| Probably late to the party on this but I just noticed in your profile section there is Statistics option to the left. I've not scored every anime I've seen (I added a load of anime in one sitting and never considered marking it at the time) But it seems from what I have I'm fairly generous in my scoring. Definitely 8's and quite a few 7's I don't force myself to watch anime I don't like or what I don't think I like unless I'm willing to try so my lower scores are fewer. Does make me think I should be a little harsher in my ratings. |

| I didn't even notice that, it's really cool~I really like the genre graph with the statistics, looks really nice! Also I quite like the "They hated it, I enjoyed it/They loved it, I didn't" section. And I know exactly how my scores graph look because I update it from malgraph once in a while. |

| I'm the same. I can't rate something that i watch 10 years ago... And i can't rate an anime that i only watched 2-5 episodes even if i didn't like it. ( imo it would not be fair , you can't really rate something that you know 20% of the content ) And like you i do not force myself to watch something i don't like. So i dropped it. Simple as that. I have 60+ that i dropped. 80% of my dropped list animes aren't rated. So my mean score is : 8.36. Do not care about others. Please yourself and give 10 if you really find full enjoyment on a show. or because you think it really deserves a 10. And basically i have my own rate. with 0.5 put in there. ( 7.5, 8.5, 9.5 ) |

| I actually haven't noticed this feature before, thanks for making a forum thread about it. I would have liked to see more manga statistics but I have a harder time assigning scores to manga than anime for some reason. |

| Looking at my statistics I definitely have a higher average score than most people but I think that's because I mainly watch things that I figure I will enjoy. Also I watch things people have recommended me so whatever it is usually fits my taste if they've seen what I like. |
The statistics update was announced today, so you're not late at all. Fairly interesting but not what I want the most: I'd gladly pay to become a MAL Supporter if I could make a custom advanced search like "recalculate MAL top 100 after considering only the votes of those who rated [insert one or more of my favorite anime] above their own mean, or above another threshold". Basically the ultimate recommendation system. |
| It's not really that you're generous it's that you mainly will watch shows you think you will like so it creates a self created bias where you already expect to like something. MALs entire average is more like 7 for everything by everyone. I already knew i was pretty hesitant to score things with a 9 or 10 i am working on not holding myself back. |

| Ever since I try to give meaning of what each score from 1-10 is to me, my scores have become more spread out. It's still leaning towards the higher score (7s and 6s) though because I also only watch shows I like now. I used to be more of a completionist in the past, but I was also more easily pleased. I also don't always score anime I drop, which are usually the ones that I don't enjoy watching. The stats do kind of makes me want to at least score those ones I dropped lol but yeah don't feel pressured because of numbers.. just do what makes sense for you. |

| The way they put it, with the days spent on anime with each score encourages me to watch more shows that I would truly enjoy, instead of those I'd rate lower than 7. So if your scores are mostly higher, I think it's a good thing. |

| Oh actually nice update for once. Looks like I have scored mostly 5, then 6 and 4. I have quite sparingly scored 10s and 1s. Code Lyoko was pretty fun children show tho. Even if you can see lack of funds regarding animation the plot hooks young minds. |

The true meaning of enjoying something because it's bad is when someone is brainwashed to accept a societal criteria for judging something that's not their own, or they lack the articulation to expound on why they enjoy something individually, so they just substitute popular opinion as their own while giving themselves a lazy out by saying they enjoy it despite it being "bad". In fact, there is no objective criteria for quality. |

That's having a blast with how badly those are made and how nonsensical their dialogues and plots are. I can't think out a better demonstration of how you can enjoying a bad entertainment product. And as personal anime example I can give you Human Bug Daigaku: crude designs, non existing animation and nonsensical plot. I think it's pretty bad, but still I had great fun with it.
