| Re-watching this and still got startled there despite knowing that it'd come in this very episode. But once Mami-san was going along gleefully, I was sure it was just a matter of time. Horrifying and heartbreaking, as ever. ;-; Homura-chan taking care of the witch in style then was really pleasing to see. About time to get started on the real journey now! |

| Finally we have the true ED. Not gonna lie, "Magia" is great but the visuals are quite shitty. Honestly, seeing Mami letting her guard down that way was quite disappointing. I already knew she dies but I didn't think it would be due to a "rookie's mistake". Especially considering how cool and experienced she was depicted as Mahou Shoujo until now. Anyways, leaving that aside, it was still a good episode overall. |

| The first time I tried out this show, I only watched one episode. I was new to anime and the shaft style of animation was just a bit too much for me, but now I love the animation, and I love this story. I always appreciate when the danger that everyone talks about ends up being real, instead of just and artificial attempt to heighten the tension. RIP Mami; know that your sacrifice in the name of the story will not be in vain. Also, does anyone know the name of violin song that played when Miki visited the sick kid? I recognize the tune, but don't know the name. |

| Well shit. I feel like this series could have pushed it to being rated R instead of PG-13 (I know the ratings on MAL aren't exact). I feel like we'd better served being just as scared as those poor girls. Still, fear of the unknown is compelling. That title for the next episode gives a pretty solid idea of what Madoka's wish might be. |

| While I think I was supposed to be sad for Mami's departure, I really can't help but feel nothing due to the holy shit-number of death flags she raised during the first half Homura indeed have good intentions by trying to shield the dark side of magical girls to the new duo but letting them witness the horrifying scene actually seems to be the best way to teach em the reality of the situation Will they break or will they soldier on? That's what I'm curious to see |
| Welp, Mami’s gone. Great fight scene and seeing Homura just kill the witch easily. I think I have an idea what Madoka’s going to wish for. |

| i couldn’t contain my excitement when the episode began with rachmaninoff. vocalise is such a beautiful piece, and as a musician i’m kind of inclined to like an anime if they make use of a piece of classical music that i really like! |

Though I had some bad feelings ever since the first episode, I was certainly not expecting some things like: At present, I have no hypothesis about what's going on or what will happen going forward, but I don't mind! I look forward to see how this story unfolds! I actually had difficulties in refraining from the next episode 😅! |

He doesn't open his mouth to speak, his doesn't blink his eyes, that's uber creepy Okay, he blinked once at the end of the episode, still a creepy thing though, also RIP Mami, didn't really care for you, but getting your head eaten because you overestimated your skills and ignored a potential help were a bad choice. |
| This was the episode that got me addicted to the show. It wasn't because of Mami's death, but when Madoka and Mami started to bond (weirdly enough). This is why when Mami was killed, I was truly shocked as I wanted to see how their relationship would develop. It still amazes me how they were able to flesh out Mami in such a short time period. Love the way the ED changed (previously it was Mata Ashita - sung by Madoka's VA - and now it's Magia; Yuki Kajiura at her finest) |

This is to say the plot hasn't really progressed since episode 1. Like I said I never watched sailor moon as a kid because I'm a pretty masculine dude who grew up watching DBZ and bleach so this magic girl type of stuff wasn't up my ally. Maybe if it was this would have been a more intense moment, but overall the anime just really hasn't surprised me. |

| 4/5 Since I already knew this anime was a de-construction of the magic genre and generally dark, I wasn't astounded by the death but more like intrigued. I've put off this anime from my watch list for a long time and I'm glad to be able to enjoy something fresh and less convoluted story structure which we rarely get these days |

| Zoiiinks man I suppose her moment with madoka really raised the death flag but I didn't realise it till it happened so fast and uncaring, and mr Qyube of course not minding it much and pushing the girls to get to becomin magical girls hmm pretty dangerous line to go into, makes me think of all the random ugly bad things and how you wont always be successful fighting them |
