It's wholesome, a funny spy parody, and it got these dynamics of two likeable, adult characters suddenly caring for a child.
And the child is well... a cute child.

Also, have I already said that it got adult main characters? In a modern anime? ADULT main characters!? Jeez, yes!

I can't really comment, as I've never seen it, but I was considering giving it a try, but I fear that it might have too much violence in it. If someone is watching it, I wouldn't mind them letting me know what it's like.

Pal, it's a pure comedy anime. ^^'

Yes, but I don't like the character designs, so I'll avoid it anyway.

Ah well understandable, I guess you just like the 70s and 80s styles the most.

It's good, one of the best shows this season. It has lots of things I enjoy in anime, action comedy, espionage, etc.

- The cars (most of those from East Germany) are more or less accurate for the supposed alternative historical period.
- I like the stylistics.
- At episode 4 they are out of good jokes.
- As always Saori Hayami's voice is sexy.

I knew it, as soon as I saw it i knew it.... The scenery is very much like Germany in the late 60s 70s

I haven't been to Germany so I can't confirm it but in the 70s and the 80s in my Eastern European country (which is Bulgaria) we had a lot of those cars shown in the anime: GAZ Chaika (a luxury car reserved only for VIPs), Wartburg (they show us two models here but I think the second one is from the 80s, the 60s model looks almost the same but with different grid, research error I guess), Trabant and the microbus Barkas B 1000 (seen in the beginning of episode 3).
Also we had the Volkswagen Microbus seen in episode 2 but mind you all the western made vehicles were second hand and at least 20 years old.

Some potential anachronisms:
- The peanuts package. If not freshly baked those came in cellophane bags or cans. My guess is East Germany didn't had tin-foil peanuts packages at this period.
- The colour TV. East Germany didn't have this till 1969 and this story supposedly is taking place in the mid of the 60s.

I like how you can describe what you have seen... even though English isn't your first language.. i can only admire this description...
I compared some of the vehicles and architecture from the film Munich and it looked similar.. plus I've lots of 70s Germany footage from 74 world cup ..and indeed it's similar but there's some differences as well..they tried to mix some morden techs and gadgets in it as it's spy anime

The first two episodes were ok, 7/10. Improved more on the last two. Personally I think the current score is way too high, but it is not a bad anime.

@ryo-san
Yeah after all it is still fiction so it's not striving for perfect realism (and doesn't have to) ^^
Keep in mind though that Germany was split into two countries during the Cold War, with East Germany being part of the Soviet Union like most of Eastern Europe, while Munich was part of West Germany (despite it's physical location in the East, lol). Available technology, brands and products and to some degree even culture differed a lot between both countries, so East Germany would have had more in common with Bulgaria than West Germany at the time.

Spy tech may go full James Bond, but you can't have regular tech like colour TV: receivers and transmissions...I mean it's alternative history show, so you totally can, but it's a bit anachronistic for people like me.

Naaah, you got that wrong.
East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia ect. (including my country) weren't part of the USSR, we only were part of their sphere of influence.
On the other hand countries like Lithuania and Latvia were part of the Soviet Union.

On paper, sure. Factually they were entirely dependent and pretty much integrated in any definition of the word, be it politically, economically or in a military sense 🀷‍♀️
But yeah, sorry. I'm not super knowledgeable about English names for historical political constructs, so I just used the only one I knew, thinking it would work interchangably. It doesn't, and that's on me. Google brought up a few more fitting ones, like Eastern Block, Warsaw Pact, all the countries on the Eastern side of the Iron Curtain, and so on.

Not in the same level as Lithuania and Latvia as I mentioned. There were administrative differences which weren't only on paper.
The things were way more complex than I want to discus here. For example Yugoslavia had a bit more independence than the rest of us.

Warsaw Pact

This was the military part (think anti-NATO) and the economical was the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance.

You should definitely watch it, it's a banger. It has great characters, it's funny, wholesome, cute, and there's even some action scenes. It has everything you want from a shonen anime. I know there's only 4 episodes out right now but I can't see WIT/clover works messing it up.

Its basically one of these "for everyone to enjoy" type of show , like anyone can just be into it , not that its some sort of masterpiece more like its just a moderately good show some might enjoy some might not , the only difference is that both genders and most ages won't find difficulty in watching it .

So just wondering, I have seen this anime sky rocket to popularity and just wanted to get everyone's opinion. A lot of people are telling me Its one of the greatest anime they've seen and are giving it 10/10 scores all around. Can someone tell me what you think of the anime so far (without spoilers) and if its good or not with your reasoning . To be clear I have no opinion yet as I have not seen it, I'm just reading a lot of manga and watching three shows already so trying to see if its really worth the time to put off the other series I'm into right now
""Really" worth the time?" Nope! The hype around it and it's popularity was nothing but a bluff when I got myself into it, it's a good anime if you don't take it seriously but the themes around it like politics and secret organisations you can't help but thinking atleast once that why this themes required when it supposed to be a "wholesome show" as considered by "most fans." The anime is good and can give you a good time as well but it's not at all "exceptional" in my opinion.

Frothy fun, I don't find the humour great, but this is a very subjective area. Worth a try, but I would rate it about 6/10

It's mainly a comedy and slice of life (in a sense). In that regards it's not the greatest thing I've seen but so far it's an easy 8. Made me laugh sometimes and is very heartwarming.

On a side note I've been saying this and will always say, don't ask others if you should watch something or not. It's okay if you're asking to know if the premise is of interest to you, like I sometimes ask before watching something if it's related to organised crime genre since i am not into that stuff. But if you are asking others about the quality of the show and act on their advice then expect to miss out on some stuff that you'd have liked otherwise.

I haven't read the manga before, but have watched 7 episodes of the anime.

For me it's very interesting and every time I see Anya interact with the people surrounding her, I smile. It's a story that is quite easy to follow and keep audience wondering what would happen next and how the members from Forger family would resolve the problems. Some people may argue it's not adapted well enough, but the anime makes me want to buy the manga.

"Best anime" is subjective because everyone has different taste and preferences on anime, some who like more serious and violent shows may not consider it as good, but some who like to see heartwarming and funny shows may consider so. And naturally, when a show gets very popular, there would be more comments and some could be either hostile or exaggerating.

When most people say it's quite good and you're not too against the genre, I think it won't hurt giving a try by watching a few episodes. If you don't like kids and maybe think Anya is annoying, or dislike the show with other reasons, then just drop it. And it could also be a good idea to ignore the comments surrounding for a while and enjoy the show just by yourself.
