When a female character starts losing a fight/getting beat up by the villain, do you tend to feel worse for them then you would a male character?

A capable female fighter like in Naruto or Dragon Ball tries to fight the main villain and starts getting beat up, do you feel more sympathy for them then you would a male character in the same scenario?

Just for example, Mai Valentine when she's losing to Marik, i felt worse for her then i did when Joey suffered the same fate. Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury, one of the movies, she fought against a villain and ended up taken hostage.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Equal but it depends on context as well

If she's a fighter, then no. However, it depends on whether it's a fight or a massacre, I guess.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Pretty sure I feel equal sympathy for either gender, though like Coolness0228 stated it does depend a bit on context. Because I watched a ton of girl MC shows for most of my life, I had no idea just how much sympathy I'd feel for a boy MC getting beat up until I saw Yugi Muto getting beat up in nearly every episode of Toei's anime (aka "Season 0"). Goodness... poor boy really didn't deserve ANY of that...

I feel bad for anyone equally being attacked and depends on context really and if its self defense sure thats understandable but if its sadism like school days type shit then yeah thats a big fucking yikes from me dawg.

I couldn't care less about boys, they are boys so they are used to fighting, just man up but when I see any girl fighting I feel the need to go over the screen and help her and I am very emotional when I see a girl injured
Yes I have more sympathy for the girls

I think I do have a sort of inherent aversion to seeing women beat up but when you frame it in terms of sympathy I think I might actually have more sympathy for the men. It's a complicated question for sure. As others have mentioned though, it heavily depends on the character, if it's a bitch (e.g. that maniac tag collector from overlord) getting beat up I bust out the popcorn, it's mostly the good girls getting wrecked that hurts my soul.

I voted: More sympathy for the females.

Not because I think they deserve it, but because male characters look more pathetic when they get beaten up, so I don't feel any sympathy for the guys.

I feel exactly the same, I just hate it when girls get injured (by guys), far more so in an unfair fight

Gender equality baby, if she deserve it, I don't feel anything but you get what you deserve for xyz reason.

If not I think but wsit a minute, aren't you suppose to be strong, independent and I don't need no man type of woman? So deal with it.

Why should I, there is no logical reason for that.
My sympathy with the characters, who are getting hurt, depends more on how much I like them.

Well, you didn't disclose whether or not the gender of the character affects how much you like them.

honestly?

depends on the character.

the more innocents or weak they are, the more bad People normally feel.

and those two traits are on females more often than males.

but if we ignore the amount of tropes stuck to each gender. the answer would be both equally for almost everyone.

Equal of course.

What I very much dislike is when she's failing and it's only when a male character comes in that the fight is won. RARELY happens the other way around.

Nope. Probably because people around me being mean to me even tho I'm a real human being. Now that I don't care about human, I totally cannot feel bad for anime characters.

Gender equality, whether I feel sympathy for them or not entirely depends on their personality and the situation.

Depends on how much i actually like the character in question, not really on their gender.

Of course i will feel more sympathy the more i love the character, gender doesn't have anything to do with that.

It doesn't matter if it's a chick getting beat up or a dude. I look at them as equals if they're leading the show. Same in real life. Any woman who can stand her ground with and like a man is alright with me. No special treatment. If I feel bad for a person I feel bad for the person. Only thing different is I'd want a heroes reward if I assisted the woman and not from the guy. 😆
