Somewhat intense fight and almost looked like a lovers quarrel xD

Satisfying conclusion, despite feeling rushed and all over the place. But well, with such nice bits of character development, I don't mind. The segment at the end with Yasaburo and Kaisei, where grandma joined, ah, that was sweet.

8,5/10

Fingers crossed for a third season

So they were lovers after all, I thought Nidame gonna kiss her but apparently I was
wrong by a mile, he literally burned her to death, after all a half assed tengu can'
become the real deal.

Benten is too much for Yasaburo to handle and he gave up on her, Kaisei ended up
actually with him.

really unique story and art style with the Kyoto vibes. 8/10

So Benten was a reminder of a similar lover who walked away from him, I honestly thought he was going to kiss her, but he burned her ass Michael Jackson style.
Also those two really did have the red fur of love, nice they admitted it.

We will have to wait for a third novel first, though given that after over 15 years the author has brought out a sequel to Tatami Galaxy, I would say it is possible.

“I just spent the last two years thinking that you guys knew more than me about life and I just found out that you guys are just as dumb as me.” “Duh-doy.” “Yeah, duh-doy.”

At last... Been shipping Yasaborou and Kaisei this season for a while and I'm glad that they will end up together :)

I'm glad that this was definitely a step up compared to the first one. So many interesting things happening at the start till the end, though there's some plotholes on the series and it seems a little bit rushed. Well despite of that, they concluded the anime in a really good way and I'm satisfied with that. I'll give this 9/10. Definitely a good watch

Well that was a quite satisfying ending. Wrapped everything up and managed to give a nice ending for Kaisei and Yasaburo. I'll admit, it's not my favourite relationship but you'd need to have a heart of stone not to find that scene at the end cute.

I'll admit it does feel rushed, probably because they remembered the Nidaim/Benten/Akadama subplot existed in the last episode. Benten's fate is pretty unsatisfying but I'm guessing there was a plan for a final season. Tenmaya and Soun being dragged to hell did feel rushed but it was hinted at throughout the entire season since the painting showed up, so I'm satisfied.

Overall, I liked this as much as I did the first season. Even though the plot is basically identical to S1, I think this did enough to differentiate itself and be enjoyable.

Late boring comer here.
Really good show, the two seasons wrap up nicely, characters are lively and engaging, art is nice, animation is quite good and direction is very dynamic and imaginative.
I like how this show seamlessly embedded the various fantastic creatures into the modern Japan. The whole dynamics between all the characters was really good and believable.
Definitely to be added to my favorites.

Tbh I expected Benten to use her ice skills. Oh well. The ending with Kaisei was pretty sweet. I wish some newly introduced characters were more fleshed-out, though.

There was so much that happened and was answered, but it still leaves some mysteries too especially about Benten. I hope they won't leave us with this feeling and will make a third season sometime.

The first thing I want to say is that I am happy to see Yaichirou and Gyokuran my love getting married. It was the happiest moment in this ep and probably of the whole episode this season lol. But I was reminded, or maybe made aware that... there are also people who are sad at the same time even though they are not related at all. You get it, right? On one hand, there are happy events but on the other hand there are sad events that happen at the same time. Although the problem between Nidaime-Benten has absolutely nothing to do with Yaichirou-Gyokuran getting married but Yasaburou happens to be the one who feels both at the same time...

I honestly still don't understand, maybe I'm too slow in understanding the message or intention... but maybe they are deliberately making it still a mystery for the third season? (hopefully), I understand that Nidaime is very sensitive every time he sees Benten because she reminds him of the woman he once loved, but then he finds out that Benten is his father's disciple... but what is Benten's reason for not liking Nidaime? Am I missing something? Wasn't the only scene shown when they accidentally met in England with Benten's sad look on her face? What really happened...

Honestly I thought Nidaime would kiss Benten because she really resembles that woman, but instead he breathed fire on Benten's head lol I was a bit surprised but I guess it was for Benten's sake too... (maybe there's a feeling in Nidaime where he doesn't want to hurt Benten because the more he looks at her, the more she resembles that woman, and he doesn't want to hurt her).

I'm also angry because how could Ebisugawa and Tenmaya just be pulled into hell like that!! Ebisugawa should have been eaten by the Friday Fellows while Tenmaya should have been shot with that air rifle.

Uhhh but let's get back to the bright side. Grandma fuwa-fuwa is back and she gave her words of wisdom to Yasaburou :) ("As long as you stay fluffy, it'll all work out." are the best words of wisdom I've ever heard). The moment where he told grandma that they're engaged made me think "oh? is he finally accepted his red-string fate with Kaisei?" and I feel like that's something I actually didn't expect but not too surprising either. I feel that Yasaburou did like Benten because she was beautiful and admirable, especially back when Benten was still learning to be a tengu (their first meeting in the first season), he felt Benten was a beautiful and "mature" woman so he was fascinated and wanted to be around her, and coincidentally... they have the right dynamic/chemistry in 'cause some trouble and have some fun', of course that makes Yasaburou not want to be tied down by anything be it his engagement to a girl he didn't know what she looks like as well as the responsibilities after his older brothers "left" (Yaichirou got married and Yajirou decided to living far), so he would obviously prefer to be involved with Benten because it's fun, doesn't bore him and keeps his days busy (as he always said in the first season).

But like he said, he realizes that it's not really him that Benten wants or needs, I honestly don't know what or who Benten needs (and I hope it's not Nidaime because I really can't see them becoming a couple, I mean, Benten resembles the woman who left him and if they became a couple wouldn't that be odd for Nidaime?) but I think the affection these two feel for each other is not love in the true sense/meaning of love, but more like affection... because they're similar? Both trying to run away from fate. And the incident with Nidaime only reminds them that they can never run away from fate and reality.

Seeing that his older brothers are finally moving on and he won't be spoiled by them anymore, as well as fully realizing that he and Benten are indeed not meant to be together, he chooses to accept reality but will still have fun with it. When he invited Kaisei to join the Tsuchinoko's expedition squad, I already felt that he wanted to get close and get to know Kaisei more deeply before deciding whether he would marry her, but after hearing grandma's words and (probably) remembering all the things Kaisei did to him, it made him think and make up his mind that he would marry Kaisei. I'm still curious to why only Kaisei can make Yasaburou return to his tanuki form? Yasaburou's father returned to tanuki form when he saw Benten because he was afraid, but Yaichirou raised his tail when he saw Gyokuran because he was too fascinated... this has actually been a sign from the beginning that Yasaburou has neither fear nor love for Benten. But if Yasaburou has liked Kaisei for a long time, what was the first thing that made him like Kaisei? ;3

Yajirou also seems to have returned to Shikoku, hahaha I hope if he's going to return to Kyoto one day it's not just to tell his family that he wants to get married :p

Somehow there's a little part of me that thinks that Sensei knows what kind of woman Nidaime loved and the reason he kidnapped Benten to the point of taking care of her and making her into a tengu was so that she could end up with Nidaime... but it might be too late because since that incident Nidaime decided to live as a human and Benten lived as..Benten? But maybe that's just my imagination.

I really wish there was a third season. It's too good and has gone too far and deep to just stop here. After all, how can they give Benten so much screen time since the first season and give us so many mysteries about her but even until the end of the second season there are still some unclear things about her...

Did Benten's face burn along with her hair. That was really cruel of Nidaime, setting a woman's hair on fire even if she is insufferable.

Stil a very strong second season, but considerably weaker than the excellent first season.

There's a lot I could say about not caring for the Nidaime and being unhappy that he got so much focus over the titular Eccentric Family, but I'll just leave my thoughts at being disappointed that most of this thread is people arguing about shipping in a show that isn't a romance-centric one.

8/10.
