What do you think is the best way to end it and why?

Timeskipping to married is the most wholesome I think, but it can be executed poorly.
I was gonna go with Heroine Dies (lol). Expect one where the protagonist dies in the following years though.

The guy learns about the cuckold culture and becomes a cuckold, he'll enjoy seeing his little prince sleeping with other men.
If you're a fanboy, please don't waste my time.

Watch more movies, please.

Perhaps, this is hell.

I like that the anime timeskips to when the couple is married/live together, because it gives the viewers a certain sense of closure. You can accept that the anime has ended. When it's just a confession or a kiss, it leaves the audience with this empty feeling. Their relationship has only begun and yet the anime has already ended.

Timeskips are great in every almost anime imo

A lot of the best romance anime probably wouldn't end with any of these, since a lot of the best romance anime focus on the relationship that's already started instead of waiting for them to get together. I guess that leaves a marriage timeskip as the only "good" option.

But I guess you can't go wrong with the classic romcom Toradora ending.

I like both timeskip to get married - Maid-sama ending

and the alternate timeskip and they're still together - Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou ending

Both of them are great and wholesome.

Confess and kiss and BLACK SCREEN I’m so tired of them ending like “and then we moved away from eachother” LIKE SHUT THE FUCK UP this shit is already unrealistic so literally why.

Whatever the characters have been built up to do. If there is some irreconcilable difference inherent, then let them separate on good terms. If its built to end in a marriage, let that happen. etc.
There's no inherent right or wrong in this universe, but when we think with emotions rather than logic, we make things so.

Have the main confession happen in the first quarter or second quarter of a series to give time for the relationship to progress into marriage and them tragedy strikes and the heroine dies

marriage with highschool lover is kinda unreailstic i think. so imo the best way is like a kiss but after that a timeskip. they are with someone else and saw each other. they remember good old times and smiles. the end

Heroine dies. Gets me every time.
It really does work though, and makes the romance that more memorable.

Probably some hand holding action.
I'm watching the anime to escape realism so anything works I guess, except NTR.

I chuckled at "Heroine dies (lol)".
I'm ok with anything, but it shouldn't be lame and ridiculuous "deus ex machina" when someone just randomly dies (Hello, Clannad fanboys)

Timeskip in which the couple are seen married or simply still being together like in Bloom into You, and Saekano.

something like School Days would be fine, too...

You can never go wrong with NTR or if the heroine dies. Yes, it's most likely the ending that most people won't like but goddamn will it be memorable just like one of the persons who said it in this thread.

Imagine if 2 people who were heavily cheered and shipped by its fans finally gets a very satisfactory relationship only to be ruined by NTR/death of the heroine at the end. It'll be etched into the minds of the watchers forever lol.

Edit: this is probably a side effect of me seeing so many happy endings in anime or any form of media entertainment that I got super tired of. Apologies.

The relationship has fizzled out, the break-up is inevitable, in the end just the memories remain. That is the way I like it to end.

from my point of view they should confess and kiss at half the episodes, the end should just be abrupt like life is

edit, well, there is always the option of happy harem life

Vow to be with one another for lifetime. Be a burden for one another. Run away to a dream world. Having sex then timeskip. Finally celebrate marriage in a sacred place.

I'm a fan of Romance, watched a lot of them and read a tiny few.

When it comes to Manga, I'm not a fan of the time skip a lot of them too, I think it's beyond stupid that the second to last chapter jumps years and years into the future and then they get married at the last chapter.

I rather it ends like it does in Kimi ni Todoke "Anime" it ends up with both main characters happy.
I believe this is a really good point to end the story.

I would like a time skip to a dating or marriage scene. It would give closure to the series and couple!
