| The whole "it ain't that deep" thing, the idea that you can't read into an anime and analyze what the author was trying to say or inadvertently said, or compare it to real life. Or that if you analyze a show and find that, say, there's a lot of fascist overtones, that means you're saying that you think it's bad or that anyone who likes to watch it is a bad person for liking it. |

| I have seen complains about lewding characters, but I always assume they're from teenagers so I just ignore them. But I feel that's in general fandom issue rather than only about animanga. I think one that really makes me roll my eyes is someone complaining about female representation in animanga and only high lights Studio Ghibli works as ok works, while they've only scratched the surface of Japanese animation and comic scene but these I feel come more from outside anime community or from those just getting into anime. The one from inside anime community I have heard few times is when they see a show is trying to attract mainstream audience interest and they moan and complain, I just can't get why care about such thing. |

| Yeah, complaining about people finding an anime character interesting/attractive is silly. These are fictional characters. They're not real. Most people can tell the difference between fiction and reality. I really like the character of Hisoka from hxh because he's interesting. He has a great design and I love how he's written; someone who is smart, cunning, manipulative, and follows his hedonistic desires with no regard to social norms. That's a great character from an entertainment standpoint. In reality, if I saw someone like that I would be creeped out and would probably call the police. Another example is Hinata from Haikyuu. I love that little guy. His energy is contagious and he makes me smile, but I wouldn't want to be around him in real life. He would be too much to handle. I feel exhausted just thinking about it. |

You don't need to fulfill certain requirements and get licensed to enjoy anime. If a show, any show, sparks your interest in anime you are now "interested". I got into sculpting only recently, and I don't think I enjoy it any less than someone who's been sculpting for years. Although I'm not a seasoned sculptor, I'm definitely a fan. |

But if you needlessly put fanservice in non ecchi shows thats when it becomes a problem for many. I love watching anime with my sisters but when theres fanservice more than 5 times they will stop watching the series altogether because its uncomfortable for them, and most of the time in anime its completely misogynistic and objectifying. Its perfectly okay for them to complain about that and its not anyones place to tell someone they shouldnt be bothered by fanservice because its literally disgusting most of the time in anime. |

I complained about execution of it, not that it's included. It'd probably be a cold day in hell before I complain about a series merely including fanservice. Just because we're ecchi fans doesn't mean we have to say all fanservice is done well. If we think a show sucks at how it executes on it, we can try to figure out what went wrong and put it into words. We're not some exception to critical thinking just because people around us tend to be fucking stupid about what we gather around. If anything, I think we'd be better off embracing it more in our fandom - a lot of our problems with stuff like reviews and the type of complaints outsiders have would more or less be solved if we had more people willing to think about this sort of thing on that level and get our perspectives out there in more substantial ways than just one-liners or vapid shitposting. We'd be armed and ready to go, and we'd have the homefield advantage to boot. But it's not my place to force people into interact with media in ways they don't want. Probably why I miss the days with Dekn and Mamster so much. Hit or miss, at least they always tried. Nowadays I just feel kind of alone in doing this, like I'm hanging on to something past its expiry date or something. |

If its boring to someone then for them not much happened that made them interested or nothing happened that they really cared about. You can't really explain why something is boring and I don't think everyone is obligated to. I found Kimi no Na Wa incredibly boring on my first watch, but couldnt really explain why and i really wanted to know. But after rewatching it several times I always notice something new that explains everything so much better and I really think its an amazing film. It isnt always easy to pin point why you feel bored by some stories. What you feel is very valid, if someone called Monster, for example, boring and they couldnt explain it I would be frustrated too. But one thing you gotta learn is it isnt always easy to explain it |
