Looks like this case got more complicated with the involvement of an organization and Ranpo taking hostage...

I have to admit, this was not just a thrillnig episode but also an emotional one. They really captured Ranpo's personality a lot from this beyond just his detective role

Good that the flashback arc is now done, and from the next episode we back in the present times with the main gang. The crying part was cringe, but the slap was funny.

amazing episode
I've read the manga but never got around to read the LN stories and it was such a nice addition to the main story, it fits in perfectly with the upcoming arc

that police officer looked too much like Fyodor to not be involved with the rats, but Natsume-sensei is still a cat lol

It's pretty cool to know how the Detective Agency came about, by this flashback with Fukuzawa and Ranpo, two characters I wanted to know more about. It seemed that the whole theatre plot was bigger than expected, but Ranpo figured it all out, but Fukuzawa slapped him while giving him a bit of a lesson - not to flaunt your gifts and be reckless. Also glad we got to see Odasaku again, and the guy with cane was Natsume, the author all along?

Back to present time we go next episode...

I actually think part of his power makes him so intelligent but who knows because its said he's able to 'see through all kinds of things' but what does that really mean

I was skeptic at first, but I ended liking this arc despite not being a manga one. Made me like Fukuzawa more and his dad-son relationship with Rampo was endearing. Plus, since this is basically the origin of the Armed Detective Agency it doesn't feels so out of place as Chuuya's arc last season.

So we got a glimpse of the legendary hero Fukuchi Ouchi, and more importantly how the Agency was founded. Gotta say, I didn't really care much about the mystery, but the relationship between Fukuzawa and Ranpo was the highlight of the arc. Also it's not even a surprise that Fyodor is connected to this incident. Whenever there's trouble he's not too far behind.

Now that this arc is done we can finally get back to the present next episode.

Another flashback arc done right.

If it wasn't for Fukuzawa arriving just at the right time, I bet Ranpo's head would've been blown to smithereens. Though him telling even this was part of his plan was just so like himself lol.

Anyways that slap did deepen the bond and as they themselves mentioned was the start of everything.. the establishment of detective agency. Back to the present from next week. Can't wait.

I liked this flashback arc, seeing more Fukuzawa and Ranpo is definitely a plus, and we even got to see how the agency was formed. Now that the flashback has been wrapped up, we head back to the present next episode, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that story continues.

So that was Natsume Soseki, he purposedly let himself be captured so that Ranpo would solve the mystery, damn. It's back to present, can't wait to see Dazai.

Man this flashback arc was so fire. Really didn’t care for Ranpo that much before, I have a whole new appreciation for his character now. Cool to see Fyodor as well.

Can’t wait to be back to the present next week and see Dazai and the gang tho. Been so long.

Ranpo saying that the that the cityscape looks different. Half of this arc was black & white, or maybe Ranpo just really needed those glasses, but probably is the basic "my life changed, now I see thing different". I wish was the self-conscious joke.

I loved this arc! I would like to know how the rest of them joined the Agency (meaning Kunikida and the others, we only know of Dazai and Atsushi and Ranpo now) Also, Hiroshi Kamiya is the best

As ever Rampo is fast on the uptake. But him leaving a clue for his reluctant partner while being led to the next scene was quite well prepared of him. Figures that Rampo would end up meeting a group of would be revolutionlists. With the level of threat posed by the group changing the facilities menu is a small prize to pay for such valuble info. The seven second assult sure was damm entertaining. For all his skill though Rampo is still very much a child so it was interesting to see him get reminded of this by the boss.

So V is actually the roman 5. I guess it refers to that Decay of Angel organization from the trailer which is composed of 5 members: Fyodor, that white-dressed guy from trailer and 3 more.
And their objective is the eradication of Gift users. Fyodor did mention he had such a plan in the movie or S3 I think.
And they're also looking for that book which grants whatever is written in it. That's why Fyodor formed a temporary alliance with the Guild and Order of the Clock Tower to improve the chances of getting it. But then Francis went on with his own plan. I don't know what Atsushi has to do with the book but hopefully we get an explanation this season.
It makes so much sense now

maybe I'm wrong but didn't Francis tell Atsushi when they were on Moby Dick that he needed him to find the book because he/his ability is like a beacon or smtn? And later Shibusawa tried to extract the ability from him in the movie probably for the same reason cus he was controlled by Fyodor
Thats what I tought his role was this whole time lol but maybe I misunderstood

You're right about Francis saying that he needs Atsushi's ability. I'm just curious as why his ability is needed? Just doesn't seem right to me to connect it with the book. But idk I'll wait and see

We got to see how the Detective Agency got born from the ground up, which was nice to see. The fighting scenes were cool as well, I loved how Ranpo knew that Fukuzawa was coming to save him.

The next episode we are back to the present, as well as the other characters, interesting to see how the story will continue.
