Don't worry, nobody expects from some child that calls himself chainsawbutcher to even understand the point of the show.

Bruh that was so good. Thorfinn's character arc is so incredible. His sort of speech to Einar about never harming another person again is quite something. I'm hopeful that Thorfinn will stay true to his claims, but I am concerned with this being Vinland Saga that something will force his hand. But I suppose it could be in defense, like how Thors defended his son on that boat using his bare hands.

This is illegal! They have no right to elevate the source material this much! Outstanding episode!

The episode flew by and it was so beautiful even during its depiction of hell.

Finally, Thorfinn's "battle" of becoming a "true warrior" is starting. He cannot escape from his sins but it's time though to atone for all those souls he took away and reborn anew.

And his way of achieving that is becoming a pacifist and resorting to violence only as a "last resort" something that he would also do everything to avoid any cost.

Today is Holi in India.

It's a festival of color but it's

“also is seen as a new beginning where people can release all their inhibitions and start fresh”

Just like Thorfinn did in this episode a new beginning for him (just a coincidence I know)

Watching this episode tonight feels like a totally different emotion I have waited for years (nearly 4 years)

To witness this chapter in anime.

Mappà studio tonight have Earned my love today.

I will always remember this episode and how good this was.
I loved it 10/10

Happy holi to my fellow Indians.

Askeladd still giving him a hand even in the "afterlife". Oh man, it seems like this is the first big step in Thorfin's character to become a true warrior.

It's my Birthday and its 2 AM and the first thing i did was wastch Vinland Saga, it was a good decision. Despite all the things he has done in the past, despite all the people he has killed in the past he needs to be a better person, taking that past along with him. Thorfinn finally understanding the message that he has no enemies and takes an oath to never hurt people again. This episode was truly a emotional ride, the episode starting with Thorfinn in Vinland( i think)and thinking that everything was a dream but it was actually not and his father, Thors confronts him about what he has done and all the people he has killed, that power which Thorfinn had was not to kill people, it was to protect himself. Thorfinn seeing Askeladd and all the people he has killed he regrets and feels guilty and cries. In the end he moves on trying to be better and not fighting people. This episode meant a lot for Thorfinn and for me. All the mistakes i have done in the past and also many things i feel that i have not achieved in my life, i keep thinking about this but what i need to do is accept my past and take my past along with me and try to be a better person. I LOVE VINLAND SAGA!! and hey happy birthday to me.

best anime episode ever seen. Tbh i always loved the leekboy ep from Gantz Original, but this one, damn. It hit's me from so many different angles with so much strength and accuracy. It's inspiring, creative, sad, but motivating, just overwhelmingly emotional. Let me say and end it like this: the "emotional effort" which the creators of this story, the manga and the anime itself, have put into this is peak to me, I'm in complete awe for them, I bow to you. <3 (gotta edit: the drawings, i forgot, they are amazing. The expressions, the closeups sometimes, the colours... my fav part is the way ur DRAWN eyes can submit emotions. Pure art)

I remember reading chapters 70-71 for the first time during a very stressful year in my final year of high school. These chapters really saved me from giving up. To finally see these chapters animated with this level of skill has been a dream come true. I actually cried when Askeladd gave Thorfinn the motivation to "fight his true battle".

I hope that THORFINN keep THORS as his Ideal, but being realistic as ASKELADD.

Finally a half decent episode 9 episodes in!

Though now Im concerned about Thorfinn beeing a pacifist wimp for the rest of the story. Pacifism does not work. It never has. Some people are your enemies. Thats just how it is.

Awesome episode. We finally came back to Thors lesson: "A true warrior doesn't need a sword".  Each episodes are so well done they seem to end in a few seconds. I just wish there would less whining about the lack of action. "Hurr Durr my dopamine fed bird brain cannot enjoy the story if I am not instantly satisfied with violence."

ASKELADD!!!!!
Quality visuals and character through and through. The addition of Einar to the scene where Thors confronts Thorfinn in the nightmare is interesting. With Thorfinn not remembering when and where he killed is victims, it's almost as if he's using Einar's face to fill in for the forgotten ones since Einar's the civilian farmer from England he knows the most in the present day.

The show is basically trying to say that we create our own enemies, the world doesn't create enemies for us. If thorfinn decides he doesn't want any enemies than he doesn't have any. He has the freedom to decide and can choose to handle conflicts without feeling that it is necessary to kill the opposition.

Always wanted the MC of a show that had outstanding battles to become a pacifist. This is, so far, one of the most boring seasons I've seen. The content (in my opinion) should have been 3 episodes, not 9.

It's nice to have a theme of atonement in animes. This episode alone shows how much Thorfinn has grown throughout the years, especially his mindset. It's super realistic and definitely good character development! Also loved the animation of his dream, very well done.

Probably the best episode up to date. It was genuinely a masterpiece.
The character development is incredible, and the message is beautiful. Thorfinn is on his way to becoming a real warrior, just like his father.
Absolutely incredible!

I'm going to start bulk reading the manga now, I'm out of patience with this.

The dream sequence was nice, seeing askaladd and thors was fun. But even with all that and Thorfinn suddenly becoming a pacificst. Did the plot move foreward AT ALL??  I'm not sure that it did.

Thats the main problem ive been having with S2 of Vinland here. The absolute glacial pace of things. I'm sure the adapated material is good according to manga readers, but I feel like there's a total lack of conflict and/or urgency. I really like to have my works of fiction have a sense of purpose, (probably why I don't have a particular fondness for SoL genre) and this season has really lacked it beyond the general goal of them farming enough to win their freedom? Even that premise alone seems to show how damn slow the plot will be moving forward.

I'm not sure I like the turn of Throfinn becoming a complete pacificst. I was hoping hed find some sort of reasoning/goal and have his violence towards others just focused on that instead of just blind revenge for Askladd killing Thors. Maybe we'll still get elements of that but I truely don't want to watch him become a pushover limp noodle that lets the ACTUAL vikings warriors walk all over him.

Probably the most iconic thing about season 1 was how bad ass the teenage Throfin was. Maybe shallow in character and purpose until the end but at the very least  you can admit its a lot more fun to watch.

this was so unbelievably well done, askelaad teaching thorfinn and him reconciling his past, just absolutely beautiful. i don't like the whole "i won't hurt anyone anymore" because then how can you protect anyone or yourself? just maybe lay off the wanton violence? it's a nice sentiment but not really practical.

This episode is truly what Vinland Saga is all about. The regrets and trauma one can get from being in war are very strongly depicted here. Also, it is nice seeing Thorfinn moving on from violence and vowing to never hurt someone again.
