We reached episode 8 now, and it's still around 7.82/10! [Edit: it's now 7.46]

If we consider current season's top shows such as Boku no Hero Academia, Steins Gate 0, Shokugeki no Souma, Hinamatsuri, Megalo Box and other animes, we find that TG gets the lowest rate!

So why? Is it really that bad?! Is it because of the animation, or the story itself?
Maybe manga readers are downvoting it because it didn't live to their expectations? I don'n know.

I'm not a manga reader, but I love this TG:re. I think it's very interesting in terms of story and character development.

The current relation between Touka and Sasaki (Kaneki) is getting me hype for the real reunion moment!

Hina-chan's meeting with Sasaki was so exciting!

That one-eyed-owl girl, I'm curios and so excited to see what's gonna happen with her. I remember that her father asked Kaneki to help her too!

Anyway, it's really interesting and it deserves at least same rating as other good animes that are currently airing.

No offense here, but I really want to understand why it's even less than 8/10?

Well, I can only think of one reason and that's characters i don't pretty much care about the plot or the animation but the characters are the main factor for me to enjoy the show and this has some pretty don't know what to say man characters in it i even enjoyed the Root A more than this.

Most people who review tokyo ghoul are just haters and some hate it because of the new character introduced and some for the intial SOL element. Well, for me this anime is great tbh and i would also give it an 8/10

It's simple - it's just a very bad adaptation. Not like the previous Tokyo Ghoul's TV anime were good but this one is only a bit better than "TG: root A" (which imo is realy terrible).
What's more, manga i a really good one and during reading you should expect adaptation which is at least on similar level. BUt, unfortunately, Tokyo Ghoul anime is not a proper example

Animation and characters is better in my opinion. I fucking hated Kaneki so much. He is a loser, not interesting, not developing beta. He gains powerups from nowhere. Sasaki is atleast tolerable. Story is not good (never been good anyway). And especially people who liked the first two season grew up and they are no longer stupid edge lords. To be honest whole Tokyo Ghoul world and story are uninteresting copy of Devilman.

It's a "popular" choice for anime 'critics' here on MAL to hate on. Just ignore them, and score it how you want.

First, 7 is NOT a bad score. That score is just the popularity, not something 'good' or 'bad'. And 7.82 is very close to 8. That score is 'low' because of their own fans, not 'haters'.

The adaptation is bad. Only the last two episodes are decent in this aspect, in my opinion. Anyway, the first arcs of the manga of :re are average, there's not much they can do.

honestly it deserves that , there is a very big gap between anime and manga , the manga is so much better in every way.
even if they are following the manga this time , they are skipping alot (average 5 or 6 chapters per episode which is insane) so it is rushed as hell just like season 1.
And of course because of season 2(root A) is retconed , season 3 doesnt make sense for anime onlys and most of them are confused as fuuck.
the anime focused on fights only and didnt portray the physological element at all and skipped alot of character development and backstories even in season 1.
Not gonna lie i still enjoying this season but i really think this story deserve way more better adaptation than this.
Just read the manga thats all i can say.

This. Also, some scenes don't capture moments from the manga properly, meaning some important details, both large and minute, are missing. That's the complaint I hear the most.

Poor animation, rushed adaptation, a lot of detail information skipped. and now you can see 7.47 rating

It's a point that has been said a number of times but the manga is scores better than the anime. In the manga there is sufficient time for character development so that Kaneki is more complex and the supporting characters aren't as boring for the most part (looking at you, all those CCG investigators I'm supposed to care about). Also there was no dumb root a storyline with Kaneki fighting both aogiri and the CCG in the manga, and all in all each character's actions make a lot more sense (plus there were some really awesome scenes the anime ignored on its unfathomable tangent which I will not detail here). Personally I am way too kind on the anime adaptation because of my adoration of the manga, but it is very easy to dislike for both those who do read the manga and those who don't for varying reasons.

Well , this is because of the tg V2 that was an alternative route to the manga .. That's one of the reasons that people are hating this show.. They don't know how Kaneki become Haise, anyways in season 2 of tg re (season 4) they will see how it happend.. Until then this show will drop or maybe remain like this

Tokyo Ghoul:re is garbage. I enjoyed the first season the most and the second season was alright. But Tokyo Ghoul:re was so rushed. So many events that happen in such short time spans. The characters would be really well made, but they include so many characters that i can't even keep track of how many there are half the time. I give it like a 5/10, I've seen worse but Tokyo ghoul:re had potential and that's what's frustrating.

Because compared to the other two seasons, Tokyo Ghoul: was absolute garbage. The art was just wack and the story got more boring. I'm surprised it even has a score of 6.something

there is nothing big of cut. They just cut 20%-40% of story.
"I think I wanted to attack something. Like betraying people or hurting people. And, well, it's not exactly nice, but hurting the readers too... In all honestly, I feel that's what I really wanted to do. For me, as a reader, when I think, "this manga will remain in my heart," it means, for example, it phenomenally hurt me: It's those kinds of experiences I'm after." - Pajime Hisayama (My favourite hurting author).

It cut the important parts of the story and focused on fights which made the viewer no sense of wat he is watching y are they fighting.
I love the manga and the vibe is different so I ended up enjoying it.

I decided to watch anime first, so I don't end up disappointed. (I'm reading the manga atm.) I binge-watched 4 seasons in one weekend and when I finished 2nd season and started :re I got a totally different vibe, like I was watching a different anime. I liked character design, but the animation seemed much worse. Even though I don't care that much about fight scenes, when I watched fights in season 1 or 2 they were really epic and for example I couldn't wait to see more Juuzou. I couldn't stop watching season 1 and 2. In :re everything looked differently. Even everyone's kagunes looked way less impressive.

Also, you don't get a lot of characters' motivation (probably since they omitted a lot of things) so sometimes you get confused why they act like that. And everything is really condensed (especially in season 2).

For me, it was ok, I still enjoyed it, but it was worse than previous seasons. So I can only imagine what people who read manga think.

Because of it's frabile plotline and the dearth of proper inclination. At some places it was like a mess, but at some places this is pretty cool and some Characters was fine, so overall my rating of this season is 7/10, I have no idea about how they compressed the Manga and so-so and I seriously don't care...

:RE S1 is far better than VA ; I was not very happy with what they did in VA but I really appreciated :RE S1 ; as a manga reader I can tell the rhythm was more regular and animation is still on top. I think the studio probably integrated the critics for VA when they did :RE...

:RE S2 is a bit less entertaining but I think it's also because the ending of the manga is a mess.

So for the rating,
TG : 8/10
TG VA : 6/10
:RE S1 : 8/10
:RE S2 : 7/10
