I'm an ex MAL user of 5 years who switched to spreadsheet for various reasons. My favorite anime genres are action and fantasy. If you like high stakes games, gore or good power fantasy you are my friend.
But my true favorite genre is psychological horror which isn't a thing in anime, more so in manga and VNs so there isn't much stuff left for me to watch. The 9 anime on my list are just some leftovers from my old PTW I might watch some day.
