they had to make the spider girl naked in the spider mech...
3. WILL THE NARRATOR PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP! I am tired of him constantly narrating 24/7 for absolutely no reason. This is not even a good anime, it doesn't need a narrator at all.

Overall, very disappointed. I knew this would be a mid series but I didn't think it'd be that boring. I don't recomment watching this even if you're curious about the designs like I was for Elea
