Is the act of watching such genre of anime gay? Or is the show gay, but the viewer isn't gay? Or is it only gay if the viewer sees the same-sex couple does gay things together? Or does the viewer become gay for watching such shows?

I guess you'll just be curious. I'm a straight female with a boyfriend, I don't really read Yuri, but I like BL & Yaoi. I'm not sure how most straight men feel about Yaoi though.

Yes it is gay to watch either of those. If you're straight and of the sex which has homo relationships (yaoi for men, yuri for women).

Well yeah that simplifies it. Unless it's Boku no Pico, cause that is a show directed towards straight men.

Yes....the viewer becomes gay from watching the shows. Also, if a male watches yuri, they become lesbians and women become gay guys from watching yaoi. Everyone knows that. Its basic science.

So for every Yaoi I watch, I need to flush it with a Yuri anime to become straight again

Yes, it is.

And if a guy watches shoujo or a girl watches shounen they might consider transitioning one day.

Yes. Watching a Yuri after watching a yaoi will reverse the change, but you have to do it before the yaoi fully takes over.

I don't think anything can make you gay, you just are gay or not lol. i accidently got a Yaoi manga once and i had a hard time reading it, just couldn't get into it but i can watch/read the straight love stories and don't really watch or read the Yuri types either. bottom line i don't think anything can make you gay or bi or whatever. I think enjoying something doesn't make you anything but if you are like turned on by it maybe it says something and you should explore that lol

Not necessarily. I've watched a handful of yuri and yaoi shows that I find sexually stimulating, but I still identify as straight. Sexual arousal doesn't always have to be associated with sexual orientation, sometimes the anime really just be doing a good job at it.

Yes, you must stop, OP. Whenever you're asleep on your twin size bed inside your Yuri covered four walled self-made cell, your mother is crying with her palms against her face in the room next door as your father tries desperately to console her. Its breaking up the family...you gotta stop.

Go ahead, reply. I'm not going to read it.

Instantly. And just as instantly can be turned hetero again by watching a wholesome harem anime.

Super gay. Irreparably so. If you've watched even a minute, then you are forever gay for life.

Sorry you had to hear it, OP, but there's nothing you can do. This is your life now.

I've watched gay romances and read gay romance stories, and found some of them highly enjoyable. I'm still as straight as I've ever been. Everything that makes an opposite-sex romance enjoyable works just as well when the parties are same-sex.

I dunno, do gay people normally turn straight when they watch a hetero romance title? I mean, if your proposed scenario is true, then the inverse must be true as well, no?

I think you can't decide whether your gay or not because anime in general is the most perfection there can be in human wants and desires that isn't attainable in this time era you would have to have those feeling's for someone with flesh and blood living today to really make that choice 👍😊

It depends.
1. If you're a guy and you watch yuri, you're probably normal...
2. If you're a guy and you watch yaoi only for the story, there is still a chance that you're normal
3. If you're a guy and you watch yaoi but you get excited by the fan-service scene, then you're probably gay
4. If you're a guy and you watch yuri only for the fanservice scene, then it's your taste. Who am I to judge.

Eh, not really. Romance is romance. If you enjoy watching straight romance, there's a good chance that you'll enjoy gay romance too, and vice versa. Of course, this isn't always the case, and that's fine too.

Watching straight romance doesn't automatically make you straight and watching gay romance doesn't automatically make you gay. I, for example, am asexual and watch both.

-Is the act of watching such genre of anime gay?
There is no relation between what you watch and what you are. In the sense those who have watched Redo of healer are not rapist and Jobless reincarnation...

-is the show gay, but the viewer isn't gay?
Well, it depends on the definition you are using for gay. Anime is not a living thing.

-is it only gay if the viewer sees the same-sex couple does gay things together?
I didn't get this question properly. Whom are you referring here? Are you saying show becomes gay or the person? Either way my answer is no. I have answered for the both cases above.

does the viewer become gay for watching such shows?
If they are gay, they stay as gay. If they are straight they stay as straight. No one "become" what they watch.

Scrap what I said, this makes more sense. I am ashamed, how can I forget such basic science.

It's similar. Not every straight women into Yaoi, in the same way not every straight men enjoy yuri. There are female who don't like yuri and there are male who don't like yaoi. But the ratio depends on the society we are living in. How we perceive masculinity and feminity depends also in society.
