A television anime adaptation of the ATRI: My Dear Moments visual novel was announced at the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event on Saturday. Production company Aniplex simultaneously opened an official website, revealing the main staff, a teaser visual (pictured) and teaser promo.
Makoto Katou (Yagate Kimi ni Naru) is directing the anime at animation studio TROYCA. Jukki Hanada (Sora yori mo Tooi Basho) is in charge of the series composition.
Developed by Frontwing and Makura, Aniplex.EXE published a demo version of the game in May 2020 before releasing the full version for Windows the following month in Japanese, English, simplified Chinese, and traditional Chinese simultaneously. iMel Inc. ported the game for smartphones and Nintendo Switch in December 2021.
CloverWorks produced a promotional video celebrating the game's full release in June 2020. Voice actress Hikaru Akao (Comic Girls) starred in the promo as Atri.
Synopsis
In the near future, a sudden and unexplained sea rise has left much of human civilization underwater. Ikaruga Natsuki, a boy who lost his mother and his leg in an accident some years earlier, returns disillusioned from a harsh life in the big city to find his old countryside home half-swallowed by the sea. Left without a family, all he has to his name is the ship and submarine left to him by his oceanologist grandmother, and her debts.
His only hope to restore the dreams for the future that he has lost is to take up an opportunity presented to him by the suspicious debt collector Catherine. They set sail to search the sunken ruins of his grandmother's laboratory in order to find a treasure rumor says she left there. But what they find is not riches or jewels; it is a strange girl lying asleep in a coffin at the bottom of the sea. Atri.
Atri is a robot, but her appearance and her wealth of emotions would fool anyone into thinking she's a living, breathing human being. In gratitude for being salvaged, she makes a declaration to Natsuki: "I want to fulfill my master's final order. Until I do, I'll be your leg!"
In a little town slowly being enveloped by the ocean, an unforgettable summer is about to begin for this boy and this mysterious robot girl... (Source: Aniplex.EXE, edited)
HOLY!!! i wasn't expecting this!! Nice! I can finally put Atri in my favs, haha!
Praying for a very good adaptation. idk how hard the story gonna hit for me this time round, but it should go well in animation considering TROYCA and Aniplex backing. anyway, this is only a few dozen hrs of reading, give or take, so 12-16 eps is plenty
oh yeah, and we're finally gonna get a seiyuu for the MC. hope they choose right, and also hoping they keep the same seiyuu for the anime
I'm happy Atri getting an anime adaptation but I don't want to go through that tear jerking moments again. Just listening the Ost again reminds me of those and already wanted to cry
As someone that doesn't really read manga, this will be the first time I get to experience the "I hope they don't butcher the source material" feeling. What a time to be alive.
