| NO GODDAMN RE-CAPS THIS EPISODE after the opening?! Gosh damn, Luffy was defeated :"(, hearing heartbeat, a unique SFX I must say than the one you hear from Monet's heart beat on punk hazard. Surprised to hear a narrator announcing victory for a villain. Love the Sakura effects too. Without surprise Kaido is mad at CP0 for ruining his fight, and was going to kill him anyway, knowing how he killed the old lady from before who had interrupted his fight between Oden. But of course it was too good to be true, from no-recaps, when we get a re-cap later on in this episode. The CGI Kaido's cape is the most unappealing, they re-used the same shot 3 times with still image crowds. And especially the fact that from last episode, they went out with the quality. I love my clean and pure 100% hybrid free Yamato <3. Yamato clearly saved this episode WOAH?! WHat is that DRUM at the end?! Why's Luffy all smokey? Why did his hair turn some kind of fluff?! WHAT?! Alright scratch everything I said about the quality, pretty much the last 3 minutes, Yamato's speech with Momonosuke, and the first few minutes of the episode were great. |

| Holy shit here we go, from here on out, One Piece will show why it's regarded as one of the best stories not only in animanga but of all time. Following last episode, Luffy collapses in defeat after enduring Kaidou's decisive blow, leaving Momonosuke and Law to observe that his "voice" seems to have vanished.. After the attack on Guernica, Kaidou strides into the Skull Dome. Speaking of Kaidou, holy shit it took me for it to sink in that the narrator finally after 156 episodes Kaidou has "won". Despite the alliance's belief that Luffy may have perished, they remain resolute, ready to fight until their very last breath. Kaidou issues a demand for Momonosuke to confront him, intending to deal a fatal blow to the young heir and thereby bring an official end to the conflict. At first, Momonosuke contemplates surrender, but Yamato persuades him to stand defiant and confront death alongside them. That's when, out of the blue, Zunesha communicates with Momonosuke, revealing that it can hear the "Drums of Liberation" after 800 long years. In an astonishing proclamation, Zunesha announces the return of Joy Boy. As this happens, a peculiar phenomenon unfolds – Luffy begins to smile, and steam emanates from his mouth, while an enigmatic substance starts to envelop him, its nature unknown to all witnessing the spectacle. Chills, actual chills, The Drums of Liberation gave me actual chills. August 6th can't come any sooner. This is Luffy's Peak.  |

| Lots of CGI Kaido in this episode, but I assume that's because they're saving themselves for what's to come THE DRUMS OF LIBERATION! It's even cooler here than I thought it would be! The hype is at immeasurable levels !!! |

| You can say what you want about Kaido, but he is looking for nothing more than a tough and particularly fair fight in which he is pushed to his absolute limits. After "defeating" Luffy, his expression showed anger, disappointment and also a kind of panic as this ending was not what he had hoped for from this intense fight. Even if someone like Kaido announces that Luffy is dead, I still wouldn't believe it for a second. Nevertheless, this news obviously hit Nami the hardest. She has experienced so many things and the most difficult situations with Luffy and so far he has always kept his word. So why should it be any different here? Luckily Marco was able to prevent the worst, because it is unlikely that Nami would have otherwise survived the Blash Breath. Thank god Yamato was with Momo. Without her, Momo would probably have really surrendered. Apparently Momo has forgotten how important this fight is, how many people have suffered or even lost their lives in the last 20 years. Becoming a slave again is in no way an option. Either they defeat Kaido or they die. Well said, Yamato! The ending pretty much blew me away. We've never had such a tremendous reaction from Zunesha before, not to mention the beat of the Drums of Liberation had my head bopping. That white smoke emanating from Luffy's body, Zunesha's comment that Joyboy has returned, then seeing Luffy's hair turn strangely white and his huge grin on his face make me think his devil fruit may have really awakened. Holy moly, I can't put into words how excited I am for the next episode and if I was right in my theory about Luffy. Feels fucking great to be a One Piece fan. Btw, did anyone else notice this cartoonish jump sound at the very end of the TO BE CONTINUED screen? |

| So much CGI Kaido, but Kaido's speech giving more despair to the remaining survivors. Thank goodness Marco saved Nami from being obliterated by Kaido's Blast Breath. Also that CP0 guy must have already been brutally slaughtered by Kaido as nothing has been heard about him ever again. While the fights aren't particularly impressive in this episode, they've been saving up the hype for the last minutes of this episode. Gave me chills listening to the DRUMS OF LIBERATION as well as Zunesha proclaiming that after 800 long years, Joyboy....HAS RETURNED! Luffy's smile at the end though! THAT SMILE! I can't contain my excitement anymore for what's to come, and watching that preview had me hyped to the max while also tearing up because of what I saw! ;_; One more week of waiting to finally witness the miracle! |

the drums of libaeration gave me chills!!! the hype is real, gonna be restless this whole week. my favorite setup so far. love the determination displayed by those left behind, especially nami. hayami saori freakin killed with yamato this episode.  i can't believe it, took over a year but we're finally here! joyboy has returned! |

| So, I know manga readers are going to be a bit upset about the quality of this episode but let’s set that aside for now and focus on the ending which is what people really were waiting for. TOEI is saving there budget clearly for the next 4-5 episodes anyways, so some sacrifices have to be made in order to give us PEAK!! So, it’s finally happened. At long last, the secret has been revealed and luffy is undergoing some sort of metamorphoses which seems to imply him being Joyboy. Now without any context of future story lines, there are some interesting things to point out in this episode if you pay attention. The smile is not indicative of luffy's normal smile, which seems to suggest that something else is causing this rare occurrence, probably most notably resembles the will of D. Also, a hard pill to swallow here, but Luffy did basically die here. His heart actually stopped. It’s probably more equivalent to cardiac arrest, but if it wasn't for this unknown phenomenon that is happening within luffy, he seriously would have been truly dead. This is by far the closest this man has ever come to actual death in the series. Now history will be made next week and I am not exaggerating when I say this is probably one of the greatest moments in the entire series coming up. |
