you know the type who are into:

-football
-fighting
-lifting
-beer
-guns

and they try to root themselves deeply in these things as their identity

not trying to to dog on them, they can be "bro" or "cool", however, i can find them to be less than interesting.

Making your personality your body is already beyond stupid. I'm not sure what there is to liking football. As they play football, or they just watch it? Just watching is not hypermasculinity and when there is a person like that, that person is probably in the lifting/beer category instead. Same goes with fighting. Making your personality based off of objects is stupid as well.

Yes, it is quite stupid.

You see stuff like this where I live. It's all dumb, manly, blue-collar tradespeople who wear baseball caps everywhere, and drive through trails on ATVs. I hate it. I also hate people who use terms like "bro" and "dude."

Nah, not really. If you like it, hey, good for you.
You could ask the same about hyperfemininity, such as wearing heels, pin-up style dresses, lipstick, etc

Eh? So regular blokes with normal levels of testosterone are now being called hyper masculine? That’s news to me.

Anyway speaking for myself out of those I have never been into football. Though most people I grew up around and have worked with are big into it. My close friend from childhood’s younger brother now plays for a top football team.

Fighting, well we all get into scraps growing up. I would like to be able to fight people without getting into legal trouble sometimes. And multiplayer fighting games are awesome! Or at least they used to be. I miss the Street Fighter 4 series. That was my life 2009 - 2013.

Lifting. Well who doesn’t want to feel good about their body and look good and be able to simple get from A to B without feeling like they are about to die?

Beer, I’ve always hated beer. In the military they all drank and told me that they don’t trust a man who doesn’t drink beer. But they did get a good laugh out of me buying pints of Bailey’s.

Guns, well every video game and movie has guns pretty much. Plus I am ex-military.

I don’t think it’s stupid at all. I think it’s just stuff that a lot of us guys like.

Yeah, I don't like those terms either. I don't believe in the use of slangs when referring to people, as it just sounds stupid and degrading. I don't use honorifics when speaking to people, either.

Personally, I've never actually met one of these people but it sounds like the verbal embodiment of degeneracy and it's hilarious. If it makes them happy then its whatever. I probably won't really associate myself with them :D

Nothing wrong with liking what you like, as long as you're being sincere. Aside from football, I like all of those things myself. I think it doesn't matter what you like so much as why you like it. If you like things just to fit in, you're in trouble.

Really only an issue if it results in the harm of their physical or mental health or the mental and physical health of others.

Otherwise it's just a list of interests they're into, no different than people liking anime. It's like asking if being a weeb is stupid, it's fine until it gets to the point where you're doing nothing but spending your money on body pillows and jerking off to tentacle hentai.

Sounds stupid & degrading? LOL what. That's not necessarily the case. They can sound rude OR friendly if you want them to be. It depends on how you use them, like many other words.
They aren't inherently degrading or rude.

And why wouldn't you use honorifics? Examples?

I don't have a problem with hypermasculinity in and of itself, but often hypermasculinity comes with toxic masculinity (being afraid to show your emotions because it's seen as 'weak', basing your self-worth on your body count and treating women like trophies, being homophobic because gay men aren't 'real men', judging other men or even themselves if they aren't traditionally masculine, etc)

Terry Crews is (afaik) a good example of a non-toxically hypermasculine man

The word "bro" is heavily ingrained in "ghetto culture," and I hate ghetto culture. People talk like they're from the ghetto, even when they're not, and that's stupid.

Nobody addresses anyone as "Sir/Miss/Mam" anymore, as those terms are considered archaic in my country.

Football, beers and watching fights (not me fighting) are great things...Guns and lifting are not my thing

But no matter what those things don´t define someone´s masculinity... there´s also no such thing as hypermasculinity in my opinion

People that act that way can be pretty annoying but not all of them necessarily.

There is a certain point it just is a mental illness.

Loving the things listed in OP isn't hypermasculinity. Hypermasculinity is when you base your entire identity on those things and belittle others for being different from your definition of being a man. Also misogyny.

that looks more like redneckism then hypermasculinity dude. instead of conflating a bunch of different subjects under one umbrellia i will agree them one at a time.

well anyways, i don't like most sports and never really have been invested in them. However, i don't have a problem with other people liking them. however, archery and fencing/HEMA are different for me always enjoyed those.

fictional fights and controlled tournaments are fine, but if you mean random street brawling and real life fights or wars. then no i am very much against war and violence.

Lifting to stay heathy is fine i prefer jogging, but i have nothing against lifting.

beer i don't drink and never have. if your having moderate amount of alcohol it's fine, but over indulgence i tend to not want to be around alcoholics.

guns never owned one i can enjoy them in video games, but would probably never use one in real life (still prefer sword and bow.) i also don't really see the point of them in modern time especially as the guns you can legally own would never stop a modern equipped and trained military. no matter how hard you try to be Rambo. they literally have tactics for dealing with milita civilians nowadays. very few gun owners are as well trained as military personnel. However, getting rid of them is pointless there is to damn many in the U.S and would be as pointless as the war on drugs. i still do support better background checks and regulations on who can have easy access to them.

None of those things are "hypermasculinity". Depending on your culture, drinking beer is not a male thing or anything special. I learned to shoot with firearms but I am against the private possession of them. Did martial arts during years but never fought in real life since middle school, still train with body weight and practice other sports... Only thing I hate is football, but this is no other than some very popular sports in many countries that does not make you special.

The ones saying that you are not a man if you do not drink alcohol or like watching football are the real issue. Those acting manly to display their virility show no other than their insecurities.

There's nothing wrong with liking all of the aboves. I'm also into beer, cars, guns ... But not because it's supposed to be a manly thing but because it's something that interests me. Hypermasculinity isn't really a problem, people can be whoever they want to be. However, toxic masculinity can be a problem.
I kinda agree with you that they're less interesting to interact with. I had friends in school that were only into football and it was awful to try to have any meaningful or interesting conversation with them.
