I really enjoyed this anime and I'm sad that it only lasted 11 episodes and wished there was more.

Well so how likely are the chances for a season 2? And is there even enough source material for that?
Because I know the manga is just an adaptation of the web-manga and I have no idea how long the web-manga even is.

Probably no chance the web novel is indefinite hiatus and the manga from what I could find is only up to chapter 39(?) but it does have 5 volumes, not sure if all have been adapted though.

The source material has been on a hiatus since 2016, and it ends right where the anime ends so unless Amahara comes back and continues the series, no chance for a S2. Faithful adaptation though, I just blazed through the manga and the web manga (raws).

The web manga is on hiatus. And there are a few chapters Cool-kyou Shinja need to illustrate to catch up with the anime. Not sure if Amahara will continue the series and letting Cool-kyou Shinja illustrate it like Aka write the story for Oshi no Ko and Mengo illustrate it. But even if that happened, it will took at least 2 years for MAPPA to have enough source material for S2.

I’ll give this a 8/10. The animation, the characters, the story… the plot UwU. It’s just different from your regular seasonal anime. This really deserves a season two

That's ridiculous! Why would any studio adapt a dead manga? Are they hoping the anime will somehow make people want to buy the manga which is already dead???
To force the author to continue maybe?
The anime itself is not that amazing so they can't be hoping it'll be profitable, right?

Did they do it just for the lulz or something? I wonder...

Maybe they read it, saw its potential and decided to make a good anime? I don't see why it should be ridiculous. They increased the number of people who know about it and ensured that there are people who will watch an eventual sequel (maybe an original movie written by the author).

It's not really Mappa who decided to adapt the manga, I think it was Aniplex who had the project first and then passed the animation part to Mappa.

if what im reading is correct and the web novel is on hiatus we will not get a s2 probably. It is sad, but it will just be one of those good animes that will be forgotten with no end to its series. It's sad indeed, but i really enjoyed Idaten.

While the web manga is dead, the manga is ongoing and it might possibly keep going after the part that the anime stopped at when it catches up.

For all those complaining about the web manga being on hiatus and the fact that this should mean somehow MAPPA shouldn't have adapted it, I don't understand this at all.

If the web manga is on hiatus and the regular manga is also very slow, then that is what it is. It sucks and is unfortunate, but I don't see how in any way that should be taken to mean MAPPA shouldn't create an anime series out of it.

Them not doing so would just mean we have one less anime series. We didn't have this anime series and now we do. That's a net gain and benefit. Them not creating an anime wouldn't make the manga versions resume any faster. If anything, adapting it and making it into a TV series will. But even if it doesn't and has no effect, at worst, it's neutral. I would rather have the incomplete anime series than have no anime series at all for no reason.

We have to wait for COOL to adapt all webcomic material and then we will see where is story going.

Pretty sure the web-comic is slightly ahead of the manga, as they used the web-comic to finish the last couple episodes, the manga would need to catch up to even reach the point where the last episode left it.

Just to add this here I thoroughly enjoyed this anime I haven’t seen something that made me want to watch more and more for a while now so it was nice to have that feeling again it really was a refreshing and really enjoyable watch and definitely one of my top 10 now.

Oh also if anyone wants to see the web-comic this is the link http://amahara.bob.buttobi.net/ although unfortunately it isn’t translated

Yeah, that makes no sense. Anime adaptations are made to promote source material. Why make anime when source material is dead?

Don't worry, the history will continue in the Manga, the web novel author said that with the actual pace it will be completed in around 16 months...

Based on the """ending""" I assumed it must have been a split-cour, but it appears it's not. Everyone above is saying it stopped right where the show did, which just raises even more questions. Who OK'd this, if it was going to cut off like that? What happened to the days of anime-original-endings?

Which puts Idaten in a funny place for me, it both needs a season 2 to actually finish properly, but the existing finale was so disappointing I don't care for the show returning.
Well I for one already loved Lain.

Hey, thanks a lot for the link. It's good to know that the series will continue and probably be completed in about 16 months. And it makes me feel a lot better about the whole Paula and Ysley getting tortured situation after reading that panel the author posted showing the part the anime didn't adapt.

If i understand, the pace of each media today is:

Web-manga (original): on hiatus exactly where the anime finished.

Manga version: Ongoing, but still in previous events than both above.

Right?

Yes, that is correct.
